I mean there was that recent upwelling of general horror interest with Twilight and shit. If the Mercury games had been better I think they could have used that rising interst in the theme to their advantage.
 
What the fuck could have happened that was so bad between announcing Silent Hills and now? Whatever it was must have blew up fast. You'd think that if this was something which had been brewing for a while they'd have held off of kickstarting something big and expensive like this. Or perhaps Konami truly are that incompetent.

Snatcher is a niche ass cultural artifact that is only known distantly by fanboys and forumites, and has probably only been actually played by hardcore Kojima fans, adventure fans, and enthusiasts of the Sega CD.

Konami putting out a bit of DLC in a glorified paid demo in which Raiden (the actual touted big aspect of the DLC) fights robot body snatchers in a reference to Snatcher does not make the franchise relevant in any way.

God Konami is so out of touch. And not in the funny irreverent way anymore.

Oh well, at least P.T. got out there and hopefully influences a lot of developers in all the right ways. I would pay so much for an episodic horror game of that quality.

Honestly I wasn't confident Konami could even follow up something like that, or that Silent Hills was even going to resemble it.

It was just a playable teaser and P.T. was one of the coolest/scariest things ive ever played. I think this is the first time a game that I was REALLY looking forward to has been cancelled....such a disappointment.
 
Silent Hill is my favorite gaming series. To be a fan and see the series slowly going down the toilet after so many years... I had such an overwhelming feeling of joy when they announced Silent Hills and P.T. It seemed like the best possible way the series could go. You tore my heart out, seriously, fuck you Konami.

Vampires in general had already been turned into heartthrobs by the time SotN came out. The appeal of the series was more in the Gothic trappings than the villains.
 
What a weird turn of events. Other publishers would kill for IPs like MGS and Silent Hill, let alone having the names of Kojima and Del Toro attached to anything.
