Krispy Kreme just opened a store by my house

The people that shit on Krispy Kreme have never bought one in the store, had them hand it to you hot off the line and gobbled it like an animal while still wrapped in that delicious smell. It's a religious experience.

But try not to get fat, OP.

I had a Krispy Kreme right next to campus in college and it took everything I had to not take a detour and be late to class everyday when the hot light was on lmao. Nothing better than a hot Krispy Kreme donut.
That gif is fantastic. Anyways OP resist the temptation or you are going to get fat or possibly diabetes.

Yeah, they are pretty great piping hot... but so is every donut? They're kind of trash otherwise. Like another poster said they imploded here over a decade ago.

They closed all Krispy Kreme stores around here about 10 years ago.

same in most Canadian locations

KK failed tp understand the concept that cheaply priced coffee is more important than the actual donut

the fad didnt last long when they openned here, it was the awsome suggary new donut!, but the hype fizzled quickly.

heck, even McDonald's understood that coffee was the focus of luring in customers.

Tims slaughtered Krispy Kreme, not for donuts but with abonudnt cheap coffee

There is a KK and Duck Donuts across the street from each other here in Knoxville. It is like the devil's lair. I know people would be saying 'this one is better' or 'that is trash', but subjectively I like them all. Still I only eat them 4 times a year or so. Too many calories for me.

That said local own or specialty doughnut shop is the new 'craft brewery' thing. It seems like there is one opening up every month. The hip thing is to show up at one these places after 11pm (the lines are sometimes around the block).

Best and freshest donut I ever had was when I traveled to upstate New York and stayed over a former friend's house. Her father went to a local farm and bought some apple cinnamon donuts made right then and there.

Oh, MAH GOD.

This is what I am thinking. There is a difference between going to the store, and buying a box from a gas station or something.

I think the people who don't get KK are thinking of them like they think of their regular donut shop.

Don't eat them for breakfast, eat them for dessert.

Nah, I've had Krispy Kreme hot off the glaze conveyor.

It's a donut. It's a hot glazed donut. Ok.

I've had at least 4 different local shops serve me something better, without having to wait for a light to come on and stand in line for 15 minutes.

You're done. Krispy Kreme is the Holy Grail. You can eat them at any time and no matter if you eat them cold or hot, they're the king of donuts.

Fuck all this other donut shit. Krispy Kreme has no competition. Fuck what YOU heard.

Krispy Kreme's donuts are trash tier. Nothing but sugar. Dunkin is better but there are a couple local chains near me and I have been spoiled for good donuts.

I love that these two posts are back-to-back. cordy literally telling us to fuck what we heard from SocksAndShoes.

LOL

Krispy Kreme hit the North East about 10 years ago in a whirlwind, and I think nearly all of them have gone out of business. Similarly super long lines of people waiting outside in the morning, and then about a 2 or 3 years later, people stopped going to them. The only ones left are the ones in the Foxwoods or Mohican Sun casino, where a lot of tourists and late night revelers stop for donuts.

But their donuts just aren't very good.

This isn't so. The people who think that Krispy Kreme is that great just haven't had good donuts.

Krispy Kreme donuts still taste good, and when they're fresh they melt in your mouth, but it's an over-rated chain. I think people who shit on KK do so because, like, 10 years ago, everybody was freaking out about Krispy Kreme expanding all over the country,a nd there was this madness and obsession with the expansion. And then after that settled down most of the new stores closed down.

Farm fresh cider donuts are my kryptonite.

Yeah, I grew up in the south when I was a kid and we bought them in boxes. I didn't think they were anything special. But then I went to one in North Carolina, can't remember which one, drunk at like 1 a.m. and it was amazing.

Krispy Kreme actually got its start in Winston-Salem the 30s selling to stores, but when they were running the line between 12 and 4 a.m. they'd sell fresh ones to people that walked up to the factory. So it's an old southern tradition.

Two years ago I moved to a location that seemingly has the only KK stand alone shop in southwest Ohio. It's fantastic. I don't go as often as I like, but it's a wonderful place that serves bits of pure joy in a fried circular form.

Love them shits.

Krispy Kreme is to donuts what Coldstone Creamery is to ice cream. Sure, it still tastes good, but just as how Coldstone is not good ice cream and only survived in strip malls, Krispy Kreme is not particularly good donuts and really failed after their explosive expansion a decade ago (Coldstone similarly).

Like, Coldstone is good if you have no other options for ice cream. KK is good if you have no other options for donuts. Both make products that undeniably taste good. But neither are good examples of the food they're making, and they've never lived up to the hype.

But what about literalness? Are their donuts actually crispy? Hmmm

As a kid/teen, when I'd go on vacations in the South and would drive past Krispy Kreme, I thought it was such an odd name for a coffee & donut shop. Like... if your cream, presumably going into your coffee, is crispy there is a strong likelihood that your cream is very very spoiled.

They are really good. Finally had one open up here in Alaska, it's a blessing it's 15 miles away from me, only been there once (1.5 hour long lines suck)

I grew up near krispy kreme hq and had my share. They are pretty good especially when fresh but often times I find the in store selection lacking a few of my favorites fairly often. After they closed a bunch of stores a while back there aren't many around that are easy to get to for me.

More often nowadays I go to Duck, Rise or this local place Daylight donuts as they are just as good and have better selection.

Yo RTP. Duck and Rise are both great, though I go to Rise primarily for the biscuits.

Hot KK is still a treat.

I was excited when there were people selling Krispy Kreme by the dozen on the corner for charity. I don't know what I would do if they opened a store here.

Plain glaze krispy kremes are vastly over rated. The soft chewey cake is the worst type of donut. The honey krullers at KK are much better.

Has anyone ever had a better donut than a fresh, hot Krispy Kreme original glazed?

They're nice.

Where do you live? If it's an urban center chances are there is a really really nice donut shop not too far from you. Bit of a fad lately to make super deluxe donuts from much nicer ingredients than those used by Krispy Kreme and if you're after a sugar rush and want the thing you eat for it to taste a little less artificial, it's probably worth trying it once so that your horizons are expanded.
