I don't want a Lost answer to my question, I want a GAF answer damnit!

Anyone know exactly what time Hulu or ABC puts Lost online?

you don't have a dvr? now's a good time to get one.
Nope and I don't think Comcast is going to get me one by 9pm EST.

Dammit! No one in this thread is helpful at all!

Oh shit. This is just like Lost...

The problem is Christian was kinda instrumental in getting Locke to get everyone back to the island, based on what he said to him next to the FDW. That's not really a referee. He was pretty crucial to MIB "winning".

He also got Jacob's pieces back to the island too. It seems clear that Christian wanted his "son" to come back to the island as well.

In other words, both Smokey & Jacob could agree with Locke that no one was supposed to leave, therefore the island could conclude that as well. I call it a referee because it makes sure the rules are followed and penalizes when they're not.

Both camps were breaking the rules- especially when a 3rd team entered the field aka the freighter people. This is why they went ka-boom although even this could have been so that the right people could be on the island. Dharma camp being killed by Ben could be another example.

Bump, since I'm catching up (haven't seen Recon yet)

I really thought the season was picking up after The Substitute and Lighthouse, but since then it's been completely downhill.

Sundown:
This Japanese dude is one of the absolute worst and most generic characters introduced to the series. It's like they created the most cliche character to introduce a continuation of the worst tricks in Lost. His dialogue is horrible, and I just saw that fight with Sayid. Seriously?

"it would be best if you die." Seirously?
"you must kill him. if he speaks before, it's already to late." :lol

They continue to rehash some of the worst cliches of the show ("what if I told you you could have whatever you wanted if you followed me") and they've magnified it by introducing one of the cheesiest characters in show history.
Granted I'm glad he died, but how many times have we seen the old "what have you done?!?!?! you've killed us all!!!" bit. I'm glad the show is finally done with the temple, it really provided the worst episodes of the season.

I liked the end of the Sayid alternative flash. It was hard getting too excited about John wrecking shit, considering it was started by him manipulating Sayid in such a cliched manner. That used to be Ben's game, and at the time it was cool. It sucks because I've liked Sayid for a long time, but I can't say I like this path he's going down.

Dr. Linus:

Some great Ben scenes/moments made up for some of the worse aspects of things. It really seems like the writers are on full rehash mode. While that last beach scene was nice, how many times have we seen it before. Or the whole "follow me and you'll get what you want lol" bit.

I'm losing interest in this show. I can't help but watch this thinking "I've seen this before" constantly, and the attempts at creating intrigue or mystery are so stale it's hard to get excited about things.

The alternative flashes reek of pure fanfic.

I'm not sure if you know what the word "cliche" means.:lol

I was indifferent about Dogen overall, but name a character on the show like him? Name one. Dogen was tasked with trying to protect the LOSTIES who didn't feel they needed protecting and he could only push them so hard being that if and/when they pushed back there wasn't much he could do to these people who are the last of Jacob's chosen ones. So he turned to lies, half trues, and manipulation to keep them safe. Pretty much no way he could win.

Outside of MIB at what point in the show has a character use those methods of manipulation? He's done it more than once, sure, but that's his modus operandi it's like calling Sawyer's cons a cliche. If you do that any writers who's characters display any sort of continuity are guilty of rehashing. You could say Ben at times..maybe. But even that connection is paper thin.. far from creating a cliche. Sound's like you're blinding copying shit from the hate thread that had no merit to begin with. The only thing Ben promised Sayid was revenge. Flocke promised him lost love. The whole "picture a box" thing would've been a better example but aside from Ben admitting it was a metaphor and aside from Ben showing Locke what was in the "box"(cooper) that very episode, one line in an entirely different context three seasons ago doesn't create a cliche.:lol

"What have you done" moments?... Season 2 with the doomsday computer I guess, but comparing that to Dogen's death allowing Smokey to enter the temple is apples & oranges.

Beach reunions? This was the 4th..First in 3 years. Losties & Tailies return in season 2, Kate & Sawyer in S3, Kate, Jack, Sayid and Juliet again in S3. Three seasons ago and a clear homage to some of the more touching moments of the show. Why can't you feel PD?

Give some examples of "Follow me you'll and get what you want" being rehashed to the point of cliche, because I'm having trouble coming up with them.

Ignorant LOST criticism is closer to being cliche or rehashed than anything 'arguments' in your post.

Ignorant Lost criticism? No, what we have here is blind Lost apologists. Give me a break, the episode was a complete rehash, and even you named a few. This season hasn't been much but a giant fanfic.

In terms of "what have you done?!?"...the doomsday computer yes, but also Jack giving away their location to the folks on the boat in S4 comes to mind. If that's not a tired Lost cliche, I don't know what is. I'll try to think of some more examples.

In terms of manipulations, how can you argue the whole "what if I told you I could give you anything you want" hasn't been used many times. It comes off as stale and uninspired now.

And yes, while I loved the music during the beach scene it was just more tried fan service. This season has been quite weak overall. Sawyer is in the next episode so maybe it'll be good, but I don't have my hopes up.

edit: Dogen being "original" to the show doesn't make him a particularly original character. Everything about him reeks of cheese, especially his shitty dialogue.

Breaking a computer, Calling a ship and drowning a motherfucker are three totally different instances with three totally different consequences all surrounding completely different sets of circumstances. You really can't even compare them. IF you can't see that take Darlton's advise and watch NCIS on Thursdays because it really couldn't be clearer.

I'm sorry but a dead immortal appearing to people and telling them he can change their lives isn't stale or rehashed. And again, outside of MIB starting halfway through last season how many times has it happened. The show wasn't even dealing with shit like for the first half of the series(in terms of # of episodes). Still, It's like saying that Omar robbing people in The Wire is cliche, or Dexter killing killers are cliche. That's what they do. You really are reaching at this point.

I didn't mind his character, when he was first introduced, but the biggest problem with him, is how little his character added to the show. At least they killed him.:lol

I'm liking this season, but i'd be lying if i wasn't disappointed in certain aspects, the pace of it doesn't exactly scream "we planned this all along". It's the final season, and the characters still don't talk like real people.:lol Certain characters are also being annoyingly cryptic. (at least they killed two of those characters), it's very disappointing they are still playing to that "annoying" lost cliche when it's the final season.

Also in terms of episode quality it's being in-consistent with great episodes being followed up with "average / weak" episodes like "what kate did"

The season should hopefully pick up in high-gear when it gets to the second half. (like every lost season).

I'm also skeptical of how the "flashsideways" are going tie into the series, the writers say it's "important" but how important is it going be? :/ expect to be underwhelmed when they reveal how it ties into the series, let's hope the writers surprise me.

Or maybe I'll watch a generally good show, like The Wire which doesn't have to retcon or make shit up on the fly. Seriously, gtfo with that :lol

If you can't admit the similar ideological jest of every scene mentioned in your post, I'm wasting my time. It's a constant parade of faith, and "if you do this, holy shit everyone dies/world ends/etc." It was interesting at first but it comes off quite stale today.

You're bitching about normal human reaction to uncertainty/suspense/profound actions? :lol Are you kidding me? :lol

Lost and the real world we live in right now are full of hierarchies of intelligence. Whichever one you're in, they all have uncertainty and fear that extremely effect emotion.

A kid.. scratching dads car... "WHAT HAVE I DONE?!? OH GOD." Past Neo-gaf thread: "Gun owning man accidentally shoots wife at night. "OH GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE." (holds higher weight than a child scratching a car but they both experience high levels of fear and anxiety in their scenario.)

When the radio transceiver got sabotaged early season 1 it struck the audience and the cast members emotionally. We thought it fucked up their chances getting off. Flash forward to when Locke didn't press the button "OH GOD." (It holds higher weight than the receiver.)

Sorry that you dislike REALITY.

Go bitch about the sky being blue outside everyday and in a bunch of movies as well.

Edit: Re-read if you haven't read my final version of this post.
