Hits = advertisements = revenue = more content = more hits = more advertisements = more revenue.
This is how the internet and television market works.

It's not about how much the grunts get paid...Gigglepoo said:Do you think I get paid based on page views?
Gigglepoo said:Yeah, I don't get a raise based on page views, though. If you have a problem with specific points from my review text, feel free to post them. Just take off the tinfoil hat first.

Its fucking retarded that they make you play the game while you talk about it. Neither thing gets done well then.Gigglepoo said:Well, the video isn't supposed to be a review. I was just showing off the game for people. I think I explained my position in the review text. I was really looking forward to LostWinds, so I was disappointed that it didn't click with me. Everything is subjective, though. My main complaints were about the art and presentation. If you like the look of the underground sections and the music didn't lull you into a stupor, you'll like the game more than I did. It's far from a bad game. I tried to make the review pretty positive (despite the relatively low score) because of all the good ideas present. It just fell short as a game. Personally, I am looking forward to the sequel.
It's not really co-op as much as it is letting someone have their own remote to take part in the game. Much like the second controller does in Super Mario Galaxy.Gigglepoo said:So has anyone actually take advantage of co-op play in this?

Ah, then I apologize. I didn't even mean to be so harsh when I said "idiot". That's just one of my mannerisms. Friends are used to it, random people I don't know, not so much. There does seem to be a couple of bugs in LostWinds that you could pass along to the developers too, maybe they can issue a fix or something.Laeth said:OoooOO, okies. ArtG said:The only real gripe I have with the GameSpot review is that attacking it for its length seems odd. What were you expecting from a $10 game? I suppose it gets back to the Calling All Cars! review that GameSpot did. What's the right amount of content for downloadable games? I think some reviewers are still struggling with how to approach that question.
ArtG said:I completely disagree with Gigglepoo on the audio/video presentation, but hell, those are completely subjective and he feels what he feels. Life goes on!

Soka said:The only impression you gave me is that your opinion on games is so much different from mine that I'll likely ignore future reviews from you. Not that your writing or explanations were bad, but you seem to have much different standards for what makes a game good from my own, and that doesn't help me figure out if I'll like a game.
well, you review does raise the question 'what (the fuck) does the review consider a worthy wiiware game?'. apparently LW met (or even overshot) most people's expectations, whereas in your case it was the opposite. so out of curiosity, what kind of LW-style production would've earned a, say, 8+ from you?Gigglepoo said:I hope people don't get the impression I like crap because LostWinds didn't tickle my fancy.
Gigglepoo said:It is difficult to determine value based on game length - that's one of the reasons I didn't dwell on LostWinds taking me only 3 hours to finish. It's only brought up two times in my review. It's listed in The Bad so people know right away that this is a 3 hour game. If they don't care about length, they can remove that from my complaints. The only other time I brought it up was in my paragraph about presentation when I said, "It's a shame that half of this three-hour adventure takes place in the dank underbelly of this fantastic little village."
The length did not figure prominently in my review score. But, as a comparison, the last game I reviewed was Assault Heroes 2. It is also $10 but it took about 10 hours to finish the single player campaign. Usually, I would rather have a short game that never loses focus rather than one that artificially extends the experience by adding unnecessary quests. I just don't think LostWinds provided an amazing 3 hour experience.
No offense taken. I've heard far worse things directed at me because of this review. Someone on another board said I should go back to playing 'roided up FPS! Ugh... I hope people don't get the impression I like crap because LostWinds didn't tickle my fancy.

ArtG said:I'd be interested to hear how that can effect your mindset when you're going into a review. Obviously, you're not going to give a game a score you don't think it deserves; but at the end of the day, reader reaction is something that is in the back of your mind, is it not?

The game is more of Ico in platforming, but the control method is very unique and is only possible with the Wii.
The art style of the game is just so beautiful and the background music is just luscious.
The game definitely has its own issues due to backtracking and some glitches, but overeall, the game is a must if you're a fan of any of this game:
* Platformers
* Puzzles
* Ico
* Portal
It doesn't hurt it's only $10 anyway.

trinest said:I will defend GigglePoo on this one. We for so long are used to 8 - 10 scores for games even crap ones we have forgoten what numbers mean. A 5 is an average game not a garbage game. 7+ means we are starting to see more magical things.
While I agree the game should have a higher score, because I'm yet to play it I wont say much.
I think DS could have handled this control method more effectively and accurately. That said, as a retail release it wouldn't be long enough for the price, and the developer would have had to eat the cost of production, so WiiWare was probably the necessary vehicle here.Arde5643 said:LW is definitely one of the best WiiWare games out now.

Hmm, I wouldn't really have called the game a platformer at all, I think that might be your problem with it. Would you call games like ICO or Knytt platformers?Gigglepoo said:Thanks, I am a reviewer who not only uses the whole scale, but thinks 5 represents an average game. Compared to other platformers, I thought LostWinds was slightly above average. That's not a bad thing.
