I'm also kind of LTTP to this game as I played it for a bit on a friend's borrowed copy back in the 90s, and I'm fully playing it for the first time now that I have a Wii U. I'm loving the game thus far, just got to the Threed town and was definitely freaked out by the part with the woman and the hotel, I think it was the creepy music that really disturbed me, had to put the game down last night. Looking forward to continuing later today.

OP, you pretty much summed up my own impressions of the game when I did my first playthrough last year.
But personnally, I really really prefer a memorable, creative game with average and sometimes boring game design than a good but forgettable game. That's just me though, I've always had weird criterias for games >_>
