Just finished Black Lagoon. It rocks, hard.

Nope, that is pretty much typical anime.

I respect your opinion since you haven't seen it and you have based your entire judgement on a Google image search. So much respect. Thank you for your input.

Damn I miss the days of dark anime like AKIRA, GitS, Ninja Scroll and Cowboy Beebop. I have wondered what happened to this in the anime world. Why the change to the squeaky clean look? are there any animes like this still around?

O yea. Berserk is awesome and I suggest people to check out Gantz for some sick gore (manga is better). Where would Elfin Lied fit?

I blame the death of hand cel-painting. Now that anime is generated on computers, no one really takes the time to make anything of value these days.

Strangely, a thread with nothing in particular missing from it's titles.

Obviously I have to disagree with the inevitable "modern anime is worthless argument".

Apart from Space Adventure Cobra : Original and New Version

Riding Bean

Gunsmith Cats

Goku Midnight Eye

Cyber City Oedo

Gambling Apocalypse Kaiji – The Suffering Pariah – The Ultimate Survivor

And for other threads :

Recommend me some anime from the 80's

Please reccomend samurai anime (and movies!)

Anime GAF, need suggestions on fighting anime

recommend me a badass anime movie

Non-furry-catgirl-loli-kawaii-teardrops anime recommendations?

manime = everyone's well adjusted and no-one cares. Things that can be solved with an explosion often are.

I don't think anyone is very well adjusted in Black Lagoon :lol

Jojo and Kenshiro. I mean, Kenshiro is probably the biggest badass character in the history of manga/anime, you can look at my avatar for more manliness

Jotaro Kujo comes close, and his daughter is no less awesome

this is the kind of stuff us brothers of moe have to deal with. >_>
how do you approach something like this that is so self evidently wrong?

Gao Gai Gar, bitches!

Outside of the yelling, it was a kids show. I never felt any bad assery from the show, never understood the love of "gar" for the show when it was one of the most repetitive mecha shows ever, and that's hard feat to achieve. All the non mecha parts were so awful

gar had nothing to do with GGG, GAR was originally for archer in fate/stay.
GAR is badass manly.
not hotblooded.

I loved the animation also but the story and characters kinda did nothing for me. Not even on a very basic action movie level.

It's alright to be wrong twice a day. You're like a stopped clock!

I predict there will be a hand-drawn anime revival eventually. Of course, at that point, it may be difficult to find talented cel painters.

Manly hot-blooded mangaka Kazuhiko Shimamoto recommends episode 23 of Heartcatch Precure to men everywhere: http://twitter.com/simakazu/status/18545508453

I was about to disregard this entirely, but I couldn't remember who Kazuhiko Shimamoto was. Then, I looked him up and realized that this was the mangaka who gave us Blazing Transfer Student so, um, gosh, I reckon it's Precure for me. For those of you who dunno what BTS is, the show opening should sell you on it's raw power and overwhelming manliness.

He just say Revvy, and to his defence she looks like a Hentai star in google images

on the other hand if he would watch the 1st ep. of BL he will see the light.

Revvy = Best female chracter in the Anime industry by miles.

Best female character by miles? I wouldn't say that...

yes i would

Too bad most MANime from the 80's and early 90's were so terrible from a direction/story telling perspective. Otherwise the violence, setting and art styles were ace.

It totally blows. The most violent anime of the year (which has zombies!) is full fan service cutesy, ecchi rubbish. What I wouldn't give for some *real* modern MANime. Anime is practically a parody of itself at this point.

Character dialogue and motivations did nowt for me. What can I say?

Nothing, taste is taste, I was just being overly harsh because of your above comments about modern anime.

Dresden said:
Nah, you wouldn't.

She's not even the best female character in her own series.

Well played sir.

There are plenty of excellent female characters in anime, but Revy isn't near the top. Even if she is fun.

I felt the urge to bump this for some reason.

Now here is some truly mindless Manime that also has the effect of trolling certain people, because they hate it with an insane passion.

I remember these being on an old VHS I had as a kid. They blew my mind. Haven't watched them in years so I can't say how they stand up though.

There is so much super crazy anime that only appeared on VHS and is still absent from DVD even in Japan. Mad Bull 34 being an example (people should so youtube that show..NSFW though).

Baki has too much shit between fights.

Well, that's what I thought like 4 DVDs in to my boxed set. Does it get better?
