Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - overview trailer (JP)

Once I spotted the 59fps oddity with MK8, I could never unsee it. I'll be nabbing this purely to never have to see that again.

I own a Wii U, and whereas it's very nice that it finally got a new Zelda game in the release of BotW for that, the fact that the two best looking games for Switch, Zelda and MK8D, are essentially both on a system I already own, I've found zero reasons for me to buy it. I'll probably just skip this gen and come back for, what, "Switch U"?

I actually own this on Wii U but never ended up playing it much. Now that it's portable I'll going to enjoy this a lot more. Can't wait.

Splatoon 2, ARMS, Xenoblade 2 and Mario Odyssey say hi, and those are all just year 1.

Is that really Gold Mario? They kidding with that garbage?

Really.

You will switch a whole generation because the two games in the system's first few months are ports?

Are people going crazy in this forum?

Actually, I'd like to try Mario when that comes out, but I've no interest in the rest. What I found with the Wii U is that outside of main-line Mario games, Zelda, and the party games (mostly Mario Kart and Party), there are better alternatives on PC antway. Specifically, I was hugely disappointed by Bayonetta 1 and 2, Pikmin 3, and Splatoon which felt like a poor man's alternatives to more substantial games on PC, PS4, and Xbone.

Omg

To what action game is Bayonetta a "poor mans alternative"???

Who is even making multi platform games equivalent to Pikmin?

I really wish that Wii U MK8 owners could pick this up at a good discount. I'm sure as hell not spending € 50 - 60 on what is practically the same game.

Blurry mess? Don't blame the game for your TV's poor upscaling and/or calibration.

Anyway, on topic: I loved Mario Kart 8 on Wii U and I'm thinking about double dipping. But I'm a bit worried about having to do the time trials again for gold wheels. My right index hurt for days after last time. :-/

Obviously the blurry mess that botw is on my 4k 65' tv is the upscaler fault, not the 900p 25fps game.

Get out.

Man, this thing is gonna sell Switches. I already played the hell of it on the Wii U and i'm excited, i can't imagine how excited the folks that never played it and bought a Switch are feeling right now.

Now, with the 8 player local running on 8 systems, if you somehow managed to find 8 TVs will the game let you effectively do a LAN party? Or will putting the Switch in dock mode disable 8 player local?

I found the gameplay of Bayonetta very repetitive and the style, story, characters too cheesy and cliche, even for a game which intentionally aims for over-the-top. I'd much rather play Darksiders, Castlevania, or DmC (of which I admittedly only played the reboot).

I'd rather take virtually any PC RTT over Pikmin 3, but of course PC RTT/RTS games have the advantage of M+KB, and I will concede that no cartoony RTTs other than Pikmin come to mind. I just don't think the theme and style make up for the tedious gameplay, though -- especially not for an RTT.

Huh, weird, so we have 3 retro tracks and 5 new ones? Not that I'm complaining, but I was expecting the usual 4/4

There's no usual number for battle courses in the series though, for example Mario Kart DS has 4 new battle courses + 2 retro.

It is a bit disappointing they couldn't develop 10 battle courses since they finished DLC Pack 2. In this regard, with its 10 battle courses, Mario Kart Wii is still unequalled.

I have the Wii U version. DlC too. I'm torn because I have a Switch and I want more high quality games on it. MK8D looks awesome but man... why can't it have new tracks or just be super cheap?

I agree completely with you on that point, new tracks or a way to get MK cheaper for those that bought it on Wii U would have been a much better proposition for those like you.

MK8 is a evergreen title. It sold really good on Wii U.

I know it sold very well but on a quite limited user base, my point is that the game still has a good shot of being one of Switch's killer app even if it has not been handled as well as it could have been.

any chance of a bundle with MK? that could make me jump to the switch train....
I can see that bundle for Christmas but it would be nice to get one for my summer vacation
