We are planning to offer a web service called “Mario Kart TV” (temp.), which also enables users to watch videos in a screen layout suitable for systems such as smart devices and computers, around the same time as the release of “Mario Kart 8.”

This is the layout for a smartphone. This web service will enable more people to easily watch Nintendo’s official videos, view rankings, watch videos that their friends have shared and videos of tournaments in which they have participated.

Our policy is to establish consumer relationships based on accounts named Nintendo Network IDs, which are abbreviated as NNIDs. This “Mario Kart TV” (temp.) web service is available even for players without NNIDs, but by logging into the service with an NNID, they will be able to easily find their rankings, videos that their friends have shared, videos of tournaments in which they have participated, and it will be convenient to access this service through smart devices even when they are not at home.

The app is cool, but it's a shame that it only plays the Youtube video. We really need to pester Nintendo about a patch that let's you upload entire races to Youtube like you can to Miiverse.

Not sure why they don't bother implementing a simple feature. It's definitely a gripe I have with Mario Kart's online.

Well, they got Double Dash right at least. Rating super circuit and 7 a 9 and the DS game an 8 is crazy talk though.

Super Circuit and 7 are my favourites so I agree with those scores. Double Dash shoulda been higher though. The DS version was really good too. I haven't played the Wii version enough to judge it.

I'm expecting a decent score from Edge. Not that any review is gonna sway me; The only Mario Kart game I played and didn't love was MK64 and I still played that a bunch.

I am prepared to obsess over friend ghosts in Time Trials.

My one concern is the Blue Shell frequency that the other review complained about, everything else (sans battle mode) makes this seem like the best MK game yet.

It varied based on character in MK7, though Metal Mario was the only one who broke the mold of being smaller than the rest of his weight class.

Listen, people not holding their end of the embargo is irritating for us gaming press as well. I can imagine anyone playing a good game wants to talk about it as fast as possible and I can't for the life of me understand how some journalists can break embargo after embargo and not get punished because of it. Perhaps its the smaller blogs who have a devil may care-attitude or something.
