holy shit this game is so pretty.
like damn odyssey got some competition
So as a Switch and M+R owner (who feels like the Switch is easily a top 3 console of all time for me):
Does this game look a bit...Muddy? Like, the visuals are beautiful, but it always looks just a HAIR out of focus. What gives?
Seems to be an artistic choice: a combination of anti-aliasing to smooth out edges and eliminate jaggies, and a depth of field effect to gently blur that which is not in focus (usually to convey distance). I think it works well here since the game has this sculpted look and feel to its materials, like they're handcrafted out of clay. I'd love to see someone make dioramas of these maps.So as a Switch and M+R owner (who feels like the Switch is easily a top 3 console of all time for me):

I haven't unlocked Peach yet, but is that a shotgun she has? Looks like the weapon used by the burly shield guys.I love everything about this shot
I love everything about this shot
The combination of their aggressive AA solution and DOF seems to be the issue.
Cause is both the anti-aliasing solution and heavy depth of field effect which make the game look very blurry especially compared to every first-party Nintendo game. I'm not a fan of it.

Is this native 1080p 30fps docked?
900p@30FPS with some drops.
I think the worst framerate offender I got was when the camera closed up on Rabbid Peach while it had its shield active, the drop was very noticeable.
I haven't had any hitches. Only a millisecond of slowdown once when Mario activated his overwatch (the aura, not the move). Otherwise it's been buttery smooth.Yeah some of the close-ups on status effects activating are kind of stuttery, along with random hitches here and there where the game locks up for a few seconds (although I haven't been able to attribute it to anything in particular and it's only happened twice).
The game does look ridiculously good. They did a really good job on this game, It's shocking they were able to do it considering the hardware. It looks better than some PS4/X1 games.
Playing a game that looks this good on basically a tablet is a bit surreal. I sometimes gotta do a double take.
This game is fire man.

Most of the time the framerate is alright though.
Then again... Mario Odyssey doesn't look that much worse and runs at 60 fps...
Hey, thanks for the kind words. Knowing someone enjoys this stuff makes the long upload process all worthwhile.Dude you should become a photographer you certainly have a nice eye for detail.
Your screens always look amazing.

I'm smitten with how handcrafted this game looks. I wonder how many unique objects were modeled for this game. Lots of assets!

I think Odyssey looks significantly worse. Anti-aliasing, lighting and colors seem better in Mario + Rabbids. I always thought Odyssey looked like it could have been done on the Wii U, though who knows if they can get it up to 1080p before launch.
Rabbids is the best looking Switch game. I can't even grasp anyone thinking Oddyssey looks near this.
I have to agree with this, surprisingly. I'm sure Nintendo micro-managed this to hell and back though, so I'm not giving Ubi too much credit. This game has better art direction than Odyssey. It looks great.
Nah, I don't think it has to do with Nintendo micromanaging anything. Ubisoft just has incredible artists and animators who felt inspired working on this game. Another example is Rayman Legends, which has better art direction and animation than most Nintendo games.I have to agree with this, surprisingly.
