Odyssey has to run at 60fpsI have to agree with this, surprisingly. I'm sure Nintendo micro-managed this to hell and back though, so I'm not giving Ubi too much credit.

Rabbids is the best looking Switch game. I can't even grasp anyone thinking Oddyssey looks near this.

Yeah, I think the fact odyssey goes for more 'realistic' environments doesn't do it any favours in showing the limitations of the hardware.
Which one, the enemy with the boob-cannons? Does Fire Emblem have boob-cannon baddies?Wait, was that a fucking FIRE EMBLEM RABBID?

...did I just see a Marth Rabbid?
This game has a "toys come to life" premise (similar to Smash), hence the shiny plasticine look to the character's clothing.Graphics are great, but I wish their jumpers were more denim looking...

The game begins with Mario merchandise being sucked into a time machine along with a headset that merges items together. Thus, the Rabbids (and various mundane everyday objects including toilets) are sucked into the Mushroom Kingdom and merged with the Mario universe.
It's a fun setup that could be used for sequels, as well!
Mario + Rabbids 2: Hyrule Kingdom Battle :-DFirst thought in my head for a sequel is Mario + Zelda + Rabbids. Mostly because I just realize there's usually Zelda easter eggs in the Mario universe that those Rabbids might shove in their washing machine. That and the idea of playing as a Rabbid Link makes me smile.
You should go back and look at those other games. They feel a lot more abstract and empty compared to Kingdom Battle, with 3D World and 3D Land taking place on levels floating in an abyss. From an art direction perspective, it looks exactly like all the 3D Marios to me. Colourful, vibrant, fun, playful, great overall. I don't see what makes this particular game stand out.
One touch I like is how the large colored blocks you see in the background have this textured finish you can only see when the light hits them at the right angle. Many props have solid primary colors and simple shapes but are subtly detailed when examined up close. The use of materials is great in this game.I really like the shader used for the grass, and even more so the ones used on the round tubes of grass that surround the outside of the areas sometimes.
RIP my phones data limits :'(. Came into read about game, didn't realise a little way down the page was a screen explosion. I need more data.
As to this being a good looking game... It's all right, bit there's a lot of visible shortcuts being taken, occasional low res effects and frame drops. Plus an annoyingly locked camera which doesn't let you appreciate much. It's just okay to me.
