I hope I can mod some of this shit away cause this is absolutely awful. Dead eyes and weird facial movement, not to mention plastic skin.

The first footage that we saw had really impressive graphics but now they've been downgraded to the point where they're just kinda there. Nothing impressive or even remotely interesting about the way the game looks now.

I don't find this surprising at all, considering BioWares evidently mediocre engine talent. Frostbite could allow so much better visuals even in a large scale game.

What I find most surprising is the very noticeable texture pop in even on the PC footage they've been showing. Looks really ugly, and I can't imagine it would be any better on console.

Is there a way we can recreate the face of my beloved Shepard?

Such an beautiful face, wish I had the knowledge to make him in the character creator but will prob come up with some derpy looking dude, but will prob still be better than the pre-made, so plain and generic imo, how is that the best they could come up with?

One thing I'm finding odd about all footage of FemRy is that she seems to have this awkward smile the entire time. Maybe that's why it looks like she's got botox in her cheeks?

noot noot

Yeah, this looks really weird. Where did you capture this from? Seeing as we're going to be listening to hours and hours of conversations in the game, this is one thing they've gotta fix. It's so distracting.

I think one of the huge differences is that Dice made extensive use of photogrammetry in both Battlefield 1 and Battlefront.

It doesn't seem Bioware is using this at all (at least from what I've read/seen).

So they are relying solely on an artist instead of using actual real-world props to give things unique and highly detailed textures which just can't compare to photogrammetry.

Some if you guys are starting to sound like "boy who cried downgeade"
It was a freaking cinematic CGI trailer using some ingame models. In all trailers release by EA it even said "THIS VIDEO IS NOT REPRESENTITIVE OF INGAME FOOTAGE" below the screen.

Nobody was lying here.

And holyshit thw hate hardon some of you have for this game is turning into incredible stupid levels.
I thibk the animation is really bad, the eyes are dead and that the whiteness in ot is seriously affecting the look of the game. I probably have stated that in the majority of threads that we were talking about grapics in the game. But some of you are going the extra mile to hate everything on it when they actually have shown very promising stuff gameplay wise (thay doesnt resemble DA:I).
The game being crap could be a possibility, but every thread being a hurr hurr dragon age infinty, hurr hurr face animation kills the whole game, it starting to get stale.

There it is. The new "T-pose"

I am liking the humour in this game more than previous entries. Impeccable timing by your squadmate to lighten the scene. Making a last ditch attempt to play to the Ketts humour. Valient effort in the midst of battle!

Yeah, but I'm more worried about the faces modeling and the animations. And after reading some of the first impressions on the story and so, I'm holding the buy on this one till I see the final reviews.
And this is coming from someone who loved the original trilogy...

I think this is going to be the new Shepard "sexy face" moment, courtesy of the Easy Allies Stream, running on a PS4. I imagine we'll get a lot of screen captures of custom Ryders making this face...

Some (hell, a lot) of the art in this game is amazing, it almost feels like Bioware is making their faces bad on purpose now. I just don't understand it.

lol is Bethesda doing the character models? Srsly though thats creepy as hell..not to mention pretty bad.

Let's agree to disagree.

No, Miranda is a terribly pale, plasticky imitation of the real woman, but that was almost a decade ago with last gen tech holding it back, and the result still looks better than anyone in Andromeda.

I am actually starting to wonder if they're this ugly on purpose infact. Maybe they decided to go for a 'down to earth, average folks' look, in contrast to the superhero like characters from the original trilogy, and just really overcompensated. I mean as obviously terrible as that idea would be, it at least makes more sense than a studio this big having no competent character artists and renderers on staff.

But then again, that wouldn't explain how the animations have also seeming worsened too...

Maybe Miranda's boobs are distracting you guys because aside from the way the sides of her jaw are sloped she looks very much like the actress who gives her life.

That's baffling. Well one that I'm sure we can both agree on is Ashley. Her in game model doesn't even come close to looking right.

Not sure if you're joking or not, I reckon she looks spot on like Ashley!

Been watching some game snippets and I think the world looks amazing, some seriously good graphical effects going down too all over the show during combat and exploration: I'm content for sure.

And it's absolutely a great looking game:

Tbh these screenshots Shinobi posted look very average when compared to the current greatest like Horizon or for a better example SWBF/BF1.

If Ryder is modelled after this woman then I want to see her without makeup, maybe that's the real "issue" here? They just went with no makeup for this game?

I don't think that makeup is the issue here, proportions on in-game models are just all wrong and different from the real life base - the eyes and mouth are a lot bigger for example.

It's the eyes. The eyes are rendered significantly worse now. Was that really the thing that would tank the performance and they had to cut out some rendering from them?

I can't be the only one to see a kind of Star Wars Rebels esque quality to the appearance of the characters.

I will play as fem-Ryder just to see those facial Animations, gosh i laugh everytime i see them.

OT: I don't really see a downgrade here, the visual fidelity is more than fine in my opinion

1) Just looks like changes in the art to me, not really downgrades

2) Regardless the faces in this game are some creepy shit.

Such a bummer really. The eyes are the most important part. I'm currently playing Horizon and the eyes are the most impressive thing about the characters, they're so beautiful and moves like in real life where they kind of shift where on the characters face they focus (left eye, right eye, mouth etc), it looks sooo real.

I've not seen the trailer this is from but are we sure this isn't her deliberately holding the gun the wrong way? The character has been described as a bit of a ditz so maybe it's intentional?

Nope, she shoots a drone out of the air moments later. They just put one of their most iconic pistols, the design of which was even in ME1, the wrong way around.

Take a look at the eyes. The difference is like night and day.

Yeah that's the only real downgrade though. Everything else is just lighting/TOD changes. Fingers crossed modders can fix the reflection maps for the eyes. At the very least new eye textures will be easy to create.

Alright, I think it's time for me to get off the train to crazy town. Also, while it's not unreasonable to expect better from Bioware at this point people acting like the animation jank in this game is somehow inconsistent with the rest of the series probably haven't played a Mass Effect game in awhile. Anyways, everyone enjoy your trip to crazy town!

Nope, can't find the exact trailer were it appeared, but I remenber clearly that she was actually shooting it, and a gun flash came from there lol
Edit: found it

Ugh. Female Ryder looks like a cartoon character. That blocky hair isn't helping either.

Jesus. What the hell is wrong with Bioware?

Everything about this game looks like they cut corners. It spent too much time in development and for some reason they had nothing to show for it for years, then suddenly they decide to release it with little fanfare and it doesn't look great. Seems like they hit a deadline and just put together whatever they could and just called it a day.

Budget constrain. Game is super ambitious, with 1000 NPCs. Unless they hire a lot more animators and modeler, something gonna give.

It's not like this is some random NPC. It's one of the main party members, the one who appears the most in the marketing material. If this is the attention they paid to her, I can't imagine what the standard for the rest of the content is.

Thats still the most disturbing thing regarding the animations. I can handle a missing eye shader and get used to dead-eyed jank but this is just silly stuff.

Facial animations are still pretty rough, but going by the recent streams they've improved that particular issue

These games and the productions the devs have to go through is why I vastly prefer stylized graphics in ambitious projects.

I just can't be immersed in the story when the NPC's look like this, it's impossible.
