Masuda announcing something on Pokemon Smash next Sunday

Sure, it's possible, but Masuda works at Game Freak and Game Freak only makes mainline Pokemon RPGs. One would think that if it's Masuda making the announcement, it has something to do with the mainline Pokemon RPGs that he works on.

I would actually rather see a Pokemon Stadium type of game be a downloadable 3DS game that could import your Pokemon from the DS games.

No, I'm pretty sure it's like the old GB/GBC carts, where the GBC only carts lacked a notch that prevented them from fitting into the old Gameboys.

From the HG/SS days, the scan leaks were generally out between the 12th-15th of the month.
 
Everyone should really drop their expectations, seems Serebii jumped the gun on this one. PokeBeach is reporting that it's probably not a new game, and I trust them more than Serebii (Serebii has an attitude problem and tried to be the first one to post everything, so seems maybe he didn't do his research fully). Here's what PokeBeach says...

Note: Many sites are reporting that Junichi Masuda is revealing a new Pokemon game next week, but there is no factual basis for this. The mistake came from sites misinterpreting the episode summary on Pokemon Smash's website early yesterday, which states the "latest game information" will be revealed on September 18th's episode. Many took that to be news of a new game. But then after yesterday's episode actually aired, it became obvious that next week's episode summary is simply referring to the Mewtwo distribution that Mr. Masuda will detail. There could be a game announcement since Mr. Masuda rarely comes on the show, but at this time there is simply no evidence to suggest it.

So I would lower your expectations, seems like this really could be a whole lot of hoopla over nothing. It does seem weird though, so I wouldn't say it's not possible for a new announcement.
 
Serebii jumping the gun without fact-checking? *shock and awe*

But yeah what's this about a Mewtwo distribution? Any interesting moves maybe? =) Best case scenario I guess is that there's a game announcement at Nintendo's pre-TGS conference and he details it more fully on the show.

I remember when Serebii was the first to report B/W game news and he said he had a legit copy of the game. He acted as if the protection nintendo put on the game was part of the game (Not being able to level). It was funny when he was found out to be playing a rom.
 
Damn, so much for all those other awesome ideas! I think Iwata or someone said we'd get more 3DS Pokemon titles this year though, so maybe there is still hope for something else this year.

You play as Pikachu on an adventure. Some people like it due to there being "real-time battles." It's not bad, but it's a B-tier Pokemon game.

The tiers (imo) are

AAA: Main handheld RPGS (including third-versions and remakes)
AA: PMD, Ranger, Stadium, Snap
A: TCG, Pinball, the GCN games, PBR
B: Rumble, Pokepark, most others
D: Dash, channel

I thought it was a minigames collection... where are the battles in that game? Have I missed something?

Nope, Pokébeach is wrong. It is something big. Hell, Masuda himself is revealing this. Whenever Masuda appeared on the show, he either revealed new Pokémon or game (BW). If he's revealing, it must be something he made. Mewtwo wi fi distrubution has been hinted before, and it's not something game producer himself could announce.

That "?" has to be Keldeo and game should be Grey.

For me it's more like:

AAA: PMD, Snap
AA: Main RPGS, Ranger
Advanced A: Stadium, Pinball
A: GCN games, PokePark
Rookie: Ambrella games
