How many Smash N64 sold? I hope Brawl pass it.
1.6 million going by Famitsu.
Shouldn't have any trouble passing that, unless it severely drops (like 90%) in the next few weeks.

No way its gonna drop that badly. It will probably do Wii Fit numbers (60k-70k)

WE will tank..at 25k.

I'm glad for DMC4 still hanging in there. Combined with the 360 version, about 300k copies have been sold, right? Is that good compared to DMC 1, 2 and 3?

Just to reiterate my position on the WE Wii (that's fun to say) stuff.

I might end up being wrong, but I'm hoping for >100K for the Wii version first week or maybe after two weeks. They really integrated the controls into the game (i.e. they're not slapped on), and there are already reports of it getting good advertising. I've said before that since it is following Brawl's release, I think it'll be a good test to see if core gamers are becoming more active on the system now.

Lately (after psp slim launch) they do.
Looking at PSPs share in overall software sales, not really, but this might at least partly be a result of support having dried up beforehand.

Today Nintendo Channel has been updated, a new long video for WE (7 minutes), but i also noticed Family Ski has 3 videos, maybe Nintendo realized, after very good sales, that there is another 3rd party game besides WE...

Seems like most of people is interested in WE first week sales and we have 2 different ways of thinking : for some it will be a bomba, as WE6fe was on GC, for others sales will be pretty decent...
My bet is around 30-40k first week, hope it will have legs to reach 100k

I think that would be acceptable to Konami- this is basically like launching a new franchise in many respects.

So everyone's predicting WE will bomb, and will sell < 25k? That is great news!

This gives us a strong indication that it will do extremely well and shatter the 100k mark!

4. PS3 - 17,637

That's a bit of a shame. I had hoped the PS3 would stabilize rather than continuing the cycle of big release spike followed by continual slide until the next big game release.

Now that we're well past the holidays and the major release weeks have passed, it shouldn't be surprising actually. We hadn't seen anything to show otherwise, right?

The PS3 has gone through harsher times before hasn't it? I mean wasn't it selling below 10k per week for a little while? I remember it being a doom n gloom period because I think that NPD month it sold pretty terribly as well.

PSP MOH:H2 sold better than the Wii version. :(

I can't see there being a market for the game in Japan, TBH. People who like western games have a 360 or at least a PS3 and buy FPS games for those platformers. It's a B-tier FPS, which is fine in a region with a seemingly limitless desire for FPSs but not so fine in a region where they're niche.

I would assume the main appeal of the game to FPS fans in Japan would be "portable FPS", which is a category in which MOH:H2 actually is relevant.

Yeah all those Japanese HD-DVD buyers are going to really jump into blu-ray.

It wasn't just below 10k, it was under nine thousand.

Yes, but after the Holiday's and the beginning of January there seemed to be signs that sales wouldn't get this low again.

I know it means nothing, but it would be fun to see if Wii are able to surpass DS in YTD in the next 2-3 weeks.

Yeah, I didn't think it would start dipping to where it's at again also. I thought it would stabilize at around high 20k to low 30k, but apparently, that's not the case. Let's see what happens in the upcoming weeks.

As for Wii, it looks like Wii Fit and Smash Bros. have done their part in keeping Wii sales at very healthy levels.

The PS3'll go up in 2 weeks or so.
Wonder how long it can stay with that.
If it can make it to Golden Week, I'd imagine those numbers would become the norm.

Sony really needs to get a more constant stream of software coming out to start sustaining any sales level higher than they are now.

Pacman became more distinct every week.
PS3 doing 17K is not a good sign. I was hoping for 20K / week, after those price cut and lower priced SKU.

Will it drop to 10K- again in March, or is this 17K an anomaly, and it will return to 20K next week ? I want PS3 as good 2nd console, at least for 5 more years. If they do this weekly #, there might not be sufficient varied game for it in the future.

March has Yakuza, so it's probably not gonna drop then.

But looking at what happened with DMC4, it will drop right back down. Bad bad sign for Sony.

well, first thing is just look at the price factor. How much is the PS3 sselling for in Japan?

$370?

Remember folks. Price drives almost everything.

Right now, the PS3 is the same price the PS2 was when it launched in Japan.

I dunno. By historical perspectives, even the Wii is expensive.
Gamecube launched at 200$ and never made these kinds of #s.
Its beyond price now. Japan has pretty clearly chosen a console to support.

Wii doing 79,000 this time of year is pretty good. With Mario Kart Wii, Everybody's Common Sense Training TV, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, and PES Play Maker 2008 releasing not long between each other and Golden Week in a couple of months, I think Wii should sustain quite a high level of sales.

PS3 at 18,000 isn't TOO surprising, but it's only a matter of time before the scarce releases make this thing crawl back below 15,000 and 10,000 a week.

I wouldnt apply that here mainly because of the competitor's(none around lol) price. Wii may be considered high price, but given the 2 other choices available, what do you take? The lower priced one with brand recognition or the higher one with brand recognition?
