3DS -- 24k
PSV - 13k
PS3 - 7k
PS4 and WiiU: 6k

This has to be the lowest hardware totals of all time perhaps. Thats just abysmal.

Yeah this is the true post-Golden week effect. Last year was also really bad (though not as bad). I remember it was the first time in ages the 3DS dropped below 40k and everything else was 10k and below. Dat mobile dominance.

My god, this is terrible.

It probably doesn't help that May has been a barren for most systems.
Well compared to last year this week is bad each year:

System | This Week |
----------------------------
| 3DS # | 36.162 |
| PSV | 11.564 |
| PS3 | 10.738 |
| PSP # | 6.833 |
| WIU | 6.058 |
| WII | 1.189 |
| 360 | 272 |

This will will probably be the way the PS4 will remain (if not worse), all year with the current
non-existent
game line-up of Japanese games.

Vita might go under the 10k line too which isn't good since there aren't any big games until Freedom Wars.

Is it really cell phones doing this or just poor games? Anyone have cell phone game stats compared to consoles?

What are Japanese gamers meant to buy on PS4? Late ports of Western games that they could've purchased over three months earlier? A Yakuza spin-off (also on PS3)? A paid Metal Gear demo (also on PS3)?

People need to understand this is post golden week so I expect next week will be better for everyone.

That being said this is the worst week in terms of hardware and maybe even software for a long time (possibly all time low).

Also surprise me the PS4 numbers difference with last week when there is a bundle with free FIFA launching tomorrow.

Vita and Wii U champions! Both are seeing an increase compared to last year.
:^)

On a more serious note. Dedicated handhelds and consoles look dead in Japan this week.

Well no, I get that but some people don't, which is why i'm asking. Handhelds and console games are shitty now and people are expecting record breaking hardware sells. Japanese titles have been suffering from quality degradation for like 5-6 years or so.

Wii U will bounce at least 2 times this year thanks to MK8 and Smash (if it's this year). PS4 has nothing though.
Yea i know.
What big title is even coming out on ps4 until 2015? FFXV, mgsV are 2015, KH3 is 2016 earliest...

the number of second hand PS4s is quite quite staggering.

Also - and this to me is the start of the big sea change - the bottom floor of the key Traders store in Akihabara has started moving it's video games premier store space out so that they can replace those areas with second hand mobile/tablets.

The change - it be coming
