Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
hint 1:

Website has a timeline and it includes those 3 games on it.

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
So for Vol II
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid 4 Gun's of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain.
Shame those will be just simple ports, 4k resolution is all you can hope for and I doubt MGS1 is gonna be rendered in HD based on those screenshots.
But imagine if they all had 4K HDR.
that would be nice

Ah. Well it's definitely not gonna fit in a cart that's for sure.

They might cheap out and go the cloud only route.

Or Digital only

I hope for Switch 2, Cartridges goes up in storage capacity. Instead of 32 GB being the limit, I would love to see 128 GB to 512 GB carts being used in Switch 2. But I'm guessing it would be crazy expensive to manufacture

Has something changed at Konami recently to suddenly make them care about their legacy games? I'd really love to own all the MGS games on one console...

I know it isn't the most popular opinion, but Peace Walker is one of my favorite games in the series. It laid the groundwork for MGS5's fantastic sandbox.

It's fantastic, the portable nature also means its a very quick pick-up-and-play game, you don't have to make dedicated hour long chunks of time just to see a cutscene like in MGS4.

This collection will go down as a failure if MGS4 doesn't make it.
I really hope it happens.
That game needs to be preserved beyond the PS3.

The game has multiple Nintendo execs as cameos in the Mantis segment IIRC, probably not gonna be easy bringing it to other platforms without content alternations.
They can be edited out. The old HD Collection also had console specific changes. 360 version of MGS3 had Xbox magazines on tables here and there so changes can be made.

Now getting MGS4 onto other/newer platforms would be quite something... I'll hope they'll do it. Also:

The "buttons" are used for the images.
history_timeline_pw.png

history_timeline_tpp_en.png

HTML:
                <div class="btn mgs4">
                    <div class="btn-inner">
                        <p class="copy en">
                            <img src="/mg/s/img/history/history_timeline_mgs4_copy_en.png?v2" alt="When warfare becomes a business affair">
                        </p>
                        <p class="img"><img src="/mg/s/img/history/history_timeline_mgs4.png"></p>
                    </div>
                </div>
It's used for the positioning of them over the timeline image.

CSS:
.cnt-history .history-timeline .btn.mgs4 {
  top: 88%;
}
@media screen and (min-width:860px) {
  .cnt-history .history-timeline .btn.mgs4 {
    top: 2%;
    left: 57%;
  }
}

MG, MGSS, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4 should have been Vol 1.

MGS3, Peace walker, GZ/MGS5, Should have been Vol 2.

Acid games should have also been included.

Change my mind...

Mgs4 will be a lot of work, it’s better to do a full remake. mgs 2 and 3 have been ported so many times, should be easy,

MGS4 would be awesome but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE include MGO2.
I know its highly unlikely but if they had Metal Gear Online 2 with an actual good framerate without PC emulation it would be amazing. It would immediately turn it into a must-buy for me.

Great. Peace Walker HD with twin stick controls vastly improves the game. It's a pipe dream they'd be able to port the online functionality but that would be amazing too.

MGS4 would be great with just a locked frame rate. It's MGO would be neat too but I don't know if that sort of jank is acceptable this day and age.

Portable Ops is missing and is one of the best scripts in the series.

Yeah, i said it.

They refuse to acknowledge that, which is a shame, it has some very good qualities and contributions to canon (...well, "Legacy Canon", since it's not included in official canon and some aspects of it have been retconned out in later games.) Should be in a Vol 2 IMO, or maybe a third "Metal Gear Alternate Collection" combining non-canon games like PO,ACID 1+2,GB, with Rising as its headliner.

Ghost Babel doesn't really fit into canon (especially after MGS2 made it clear that Snake wasn't this monk out in the tundra who just gets roped into soldier missions whenever there's an international crisis,), but I really enjoyed that and would like to see Konami acknowledge it again somehow.

Portable ops is the first time that Big Boss envisioned Outer Heaven and had the means to do it. Besides that the entire plotline is more concise and credible than Peace Walker and Phantom Pain.

When you think that way, it becomes way more important from the timeline pov than both of the canonical sequels.

Kojima disdain that game but he copied a fair share of gameplay mechanics on the "official" Big Boss trilogy.

Just for clarity, Portable ops is not canon

The only games that are official canon are games that are written and directed by Hideo Kojima:

Metal Gear
Metal gear 2
Metal Gear Solid
Metal gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid 4
Ground Zerous & Phantom Pain

Some more autistic detial about what is and isnt canon for those interested
