Metal Gear Solid V PC Performance Thread

If you didn't enjoy the game on PS4, then it stands to reason you probably won't enjoy it on PC either. I mean, nice graphics are nice, but it's only one piece of the puzzle, and nice graphics aren't going to make a non-enjoyable game more enjoyable, unless they were hindering gameplay in some fashion to begin with.

Kind of sounds like you answered your own question. :)

Yeah, but it's also like $12 so WHY NOT.

I'm weak. But I also haven't clicked 'buy' just yet. There might be hope for me still.

i7 5820k 3.3 ghz, 16 GB RAM, GTX970, Game installed on an SSD

All settings on Extra High gives me smooth and buttery 60 fps without dipping at all. Since I just got this new rig (build it last night) I haven't tried any of the fancy stuff like downsampling and the like.

sweet mother of optimization.

seem to be getting a locked 60fps at 1440p with a single 970 w/ shadows turned down a notch. just played for a bit though. anyone else with similar results?

-i7 3770, 8gb

Switching from borderless to fullscreen didn't change anything for me. Restarted Steam and game but nothing changed.

Edit: I made 2 changes and shift+tab, screenshots and messages work fine. I closed MSI Afterburner + Riva and i updated Steam to the beta version. Don't know which one did the job but i suspect Afterburner.

Hmm, I've had fraps running, updated my graphics drivers without a restart and not restarted steam in a day hahaha. I'll try all those things now!

I'm downsampling from 2715x1527 with everything maxed and getting 60fps.

2500k @ 4.5ghz
GTX 970

Running it on close to the highest possible settings.

Intel i7 4770 3.40GHz
8GB RAM
GTX 970 (EVGA)
550W PSU

A solid 60fps 99% of the time. Yay for no more vegetation pop in. Soldiers bodies still disappear though, guess that's just an engine thing. But I can see soldiers from way farther away than I could on PS3.

No problems, plays just as smooth, if not smoother, than the PS4 version.

And yeah, developers have said the game is locked at 60fps by the way. At least, if your rig can get to 60fps.

Okay, maxed everything out on my i3/7850 and frames went into the toilet. 26-36fps running around at the beginning. Weird thing is that it looks worse, it's strangely fuzzy. I dunno if that is due to the monitor/vsync and auto fps or what. High settings looked better and ran like a dream.

AMD owners with the itch to take everything to the max will be disappointed.

The 7970 OC'd is a 280X. So no, not until next gen for AMD at least.

Maybe when it comes to the ranking of what AMD has to offer, but a 7970 was always neck and neck or behind a GTX 680....and those cards are relatively low on the GPU ranking list at this point. You can't expect a card like a 7970 to offer 60 fps with max settings in every game anymore.

(when I say low, I mean in the rankings of cards that were once or are now top tier gpus)

Looks like my 670 4GB will keep me happy for the time being. Trying to push off upgrading until late 2015.

Nobody expects it to offer 60fps on a new game, but better than the shit it's at now and certainly higher than the 670 at least.

Can we get some screenshots of the game during the day missions?

The night/rain covered up a lot of the flaws when I played the PS3 version, but during the day it looked like absolute dogshit.

meh it runs fine on my 7970@1080p. I just don't have shadows and ssao on max. I never have actually because these settings are usually bullshit. minimal visual difference but huge FPS difference.

Gonna go trade in smash in twenty minutes since it's worth $45 bucks and I don't really like it.

Besides, there's some stuff on the sale alongside GZ that I'll be wanting.

My specs:

GTX580 1.5gb
Core i5 2500k @ 4.5GHZ 24/7 stable for the last three years that I've owned my rig.
4GB DDR3 1600

I really need to look into overclocking my CPU. Does anyone have a good basic guide? I have an overclocking-friendly CPU along with a good aftermarket fan.

Running at 60FPS for me with everything on extra high @ 1080p

I have an i7-4790k , GTX 970 and 16 GB or RAM @2133

Is it me or there is no AA options? I can see jaggies.

Familiarize yourself with Nvidia inspector.

Does GEDOSATO work with this game? Haven't been home yet or keeping up. If yes, that is an excellent option for downsampling and forcing AA.

I hope I can get a locked 60fps with reasonable settings on my 7970. I don't need maxed (and I typically turn off things like motion blur and DoF anyway), but those benchmarks have me a bit concerned.

Anyone try sweetfx yet?

I have everything on extra high expect SSAO, smooth game.

Going back to Elite for now, I have some coffee to deliver.

I'm interested to see how my config will run this.

7790 1 GB
8 GB RAM
FX-4130

As more of these games come out, it becomes more and more apparent that 1 GB isn't gonna cut it with these new games coming out.

dude you are lucky it even started! :P

LOL - Literally fixed everything - even the framerate is now locked 30fps in all circumstances haha. I'm still amazed how far below minimum spec this thing runs, but more amazing still is the fact I didn't care or realise I had all those things running - I've never had to worry about specs even though my laptop is ancient!.

This game is joy to play and it looks amazing! I just can't wait for the full game. i7-3770K 4.4GHZ and 780 SLI most of the time 60fps. I am not sure what DSR setting I used but it was lower than 4K.

game hates AMD, CPU performance is crap even more so then expected.

I see most people here reporting in with intel CPUs, how demanding is GZ in terms of CPU performance?

I recently upgraded to a GTX 970 and 8GB RAM but I'm afraid my old Phenom II X4 695 BE (OC'd to 3,8 Ghz) will be the bottleneck. Can I realistically expect to run this game maxed out with 60fps @ 1440x900 (or above)?

Game looks stunning however the DoF needs to be toned down, pan the camera around Snake and he already looks like he covered himself on vaseline

Man KojiPro didn't fuck around with the port, it's really well done considering all the terrible ports we've had of late.

4960K @ 4.2
16GB @ 2400
7970 OC to close to 280X speeds.

I dipped a lot, definitely be upgrading the video card in the future. It played smooth most the time after I tweaked the settings but I really wanna see this game maxed out. Wait for Q2/3 next year to upgrade though, seems wasteful to upgrade when I could wait a bit.
