Metal Gear Solid V PC Performance Thread

Man KojiPro didn't fuck around with the port, it's really well done considering all the terrible ports we've had of late.

4960K @ 4.2
16GB @ 2400
7970 OC to close to 280X speeds.

I dipped a lot, definitely be upgrading the video card in the future. It played smooth most the time after I tweaked the settings but I really wanna see this game maxed out. Wait for Q2/3 next year to upgrade though, seems wasteful to upgrade when I could wait a bit.

It shouldn't dip. Wait for the drivers

3570k 4.5 GHz

980 1503 MHz core, 7500 MHz memory

Works absolutely fantastic. Updating to the new beta drivers seems to have disabled DSR; I'll mess with other resolutions later.

Edit: everything max settings

lol! That gif never gets old!

I am pleased with those benchmarks results. 3K 1600p gaming here I come!

Holy cow. Haven't seen daytime screens yet. The lighting is incredible.

Really? Because I think the game looks thoroughly last-gen when shown off in the daytime.

The lighting seems decent, but the low poly environments, poor textures and THOSE TREES just all combine to make it all look thoroughly 'meh'.

Night-time sure is pretty though.

R9 270x + Core i3 4130 3.4 ghz + 4 GB ram

Have everything set to High except for Textures, Texture filtering and Effects which are set to Extra High. Having everything at Extra made the game unplayable. Was getting 20s that way.

Getting mostly early to mid 50s with 60 being there for a solid while. Not bad, I guess?

pls post back

I don't have FRAPS installed, but the 660M seems like it is 60fps or damn near it with everything but shadows on high, and closer to 30fps with some things turned up to extra high. All in all, it runs great and looks as good or better than the PS4 version. Very very impressed and happy with my purchase.

Those textures could really use some work... Running nicely on my 780GTX though. I hope they scrap the PS360 versions. I don't really get the sucky textures, it's my impression that assets are usually created in a very high-quality manner in AAA games.

Locked 60 on max, but I was getting dips into the low 50's when I went to 1440 DSR. Can't complain about a locked 1080p experience, but I do wish there were AA options.

970/2600k@4.4

Just throwing in some low end of the spec performance. AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 Ghz, 4GB RAM, an old ass 5850 and I can run this all on high except texture filtering and shadow on medium (default) at 1080p on a pretty steady 50-60 FPS.

Haven't really tried messing around to see if i can bump stuff up more but I've played for about 2 hours and it's performing great.

Finally got around to playing it.

i5 2500k at 4.2
R9 290 1050/1350
8GB 2133Mhz
1440p

Everything maxed out except Screen Filtering on Low (I might just turn it off, the bloom and DoF is ugly) and SSAO on High.

That keeps me above 55fps at all time

1080p. Everything up full. 3 GTX 980s SLI.

A locked 60. I need to figure out a way to use the overhead. I have a gsync monitor, so the game capping at 60 is kind of annoying, but I can't say I have any complaints.

Not getting fantastic performance with my 770, although I think I may need to turn textures and SSAO down to High as opposed to Very High.

Alright so my specs are:

GTX 580 1.5gb
Core i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz(ROCK SOLID STABLE for 3 years running)
4gb DDR3 1600(Gskill Ripjaws X)

Running at maximum settings just to see how it plays, so far I've had a couple hitches in the first cutscene(when Skullface leaves Chico and his goons are heading through Camp Omega but then it's fine once you get to halfway through their little trip) and one long hitch/freeze before loading into the game. Feels pretty good to be honest, and looks a whole huge leap above the PS4 version

I'm averaging 45 FPS but sometimes it goes up to 55-60, the very odd dip below but it's almost always above 40. I should mention I am playing the game without the recommended driver so I am probably going to update my drivers and see where that takes me, so far no complaints really as I believe I am(stupidly) maxing out my VRAM/RAM at 1080P with everything on the highest details. Which would probably explain the initial hitching but it seems more than fine, it's not like BF4 where it turns into an impossible slideshow.

So far I have no trouble with playing the game it feels pretty smooth, Mouse and keyboard feels perfect and I love that they have a movement modifier key(not quite like Chaos Theory with the mouse button for character Locomotion speed but good enough, works like Thief 2 with the creep button).

Holy fucking shit at the graphics though, this definitely looks like the original GDC/Debut demo they played way back when maybe even a bit better. The Bokeh DOF is amazing, absolutely love it and the game sounds so much better on PC for some reason then again that could be my headphones lol.

I'd say the biggest improvements would be model detail, pop in, and lighting, the lighting is dramatically better.

I might tinker with the settings to achieve the best compromise, but so far I'm happy.

The one thing that is a huge oversight is it seems that I can't navigate the equipment menus/Hold up menus by just flicking the direction using my mouse! This results in me having to use my nose to hit down on my arrow keys to make it work.

I might play with the keybindings a little bit to see if I can remedy the issue.

The FOX engine is really amazing despite being cross-gen.

Downsampling won't work with borderless windows. You would need to set the game to full screen to use it.

I did remember to switch to full screen! When I installed the newest beta drivers, I chose a clean install which reverted all my options to default.

Anyway, this game's performance assures my Phantom Pain purchase on PC. This is some good work from Kojima and his team.

I'm a little jealous at some of y'all with locked 60fps on a 970. With my 970 I get 45-60fps with everything maxed out at 1080p. :( My CPU (fx8320@3.8) is probably bottlenecking my 970 I guess. Looks really nice though.

Overclock your CPU. Pretty much necessary for consistent performance with an AMD CPU.

i5 4670k
8GB RAM
GTX 760 2GB.

Didn't pay much attention to settings since I was in a hurry but I put mostgraphical setting to the right-most and game runs at silky smooth 60 FPS at 1080p.

i5 4670K
GTX 670
8 GB RAM

Running smooth at 60 FPS downsampling for me, which I didn't expect. 2560x1440. I will definitely be buying this on PC.

Why would you keep 1080p, with 3 980s? Downsample from 4K.

Playing @ 1440p
i7 3770
R9 290
8GB of Ram

59-60 with everything maxed except Lighting, Shadows and Screen Filtering which are on High.

Hey guys just to confirm before I buy the game, it support SLI right?

I have 2x GTX 970 SLI and would like to downsample and get adequate performance out of the game.

i7 5820K@4.3GHZ
16GB DDR4@2100MHZ
G1 GTX 970 SLI
Windows 8.1 Pro

Thanks.

Bind your mouse side buttons to the keys.

Problem solved.

I been at work all day, any news on 120 fps?

Not quite. I use my mouse side buttons as forward/back in Windows so binding them to a key means I have to sacrifice that functionality. Luckily it's easy for me to switch profiles but I'd prefer it if I didn't have to.

I really hope they do a better job for TPP.

Excellent optimization on this game. My laptop never dips below 50fps at 720p with all settings on high. At 1080p it's a solid 30fps

i7 2760qm @ 2.4ghz / GTX 560m / 8GB DDR

Edit: This is without the latest beta drivers

Wow, I'm getting around 50fps at 4k with everything on extra high expect SSAO (high) and turned screen filtering off completely.

Anyone with an i3 and a GTX 750 TI? If I can get 60 frames without the game looking like dogshit I will buy today.

Menu was stuttering pretty badly and it initially defaulted the resolution to 1440x900 and mix of med-high settings. Installed the new nVidia drivera, menu became smooth, and decided to try bumping up the reso to 1080p and everything to max settings minus the filtering options at high. Game runs great at a locked 30 for me. Not sure if the drivers made that much of a big difference or something else was going on the first time I booted up the game, but it runs pretty great now.

2500K OC'd
970
8GB RAM

~1.8 GB VRAM Usage
~50% GPU Usage
max settings
Borderless fullscreen
1080p
4x MSAA forced in Inspector
never dropped below 60 FPS

Downloaded the beta drivers, yet I completely forgot to install them.

SPECS:
Core i7-3770K @ 4.4 GHz
16 GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Ram
2 x GTX 670 2GB in SLI

Running the newest Beta Drivers.

Running DSR at 2560x1440 downsampled to 1920x1080 with smoothness set to 16%. I have Vsync on with everything else running at EXTRA HIGH quality and I've gotten a smooth 60fps. There appear to be some minor framerate judders from time to time, but that appears to deal more with VRAM thrashing from Downsampling.

The game looks absolutely phenomenal! I am honestly surprised how much better it looks than the PS4 version purely based off of image quality alone. The massive LoD increase and enhanced effects are just icing on the cake.

I'm SOOOO buying TPP on PC guaranteed!

- Fx-8350 @ 4.2ghz
- 16GB RAM
- GTX 580s SLI

Everything maxed out except for lightning that is set to High. Locked 60fps.

I prefer to have locked 60 than all the bells and whistles. Lightning brought the framerate down to 40/45 when looking at the camp from the starting position. I can't notice much of a difference from max lightning to be honest so I'm fine with that.

The game looks pretty damn fine.

Slight update, I was playing on the previous WHQL Nvidia release and I switched and updated to the new MGSV:GZ drivers and my framerate is nearly 60FPS stable and maxed out at 1080P.

I noticed that if you decrease shadows to High, you definitely save some VRAM and in my case get a near rock solid 60FPS at 1080P, with it fluctuates between 50-60 with lows around 45-48 in super high action.

Controls work great I figured out you can just tap 1,2, or 3 when you use the hold up menu to use the options and it works the same for equipment(tap multiple times to cycle, 1 is the MRS4, 2 is the Tranq, 3 is Thrown items/C4/Explosives, 4 is nightvision). So now I no longer need to lean forward and hit down on the Arrow keys with my nose while I hold Q and aim at the Guards lol. I felt so dumb when I discovered that.
