Metal Gear Solid V PC Performance Thread

3.47 GHz Xeon W3690 (i7-990X equivalent)
GTX 780 3 GB (vanilla model)

Liquid smooth 60 fps @ 1920x1200 on maxed out settings, doesn't skip a beat.
Great port Kojipro!

Is this the most optimized Japanese PC game of all time? Man, it looks great and my aging 670 runs it at locked 60FPS with everything maxed and just the shadows down to 'High.'

4690K @ 4,2 Ghz
7950 3GB
8GB 1600Mhz CL9

The game runs smooth as silk in 1920x1080 with everything set to High, haven't tested Maximum settings yet - is there a big difference between the two?

Running with my 780 3gb at 4k with screen filtering turned off and SSAO at high instead of very high I get a very steady 40-45 fps.

Core i5 3570k @ 4.0 GHz
GTX 770 with 2GB VRAM
12GB of RAM

Had a good time with this yesteday. Video options set to 'high' @ 1080p and the game run without any hitches or slowdowns, very smooth experience on the latest beta drivers. Tried a bit of downsampling from 2560x1440 and didn't had any performance issues. The GeForce Experience application suggests to run the game at 'very high' settings so I'm gonna give it a try today. So far it seems like a very good port, hope The Phantom Pain will be also that well optimized.

msi gtx 970 (slightly oc'd)
i5 3570 non k version (i'm a retard for picking up the non k version)
8gb ram

and I only get 57fps at the start overlooking camp omega. it's 60fps 98% of the time, but man do I notice those drops. also, having fraps + steam overly reduces my fps by 10 frames at the start of the level (while moving the camera around)

so it's safe to say that it's a cpu bottleneck? I've seen other people using stock 970's and not dropping below 59fps.

Is the first viewpoint, when you first gain control of Snake, a good place to gauge performance? I figure so since it shows a large area and has lots of rain and light effects.

So if im getting constant 60 fps running around there, am i good for the rest of the game?

Okay, ran Geoforce Experience, which changed the settings to Extra but instead of borderless windowed mode recommended full screen and now I'm getting perfect 60fps @1080p. Can the 770 support SS? :P

Game was running great, loving the graphics on the cutscene. Then when I got to the gameplay part the camera is rotating around snake very fast and he is walking around in circles and I cant control him. If i press buttons he does things like crouch and aim his gun, and I can go into the menus and use them just fine. But I cant play the game like this! I have tried unpluging and replugging both mouse and keyboard. Restarted game. And restarted PC. Has anyone experienced this??!?!

I got a 7950, I7 950, 6 gigs of ram, and windows 8.1

WIth everything set to the highest setting I get like ~35ish fps. Setting everything to just 'High,' it runs at a buttery smooth 60fps.

On high it still looks really good.

GTX 970
i7 2600k
8GB of RAM

I have to set the lighting to high to get constant 60 at 1080p, which is weird considering what I've read in this thread. I need to try with the new drivers.

Well, there's only one map so yes you're good.

No, that would be Devil May Cry 4. Runs at 120fps locked on a toaster.

This game being capped at 60 is stupid, but the rest seems decently good.

same here(except got an i5), and the new drivers made it better, but it still goes below 60 sometimes, though. just turn off fraps and enjoy the game. I spent my entire first play through watching my frame counter - totally ruined my experience :))

Game's performance is fantastic beyond belief for the amount of visual prowess shown on display.

I'm getting a locked 60 FPS @ 900p (monitors native resolution) experience on my i5-4690k @ 4.2 GHz and stock clocked NVIDIA GTX 760 rig with everything set to Extra High except for Screen Filtering lowered down a notch to High. I'm not even using the newer beta GameReady drivers, still sticking to the WHQL 344.75 drivers.

The game shouldnt look this good and play this well on my modest rig but it does. Well done Kojipro, you've definitely got my money for TPP on the PC whenever the preorders are opened.

Is it wrong not to be impressed with look of this game? I am really glad that game is optimized really well bar beside really good lighting there is not that much graphical impressive things. Geometry is basic and you can see that on complex objects, textures are ok (there are some good ones but most of them are just ok).

Still drops to 51/52 at times with the new drivers. Definitely something wrong somewhere, or maybe everyone in this thread is a filthy liar. :p

GTX 970 smooth as butter at 2560 x 1440. My jaw dropped on the floor during the intro. Made me realize that i can`t go back to console games now.

The intro runs better than the game play. The frame counter stayed pegged at 60 most of the time with everything maxed at 1440p during the intro. Then I actually started playing and it was 55-60fps with some dips to around 52. Had to turn Screen Filtering down to High to get constant 60fps.

exactly the same here with 970.. turning ssao and shadows to high gives 60fps all the time although, very high shadows are possible with some OC

also 1440p downsampled got me spoiled now , i can't stand native 1080p anymore :D

oh yeah, try turning off the steam overlay. When I had fraps and steam overlay on at the same time, it was a lot harder to pull of a constant 60fps.

i5 2.8GHz (Overclocked to 3.5GHz)
8GB DDR3 RAM
GTX 750Ti Black Edition

Getting almost constant 60FPS on highest settings at 1080p!

This port is fucking great and I am definitely getting The Phantom Pain for PC now!

So... task manager tells me my processor is running at around 40% and 1.6Ghz in game. I'm guessing that's not normal?

Hmmm.. so I bought the game, I tried to run the game at 1680x1050, with almost everything on High (shadows on Medium), and in cutscenes I get 30 fps (locked FPS) but when it comes to gameplay, I have average 24 fps.. with everything on LOW i get 27 fps
I have Inter 2 Duo 2,66 GHz overlocked to 4 Ghz, 4 GB Ram and a nvidia 650Ti 1 GB (overclocked).. well, 4 GB Ram is enough for this game, my two CPU are at 98 - 99 %, game takes 985 VRAM, but overall my GPU is at 45 % usage...
Now, if they at Dsogaming could achieve 44 fps at 1080 with dualcore PC, why is mine struggling so much with game? The difference is a better GPU? Even though my GPU is only at 45 % usage?.. I thought that the main problem is going to be the CPU, but if they could get 44 fps with a dualcore machine, then I don't know what to think about it

1080p. Everything up full. 3 GTX 980s SLI.

A locked 60. I need to figure out a way to use the overhead. I have a gsync monitor, so the game capping at 60 is kind of annoying, but I can't say I have any complaints.

DSR.

I'm a little jealous at some of y'all with locked 60fps on a 970. With my 970 I get 45-60fps with everything maxed out at 1080p. :( My CPU (fx8320@3.8) is probably bottlenecking my 970 I guess. Looks really nice though.

Yeah, you should really be getting more performance than that. I get a constant 60 fps with my 770 with everything set to Very High.

2500K OC'd
970
8GB RAM

~1.8 GB VRAM Usage
~50% GPU Usage
max settings
Borderless fullscreen
1080p
4x MSAA forced in Inspector
never dropped below 60 FPS

Downloaded the beta drivers, yet I completely forgot to install them.

4x MSAA forced in Inspector? And you have a 970? Quit with the MSAA and DSR the hell out of this game!

Dual core Haswell is much faster than core 2 duo.

Current specs:
AMD FX 4350 Quad Core 4.20GHz
8GB G-Skill RAM
AMD XFX R7870 Core Edition (2GB?)

Cutscene with everything on very high has very smooth framerate (around anywhere around 60-48-ish), but when the game begins proper it tends to dip to below 30. I usually play at native res of 1366x768, but found myself switching to 720p to be able to keep the framerates at around 30-ish.

Please Konami, release a patch to even out with AMD performance. Heck, maybe even use Mantle.

That's on AMD, not Konami. Don't worry, though. This is an NVIDIA-sponsored game, so AMD didn't have to resources to optimize their drivers for it before release. I'm sure they'll come up with a new driver that addresses these performance issues in a matter of days, if not hours.

Don't use border less full screen which the game defaults to. Use full screen and vsync. It won't lock to 30 otherwise if locking to 30 is what you want
