The 3 screenshots look kinda of bad. Monolith was never that good with graphics.
but I'm still hyped for this.
Well, at least it isn't a shooter.
Yeah, they didn't nail the bright, happy look of Mordor.
It's not like "dark and gritty" can't fit Tolkien's work. Just... Not this kind of gritty.Everything except the basic premise of the story sounds awful. I wish they didn't have to go "dark" and "gritty". Everything about the copy feels tonally wrong for LOTR.
Trying to decide if this is concept art or not - zoomed in some of it looks like the game engine.
Yeah storywise it's just The Force Unleashed.
Character who has something special that makes him more powerful than the movie/book heroes goes and fights the bad guys before the original heroes do, and then loses because he has to for plot reasons, but not before doing something that is super important to the main plot despite the fact that no one has ever mentioned him.
I'm pretty sure the wraiths from the movies and books did a little more than stare blankly into the distance while they were decapitating and slaughtering their enemies.
Then again, what do I care. It just looks silly.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows PC.
While modern Monolith might be quite mediocre, this just isn't right at all. Games like No One Lives Forever and FEAR looked amazing for their time.

Not really. Fear (2005) looked like a generation behind HL 2 (2004 title) graphically and NOLF and Aliens versus Predator 2 looked outdated compared to stuff like Rogue Spear or Soldier Of Fortune.
This is simply untrue. FEAR was heralded as a much more graphically impressive game in 2005 with a ton of effects. Meanwhile, AvP2 and NOLF weren't bad looking at release and was absolutely not subpar compared to RS or SoF.
anyone else like trying to say 'Mordor' the same way Hugo Weaving does?

I patiently await the game that accurately captures the atmosphere of Middle Earth. This, it seems, will not be it.
I have never seen someone look this relaxed and expressionless while he's fucking hacking away at orcs with his sword for dear fucking life.
I don't think a game like that will ever exist, every developer is eager to use the setting to facilitate combat scenarios. I want a LOTR game that focuses on mystery, serenity and the expansiveness of the land, a game that has lots of downtime so when the action does start it's really meaningful. A game like this but obviously with a larger budget.

Same here, but this will do.I would kill for a No One Lives Forever sequel.
I like how the plot sounds absolutely nothing like LotR stuff. Magic super powers might fly in Silmarillion Tolkien game but here it just clashes with the tone of the book.
