I'm gonna start posting in the offseason thread just to be a persistent nuisance

I'm forced to be a bandwagon fan anyway, the best thing we have here is a farm team for the Marlins

I would think the true responsibility lies with Bud Selig for giving us the dumbest rule in all of sports.

I don't know, it's kind of harsh putting the blame solely on Selig for not instituting the DH in both leagues like he should have. It's everyone's fault really.

I know Bochy has said Hudson is starting tomorrow, but honestly I would start Bumgarner, or at the very least pull Hudson for him at the first sign of trouble. Hudson is wildly inconsistent and could very well Kevin Brown this game 7.

When did Kevin Brown start a game 7? Surely there was no series in recent history where Kevin Brown started a game 7 for a team with world series aspirations and proceeded to melt down horribly, cause that would just be silly.

Nope, nothing like that ever happened.

starting Bumgarner is asking way too much of a 25 year old who might be the future of your franchise for the next 10 years, it also sends the message to the rest of your team that you think they are garbage. If you start Bum and he gets shelled, who do you go to then? A guy on 2 days rest should be an emergency 1 or 2 inning max reliever and not much else.

Making an exhibition game "count" by making its result affect HFA for two unrelated teams is far worse than letting second place teams into the playoffs. Especially since there's no evidence that it improves the ASG in any way.

Oh I know, but I think the WildCard is one of few things Selig did right.

I personally am holding out hope for a Mitch Williams-type moment out of the Giants bullpen in game 7. It better be a defensive duel, though. I am getting tired of all these blowouts. The ALDS and ALCS were incredible, this WS... Not too much.

anyone in the overland park area hittin up dollar beer night at brewtop tonight? it'd be fun to meet up beforehand and get sloshed together. (plus there's no stupid cover before like 9 i think)

Anyone giving the Giants a chance tonight? History and home field seem to suggest the Giants now having much of a chance.

My Indians almost pulled off the road upset in 97 and was just two outs away from winning it all :(

maybe it's because i'm a royals fan but i can't see anyone, even giants fans, being very optimistic about tonight. like when the cards and david freese did all that nonsense a few years ago, no one gave the rangers a chance in game 7 except opiate i think. the only advantage the giants have is experience, and i don't think that will overcome the royals timely hitting, speed (which has been mostly a nonfactor), satisfactory pitching (Mormon on the mound tonight, hell yeah), and awesome nicknames.

speaking of which, did a royals fan make the OP? because only the royals have those cool nicknames haha. i guess the giants are boring.

It's good, it's made by Zarda, an old KC BBQ mainstay, and it's pretty close to their original main sauce, which is a little sweet for some people's tastes. It's not gritty like Bryants or peppery like Gates, but to me, Zarda/Billysauce is kind of my go to for putting on non-BBQ items, like say, just a ham sandwich or something. I actually like mixing it with some mayo for a little KC style fry sauce or on a Reuben.

I agree Game 6 was their chance and they really screwed that up. Their only chance is their starter keeping things close, then having all their others starters available in their pen.

I remember screaming at the TV for the Indians to put in Charlie Nagy to close out the Marlins in the 9th instead of Jose Mesa, and we all know what happened.

One of my coworkers is convinced that several games in the series have been "thrown" just so both teams can make more money. Apparently I am the foolish one for being so innocent to believe both teams want to win more than they want money from extra games. "It's all about the corporations, man."

Tell your coworker he's a fucking idiot.

I'm putting the Giants at 50/50 tonight. I don't think last night will have much relevance to what we see tonight, other than a few throw away bullpen guys not being available. Both teams are putting a less that stellar dude on the mound. The Royals might be a bit hotter in terms of bats, but that hasn't exactly carried over this series.

The home crowd will help, but this could go either way.

Only people that I won't welcome in the offseason thread are ketchup lovers. They can all kick rocks!

At the risk of clearly missing an obvious reference, I'd just like to state that mustard is the superior condiment

My prediction is that if the Royals have 2 runs before the 5th, Bum will be called in early.

People. Its easy:

Brat: Mustard
Hot Dog: Ketchup
Hamburger: BBQ sauce

Edit: BBQ sauce is for low quality steaks, pulled pork, or a bacon burger with onion and blue cheese cooked into the patty. A regular burger should have a mayo to mustard ratio of 1:3 and should never have ketchup

Bret Saberhagen is throwing out the first pitch.

I was confident before last night, and I am confident about tonight. But I learned long ago not to count your chickens until they hatch.

Either way, it's Game 7. To even be in this position is surreal.

what scares me is that it is the royals. i'm so used to kansas city teams disappointing me that I'm afraid it will happen tonight. it may be a different royals team than we have seen in a long while, but it's still the royals.

Of course :lol

The last few games have been blowouts, it's really a toss up who win will tonight. And the Giants closed out their last two titles on the road, so while they'd obviously rather be in SF, they're more than capable of winning tonight.

Honestly, a one game winner take all in baseball is a crapshoot anyway. You hope for the best, but it's certainly no failure if they can't pull it off.

That being said, while I don't think you blame the players for a loss here, we could certainly still get Yosted.

Sure, cause anyone is capable of winning a single game of baseball. You could trot the Diamondbacks out there tonight, and they could pull off a win against either of these teams. That's just how baseball is. Some days the balls fall in your favor, other days they do not.

And let's be fair when pointing out that the Giants won their last two titles on the road. They dropped one whole game between those two series. Those were cakewalks. This is a high pressure, winner-takes-all Game 7 we're talking about here, and the Giants have to do it on the road. Can they win? Of course. Would they like their chances a little better if they were at home? Absolutely.
