Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Official Thread: 100% Sauce Free!

Also how did the bug with naruto's special get through? Seriously.

1. Finish off an enemy with your super
2. Wait for victory screen.
3. Hold your ears in pain.

the town parts looked sad...

really just thinking about buying it for the pretty and the reason i play all the other ultimate/ancel games; spiffy ultimate boom boom attacks!

I think the town itself looks really beautiful, so close to the anime. They just have to figure out what else can be done in it.

The real bummer IMO is that I thought they would really go through the episode 1 to 135, heck even the meeting with the demon Fox could have playable. But you don't even get to fight the sound ninjas, you only fight through what Naruto went through, but even then some stuff is missing; no Zabuza, no Haku, probably no carnival city or whatever it was called in the anime (that city is present in Broken Bond on 360, with some mini games in it), no fight against the big Snake in the Death Forest or against the illusion-ninjas decked in yellow I forget the name of. I thought they were really going to do it all, but I guess they ran out of time. Would have been cool.

I thought my ps3 was gonna die when I heard that

I never expected all that since I played previous Naruto games from this dev, or I could even make that more broad and say I never expected that because I played an Anime fighting game before. It's actually exceeding my expectaions if only for giving you things to do in the overworld.

i kinda liked exploring the town in the 360 Ubisoft game so i hope this version does something with the world.

i think i might try to return this game. it's going to take a lot of time to unlock all these characters and moves, and i think i'm already bored of the fighting system. unblockable attacks and wake-up supers are too easy to exploit and matches devolve into such maneuvers over and over, just like in the demo after me and a friend pretty much mastered the game. i was hoping the other characters would bring some variety to the game... but they really don't.

it's a beautiful game with a potentially great fighting system, but it needs more than one character. this is like a street fighter game if every character was a shoto.

are the wii games any good? i liked GNT3/GNT4. the fact that i couldn't import them threw me out of the loop, but i may want to give them another try. are there japanese voices in Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 2?

So is my preorder first hokage code worthless now? I got it on the 5th and the code is invalid. It doesnt help that the C's and G's look exactly alike.

Jap voices arent in CoNR2 but the game is different then the GNT3 or 4 games and actually unique in terms of characters and some stages I believe.

Wow, just played a bunch more.

loving it.

1st character i unlocked was
Jiraya

the gamabunta fight is as badass as it looks in the trailer :D

how so? i know they added environmental obstacles -- anything else? is there a disadvantage to using GC/classic controller? i saw some wii gestures.

Are you guys experiencing the Naruto special bug playing the US version of the game? I should have mine in an hour so I'll soon know if the bug is present in the PAL version as well.

-35 characters, the most in any Naruto game.

-Wii remote makes hand signs to build chakra etc, and other powers.

-Hit enemies from environment to environment with Wii remote input which can work to advantage in many ways depending on what you want to do.

-An orignal story about the Anbu Squad with characters never before seen in a Naruto fighting game, and are all playable.

-Team Jutsus.

-Trap items.

-Addictive combo based gameplay, which gets crazier in four player brawls.

Its a pretty impressive package to boot. Only thing needed for next year is a graphical upgrade, more moves, and online play, and some more charas of course which will most likely be in it.

Is the story mode any good? the progression and so on? :)
i'd say it's pretty bad. story missions are distinctly separate from eachother. after each mission, it forces you back to kanoha (with the long load time). after each mission, it also spawns these scrolls somewhere in kanoha... which you gotta collect because they are hte currency for support moves etc.

you need "mission XP" to continue with story missions, and you get mission XP from doing stupid side missions. a lot of the non-story missions are things like "play for x hours" or "walk x amount of steps" or "break x amount of things" -- these should be trophies and there's no real excuse for it. some of the S rank missions are just as silly -- "try all the ramen" etc. S-rank mission - hardest mission for the most elite ninja -- try a variety of ramen.

my only other experience with naruto games lie with GNT3 and GNT4 for gamecube. they are much better games in my opinion.

Yes, and I found it doesn't always happen and sometimes happens with other characters' specials.

Anyways, plunked down 6 hours into the game. Just got done with the Tsunade arc, which only leaves one character locked (Kimimaru I'm guessing).

Also, screw them for these Free DLCs they've announced that they'll be releasing over the next few months. They're already in the game (computer uses them).

So it's basically, similar to the story missions in the naruto games on ps2...which fucking BLOW.

either way, the ps2 naruto games were only fun because of the actualy fighting engine...not the single player..

the ps3 games sounds like they are going to follow...tho i was hoping they would actually make the story mode good this time

hmmm, so it's not like the 360 ones where it's more GTA-like? at least Ubisoft tried to follow the story from the anime and even included cutscenes from the anime.

that special bug people keep mentioning sounds scary...

what exactly happens?

awful music?

So, I bought this game and I enjoy it, but mostly because it looks so pretty. It's extremely shallow in every department BUT visuals. I think the real meat for the Naruto fan this fall is coming in the form of the Broken Bond. Did anyone try out that demo? It's not a giant leap from Path of a Ninja, but the improvements were more than enough to get me excited. Disclaimer: Path is one of my favorite 360 games.

i really enjoyed the 360 one too so i'll get the sequel when it's on sale cuz there's too many games i need to catch up on this year.

glad to hear you're enjoying the PS3 one. how's the audio? all the music and voices are from the anime as well right?

I found the actual fighting engine to be crap in ROTN. I prefer the UNS engine now. It is shallow but RoTN was just not fun as fighting game IMO.

I am looking for a fighting game more than an adventure game.

I just watched the Gametrailers review and was disappointed to discover just what this game is really all about. :\ It feels as if the effort put into the visuals was wasted on a ho-hum game.

Seriously, this is the single most impressive example of cell shading I've seen to date. The animation, motion blur, and appearance is mind blowing. I would absolutely LOVE to see visuals of this quality used in an RPG or some other genre. Can you imagine if something like Tales of Vesperia had featured visuals on par with this?! Would have made a huge difference.

I really hope the visual techniques created here don't go unnoticed by other developers. This is the first time I've seen a game that looks good enough to work as an actual television show.

Haven't had any issues with the audio, but I've only put an hour or so in thus far. Voices on both the English and Japanese side were all authentic, at least as far as I've heard. Music seems to be a mix of anime content and original content done in the style of the anime thus far.

I'm just the opposite; the adventure elements are far more interesting to me. The fighting engine is improved in Broken Bond, try the demo! It's a more complex, technical, and traditional system than the one in Ninja Storm, but that makes it far more clunky. Ninja Storm is all about being very simple, casual, and building a great flow.

cool, thanks for the info.

Ok so I picked up my copy at gamestop today and asked about the preorder bonus code and the guy looked around and said it would probably be in the game box. Is this guy for real or full of shit ca_se that wouldn't make any sense if only gamestop and gamesutra or whatever was doing the preorder bonus

Serious? wow. I doubt it will be in the box or they will email it, it must be something handed out with the game.

Fixed2BeBroken said:
Well, its def. Not. In the box...has anyone gotton the preorder bonus? Is the guy at this gamestop just an idiot?

He's an idiot, but it doesn't matter as of now. Nobody that I've spoken to has had their code work. :(

Just a FYI.. GNT 4 had Team Jutsu's and more then 35 characters..

That combo based gameplay has been in all games.. (Just stating this because you seem to be quoting the guy who is asking what is completely different in this game from any other GNT/CoN game)

So what's the verdict for someone who absolutely can't give a damn about multiplayer?

I somewhat enjoyed Naruto 360, was hoping the single-player in this would be roughly as enjoyable. (The 360 game is excessively fetch-questy, so I'm prepared for that part.)

ugh, can i d/l from EU PSN and use it for the US version of the game? if so i'll be returning the game to GS so i can use my gift card and get it elsewhere.

Sorry, I forgot to add that it was free.

It's called "Naruto Storm Pack 1" in the shop but when you go to download it the file is actually called "Pack 3", so it seems Europe isn't getting the US pre-order bonus. (They were Pack 1 and Pack 2, right?).
