Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit |OT| Do you have the Need for Speed?

Just started playing this yesterday. Its been a while for me and racing games. I dabbled in Burnout Paradise, but I think I like the structure of this game better. Now I have a game to justify that xbox controller I bought!

No kidding.

Driving wasn't designed for a keyboard.

Just started playing: Sysgen Love to compare times.

On another note the time it takes for the game to start or return from a CTL Alt Del (staring at a black screen) is ludicrous. Or is it just me?

Does anybody still play this online? I just tired to join a Hot Pursuit online in the top 3 car classes and kept being put into an event by myself...

The Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Autolog App has just been updated and has:

• Multitasking!
• Pull to refresh thing!
• Wall filter

And last but not least:

• Beat You push notifications!

Basically if you say yes to the ‘accept push notifications’ prompt on start up, the App will update you with the number of people who have beaten you at a set time every day.

Get it from here:

This game is dead online on the 360.

its hard to find matches.

I think the plans where messed up for DLC after EA decided to release Shift 2. I am sure that Criterion had bigger plans for DLC than the mess they released so far.

All Need for Speed games die fast in online mutliplayer in all three platforms. Shift 1 and Shift 2 are a ghost town online on PC.

Holy shit the text in this game is tiny.

Also, coming straight from Burnout Paradise required some... adjustment.
Yeah, the cars have a lot more weight to them. I hated it at first, but once you get a hold of some faster cars and get a hang of the handling, it's heavenly.

Best Buy is offering $30 for as a trade in value for the PS3 version of Hot Pursuit. I'm wondering how much better this game is on PC than the PS3 performance wise. Is it worth it to sell the PS3 version at this high value and get the PC version from a $10 Steam sale or such?

I really love the game.

Does anyone know if the version on PSN has the cars from the limited edition? I have it on disc, but would like a digital copy, but I don't want to lose the limited edition cars. If the PSN version is vanilla, can I get the LE cars as DLC?

Any Steam players having issues forcing AA on Nvidia cards after the latest patch (came out a few weeks ago)? Seems like it's back to not working again.

Finally got the game, don't know how I feel about it yet. The handle doesn't quite feel right to me, but I was expecting a little more Burnout feel to it. Graphics are gorgeous! How long does the single player take?

Single player MUST take forever as I've put seven hours in and am just at level 4 (of 20) for both cops and robbers.

Really really love the game. Handling is very different from Burnout, sure, but still fun. Having a damn hard time getting gold on some of these, especially the cop ones where you have to not bump into walls (woops!) and respond to the call ASAP. Some of these must get easier with faster cars, right?

Any more PSN people? I want more more more!

Just bought this on PC thanks to Steam sale. How the fuck do I change the settings? Even at 1080p with the high resolution textures selected the game just looks awful. Tons of aliasing and the environments look PS2 quality.

Strange. I haven't played the game myself, but I've seen pics posted on GAF (maybe the PC Screenshot thread) and they looked really amazing. In fact, some of the better graphics I've seen.

Look at those awful backgrounds with 2d trees and bushes. I AM DISAPPOINT.

What is max settings? I can't even tell whether I'm running it at max or not because there are barely any options.

dont call this game ugly ever. the pc version was done at the last minute and is lacking a lot of things. all you can do is enable aa via your card's control panel

download nvidia inspector and copy my settings down for antialiasing bits, you can use more than 1x2 supersampling if you want, i stick with that because my resolution is already too high

How do you guys make screens? The ingame function gives me horrible compression and using fraps isn't a good option either with the HUD on the screen :(

Just a quick question. I got this game today and I want to make it look as good as possible to take HD screens on the game. Using the settings posted by iNvidious01 in nvidia inspector, the game looks good but still looks like I am having issue with anti-aliasing. Maybe I am not using Inspector correctly. First, I downloaded Inspector and opened it, I click the edit button in the main window next to driver version, find my game at the top in the list, select it, select my settings, then click apply setting in the top right.

Is this all I need to do to use inspector?
Do I need to keep the program running while I play?
Do I need to go through this process each time I want to play this game?
Do I need to select a different profile if I want to play a different game besides NFS, or does it save every setting for each different game and apply them automatically?

I also got the No HUD mod and updated Headlights mod. Camera hack too.

Any other mods to make this game look better or such?

Thanks!

just make sure you have the right .exe file selected at the top in nvidia inspector, along that green stripe. should be nfs11.exe like mine.

if your seeing aliasing, make sure the anti-aliasing settings are set like mine, everything from the compatability bits to the supersampling d3d. that should eliminate everything pretty much

once you set the options in inspector thats it, you can close it down and it will save them for good.
yes you do need to set different options for each game you play, its just one profile per game though.

the only mods i used for this were no-hud, dont think there is anything else available

Thanks iNvidious, I was doing something wrong not sure what but I set my AA to 2x2 [2x2 Supersampling (D3D only)] and my FPS dropped to like 45 and the gameplay was smooth but not "fluid" or something, hard to explain but it was not playable that way. So I figured to go with your exact setting of 1x2 and no aliasing and smooth as can be 60fps. Thanks a ton for the advice about Inspector. I have been using it for awhile but was never sure I was doing it right. One last question though, maybe you answered it and I didn't understand. If I set a profile for say Starcraft II, then set a profile for NFS. After I play NFS do I have to go back and select the profile and set it up again for SCII or will it auto save all of that forever with no adjustments needed until I set up a new game?

As for Hot Pursuit, I downloaded a camera hack mod but I don't think it works with the current patch.. the game crashes every time as soon as the gameplay loads.

I'm trying to take pictures of my car in the photo mode with no HUD.. but I don't see a way to remove it. I have the mod for no HUD used with TexMod and I don't have HUD while actually playing. Am I missing a way to turn off the HUD in the photo mode? I just want to be able to adjust the camera and take screen shots with FRAPS and no HUD.

i never took them in photo mode, dont think the no-hud mode even works in it so probably leave that. i just drove around with hud off and took shots using fraps or msi afterburner's screenshot utility.

you dont need to go back to inspector if you want to play something else, once you save your profile and close the program you can play whatever you like

the only aa i know of that works with hot pursuit is supersampling, but its very demanding hence your fps hit. if you cant play at the lowest 1x2 or 1x1 ssaa, then i think you'll have to do without

Thanks again for that info. If anyone knows how to take pictures in photo mode with no HUD let me know. Also figured I would post some screen shots to see how they compare and since I never see anyone post screens of night time:

I bought this game during the Steam sale and I've been having a blast with it so far. But there's one thing that annoys me, the music volume. It's impossible to hear the music clearly even if I turn down the sound effects to 30-40%. Is there a way to fix this?

So I just started playing this game and so far I'd say it's a great game with one major flaw. But before I get to that, let me tell you how beautiful this game is on PC. The shaders used on the roads and the cars are especially exceptional. Here's a quick video. I also like the NFS trademark handling and this one is no exception. It feels good driving a car in this game.

My main complaint is how boring the campaign is. All you do are completing events on the map. You gain no money and you can't upgrade or buy cars. You simply unlock them by completing events. As you progress, your wanted level raises allowing you to participate into more difficult events. It's quite boring. There's also next to no sense of progression. You don't feel like being a part of a team and you don't develop any rivalry against any opponent. To me, the single player feels extremely empty. That's said, I still haven't created an autolog account so this might explains it.
