Wall of text warning:
This post was a long time coming. This is for any jackass still pulling the whole "woke lost its definition" or really for anyone who wants to have receipts. This list is non-exhaustive btw.
Woke: performative and insincere elements of left leaning political ideas and identity politics. Common elements present in woke media include:
- questionable levels of diversity where their inclusion defies historical context or geography (Assassin's Creed: Shadows with Yosuke or Musa from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2).
Here is Daniel Vavra's post about someone asked about the lack of racial diversity in Kingdom Come Deliverance 1: "There were no black people in medieval Bohemia. Period."
Did a 180 in the sequel with Musa with Musa lecturing the player character on how Musa's country treats women better.

- LGBTQ+ characters making up large percentages of character sexuality, especially outside of 'playersexual' control.
Examples include the fact that Aloy from the Horizon series was intially written to be uninterested in romance. In the first game, she displayed no interest whatsoever in pursuing romantic or sexual relations with anyone regardless of gender. Of course in the sequel DLC, Guerilla Games changed that to have her potentially fall in love with a random woman she knew for about the span of maybe a literal week.
Another example would be The Last of Us 2 with there being several LGBTQ characters like Ellie, Dina, Cat, and Lev. Furthermore, the game goes out of its way to include dialog like "bigot sandwich" unironically to make a character seem like a cheap caricature of people who don't like seeing these elements in game.
The Borderlands past the original is also guilty of these with more and more characters being portrayed as being gay/bisexual instead of just straight unlike in the first game where only Mad Moxxi was portrayed as anything but straight.
Examples include Axton from 2 being gay, Athena being turned gay in the Pre-Sequel, Fl4k being non-binary even though its a robot in 3, Maya being asexual from 2, Mr Torque being bisexual, Paladin Mike from Tiny Tina's Wonderlands being trans, Zane from 3 being pansexual, and many other NPCs being some strange sexuality except for straight.
- ugly female characters to "defeat the male gaze"
Here is Anita Sarkeesian openly saying that men enjoying looking at curvy women is "problematic". This by far started the trend of making female characters more masculine (flat bodies, overly muscular, square jawed, strange haircuts/bald, etc)
Honestly, this point alone is so well documented about how hidieous most """female""" Western characters look in the 2020's compared to how they did before that it could be an entire post on its own with examples so I'll just leave it at that. Suffice to say that this is real and the gaslighting that it isn't doesn't work anymore. We've had examples of people posting literal side by sides of characters being made more masculine and less feminine (Gothic 1 females) and fuckers still want to play stupid and act like there isn't a difference.
- deconstructing "toxic masculinity"
In an attempt to blame video games for everything from Presidential elections (funny how it's only a problem when its someone they don't like) to real life violence against women, the media and in turn, Western game devs have done everything to sanitize masculinity and what men like:
Those of us who spend our lives gaming can no longer deny knowledge that our online communities are awash with disturbing hate speech and violent rhetoric

Breaking down “toxic masculinity” is complicated, especially amid fears of a masculinity crisis. Just look at one video game’s attempt

- GRL PWR genderswapping aka male to female, almost never female to male
We've been seeing a lot of genderswapping in games since Gamergate 1 of males to females, or the female version of characters being considered "more important" or canon than the males. Examples of the female being 'canon' even though the male is the more played as gender:
Kassandra from Assassin's Creed: Odyssey
Eivro from Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
The female character from Cyberpunk 2077 being more heavily promoted where she's was chosen to represent the series for Fortnite, but not the male
Here are examples of prominient franchises with male characters being the leads being suspiciously gender swapped when fans didn't ask for it:
Ratchet and Clank
Uncharted 4 changing Nate's son to a daughter (Druckmann literally admitted that Nate was supposed to have a son but changed it due to feminism)
The Last of Us
Ghost of Tsushima
Gears of War
InFamous
Rumors are that even God of War will pull this crap with the next game, but unconfirmed for now
Ironically, when devs do female to male, they always revert straight back to female like with Life is Strange and Horizon.
At this point, any AAA Western game is to be treated with suspicion and assumed that it's going to include some elements listed here with varying degrees of severity and stupidity. Woke exists, developers even admit that they change character designs, fire people because of not agreeing with their decisions that aligns with woke mentality, and justifies their whiny behavior when people push back on it under the guise of progressive automatically means they're better than their customers.
TLDR: woke exists, devs and publishers literally list DEI as company directives and anyone saying otherwise is playing stupid. We've had 13 years of this shit and we're sick of it.
