Yeah, it's kind of weird they never make the movies with sequel hooks or intended to be trilogies. Always self-contained.

I think that's a Hollywood thing, Japan seems to avoid that.

I can't stand the new artists and animators they've been using.
That Bardock special looked especially generic and boring.

Early DBZ had a lot of charm and care put into it.

Agree 100%, also that gif is from my favorite episode from the series, just goku being pure badass all the time

That's just great animation. Later DBZ has it too. There's just a lot of god awful, shitty animation as well.

I'm also not a huge fan of the new, digital animation style being used for DBZ, but unfortunately it looks like it's here to stay. I wish they would all just look like Movie 9 or 12 :(

Good animation is less common by the Android and Cell sagas.
With half the episodes looking and animating like shit.


Left looks awesome. Right looks horrific.

Well, that's dragon ball. Each episode alternated from very good to very bad. Take the Cell Junior episodes for example, characters have lots of shadows on them, complex facial expressions... the drawing is perfect.

Next episode, BAM. It feels like was drawn by a 12 years old kid. And it alternates at every new episode. I think it was just a way to save costs, and there were two different teams taking care of that. Maybe someone knows the subject better than me.

That's what I always hated about Dragon Ball, excellency constantly flirted with mediocrity.

Oh man, that looks like what I'd imagine Dragonball in HD would look like.

I don't know what they're doing with the actual HD stuff they've done but it all looks horrible. Doesn't look anything like Z.

The Blu-ray levels look awesome, the Kais look like shit.

Meh.. Gohan has constantly been the best part of DBZ for me. I would have loved for him to become the main character after the cell saga, but oh well. I wouldn't have felt attached to the show without him as I didn't really care for majority of the other characters.

True, it's catchy, the quality is better in this video, but I mean I'm biased as the first version I listened to was by Field of View, and then Zard's.

In the world of music, the first version of a song you hear, is the one you're going to prefer.

This man singing, he's good, but I'm not falling under his charm.

Edit: I'm looping it right now, so it grows on me, like some sort of fungus on a tree bark.
 
Japanese version is superior. The backing instruments in Funimation's version aren't as strong. It's really noticeable with the opening guitar rift. I won't harp on them too much though, since it's much better than Step Into The Grand Tour, and the lower production values can be blamed on the fact it was for a DVD re-release.

This was the highlight of the dub on YTV, the lyrics were simply awesome.
So cheesy, it's good. If you wanted a reason to be ridiculed for liking anime at school, just play this on your walkman. I used to listen to this during the 30 minute cardio in gym class.

I wonder if Guile's theme would work lol.

True it was a stupid power up that he hardly worked for. Goku and Vegeta trained for 7 years like madmen and Gohan just sits still for a whole day and surpass their power. It doesn't have the cons of super saiyan as well since it's totally energy efficient.

Yeah the fact that it shoots him past god damn Super Saiyan 3 is pretty silly. Hopefully they can find some way to write "Mystic" out of the story.

Or Toriyama forgot. Whatever.

Well it's like he's has infinite energy. The Kamehameha against Cell he kept going pass his limits. No wonder Goku just tells him to get angry. Gohan is hax.
 
But even when he went to SSJ2, wasn't it always hinted that he had some hidden power? I think that was it.

Mystic on the other hand, well I dunno about that. I still liked his character though...
 
I have to wonder if Toriyama really 'forgot' about things or if he was just trolling the shit out of people. Maybe he just didn't care and wrote the plot in 5 seconds.
