Should be around here, I take it?

Analyzing the first pic, that should be one of the first things of the game (after clouds jump of the train and before Barret joins the party) probably tutorial part

Waiting for details on this one. I'd like to think it can be great but they could screw on so may ways I'd keep a defensive stance until we have actual real details.
Not sure what I think about taking cover. And when comparing with the old games it feels too bland. Though that's just 1 shot. The boss part looks nice.

Worked in FFXV.
I wonder if anything didn't work for you in a Square Enix game.

not excited after what happened with FFXV

never played FF7 though, is it open world with recycled side missions like FFXV ?

Did we know this was an ARPG?

Ew ;(

I mean, perhaps it's good but, why remake FF7 in this case...

We already have the first game and a new take would be more interesting?

I prefer turn based overall, but I'm also up for something new.

Also XV isn't pure action, it's like some weird hybrid. I'm very interested how they'll design/refine this idea.

It could be something really special. I don't want to close my mind to that idea.

She dies just the same.
So, someone dying automatically makes you equally as well developed of a character?

Gee, I had no clue.

edit: oh, you meant the stabbing part.

Absolutely not. It's world map classic RPG with a story that akes you go from point A to Z but with a few interesting side locations to go to meanwhile. Both games are going to be extremely different I think. And even maybe with the same story, the scenes direction, te fact that it's episodic and so on might really change it a lot.

Re- imagined more than remake I'd say, but it's still early to say.

I wonder why square denied him showing a video? Would have been pretty cool to see after all this time. At least its something though.
The PR department controls showings of games very tightly. They come up with a marketing schedule and outside of some shit like showing two screenshots like this at random events, they won't deviate much from that.

This game is probably still so far from release that it's still so unpolished that it's not necessarily wise to show it because Internet is generally so negative that they rip everything apart that isn't perfect no matter what the context (see: FFXV and its somewhat lacking showings). Triply so for something as beloved as FFVII, they can't just show anything at an unfinished state because they'd catch a lot of flack out of that from fans if it doesn't look good enough. They can't show this too much before it's in more finished state.

The year old PSX trailer was fine because they needed to show that the project is going somewhere and they have some kind of playable shit done that isn't just prototypes of grey blobs swinging rudimentary weapons around or something. That this isn't another FFVsXIII where we got first gameplay 4,5 years after announcement.

Very obviously still using coding/tools from Final Fantasy XV. Which is a good thing.

I remember the first trailer had Cloud using Noctis' shimmy and crawl animations as well.

They probably don't want to show a new video for the game at a small event like this. Something like E3, TGS or Jump Festa would be better for this.

SE seem to be bungling the presentation of this game to the public as well. They show a farely revealing trailer over a year ago and then nothing.

graphics don't look amazing as the first trailer but need to see it in motion.

I am not sure how you can tell...

i hope it makes up for FFXV

FFXV had awesome gameplay and i hope FF7R has the same or better

Yes, FFXV, that universally adored game that proved all the doubters wrong (not saying it's a bad game, just one that lived up to lukewarm expectations).

I love this narrative you're pushing that Square Enix is suffering some kind of unfair persecution by their audience. I'll believe that Square Enix can produce an amazing, modern, AAA game in a timely manner when Square Enix produces an amazing, modern, AAA game in a timely manner. Until that time I will maintain a sizable level of skepticism.

Sucks we only get a few screenshots. Damn you SE PR!!!!!!!

Anyways, I think they look pretty good. I look forward to the next revealing and I really hope they show a video next time...

The reactions to XV's showings around here were beyond overblown. He kind of has a point.

Although not really, because NeoGAF was by far the most hyperbolic when it came to XV. Most people just kind of went "oh, that's neat" and kept it moving.

People here though...jesus.

Well, not universally, but liked by the majority and adored by enough to hit the GOTY list here. I think "lived up to lukewarm expectations" is in denial of the facts a little.

The timely part I'll agree with, I doubt they'll hit that, but the rest I'm confident in after XV.
