New Sony Santa Monica logo unveiled

It feels way less stylish than the old one.

That's because it is way less stylish than the old one. Oh well. =\

ND logo is indeed in need of a redesign, but at least it's better than their old one:

God I love this logo. Can you imagine a 1080p resized version of this staring you in the face when you started up The Last of Us: Remastered?

don't hurt me GAF, I'm just fuckin' around waiting for a render

i'd do something like this. paw splat shamelessly ripped off from google

toned down the red as the bloody pawprint was sorta vicious

That's not bad, a bit messy and could probably be cleaned up a bit, but not bad at all.

Why the fuck would a company like Naughty Dog have a blood-splattered and grungy logo? The fuck?

Ugh. That's going the wrong way, in the direction of the old SSM logo.

Of course everyone crying how the old one looks better.

This is an actual logo now that in a few years you'll know its Santa Monica without the text, it's also versatile because they can change the colour scheme. I like it.

Language notwithstanding, but I agree. An imbalanced composition, disproportionate logo and logotype, uninspired typeface, minute graphic elements that don't scale down well, and all together you've got a logo that isn't nearly half as effective as what you're attempting to replace.

In regards to the Sony Santa Monica logo though, I did enjoy the huge graphic flourishes in their own way because they added character to the identity.

This is one of those situations where they decided to drop everything about what was done before in favour of covering new ground. I'd personally have attempted to keep at least a little bit more of the old identity in the new logo. That said most likely this logo was designed in order to be far more variable and will come to represent their development trajectory in the future.

lol. I think your monocle has a smudge on it
The concept of the the muddy paw prints is fine, but the mockup is obviously held back by your choice of stock imagery. But then I have to ask why bother with the circle or the negative type on black square or the typeface that you've chosen that looks more appropriate for a body of text? All you've done is make it far more complicated a logo than it has to be.

What does the amorphous blob at the top represent in any capacity? There's no cohesion or unity between the font, studio name and shape of the design.

Bungie got it right with the logo, a shooting star that is a subtle nod to their love of the sci-fi genre.

Not bad but the old one was super edgy and dark. Maybe this is pretty much a new logo to show off their diversity. Looking at the color scheme gives me that vibe. Also while pay homage to GOW at the same time. Not bad.

And what this crap about the old logo being too messy. God of War is a messy game they go so well together.

Exactly. The logo was a god of war logo, and didn't look right anywhere else. Look at the boot up of sound shapes for an example of that.

This one fixes that :)

Far better than the old one. The old one looked like albumart of a semi-professional cross-over garageband.

The old one was hideous. The new one is just boring. So an improvement.
