Yes, it's just so great that they're continuing to pander to horny heterosexual male proclivities while turning off anyone with a sense of class (not to mention verisimilitude).
It's clearly deliberate foreshadowing - along with the creepy smile and thousand-yard stare, she's even hiding something behind her back. Her being one of the final antagonists, outmaneuvering Ardyn and Ravus to take control of the Niflheim empire, would also provide an additional explanation for Gladiolus' anger - along with Noctis' obliviousness, he can't comprehend that his sister felt so little for him that she'd willingly cast all of Lucis aside and sanction countless senseless deaths for her own ambitions.

Surprised that SE kept going with her design although they knew that some fans weren't happy with it. Unlike other developers who would have modified the outfit which would have resulted in a (self)censoring (or whatever you call it) debate.

Cindy's design is pretty bad, the clothes are one thing but the worst part is that she looks like a porn star (right down to the fake boobs) rather than some normal local girl that helps her dad fix cars. I'm not saying such a situation is impossible but it's clear that they went down a checklist when designing her.

I completely agree, but just a few things (Just because specifics bug me);
1. I agree that the anti-grav boobs are super dumb, but I really don't get why people bring up "looking like a pornstar"(note: this is for anything, not just Cindy). Seriously, pornstars have so many different body types and shapes that the phrase "looking like a pornstar" means basically nothing. But I get it, you meant the whole fake-and-perky boobs thin-young-woman archetype.
2. IIRC Cindy actually does everything in the shop, not just helping. According to Cid, he legit has nothing to do "since Cindy took over the garage" so he just casually upgrades your gear to kill time. Also, its implied by NPC comments that
Cindy's dad is dead and that Cid was considering closing the Garage before Cindy took over
Seriously, though, my only problem with Cindy is the costume. Otherwise she's a generous, if slightly greenhorn and naive working woman. Too bad she's not dressed for the job :/
most of the main and supporting characters have one now i think. the only ones who don't are the dude in the metal gear and the dude who hits luna. might be wrong tho.

Oh please, "proclivities" and "verisimilitude" are common enough, and they were used correctly in that post. Anyone who reads more than a few books a year shouldn't raise an eyebrow at that sentence.

Gotta agree that Cindy's design is ridiculous, and not in the hilarious way that most modern Final Fantasy characters are. It's obvious pandering, like I get if people think her design is attractive, that's the point, but don't deny you are being pandered to. The only reason she looks like that is to be eye-candy for the presumed straight male player. Otherwise why would she be dressed like that?

Yup. I get it but kinda I like it.
Helps that her character was instantly likable in the footage of the beginning of the game.
Iris' design is good too.
She's looked even better in the game screens.

Sure, and yeah that's what I mean. I realize there's no specific look to a pornstar (obviously) it's just the whole package.
I'm not criticizing her personality or how capable she is, though.

Oh no, i totally get that. I was just pointing out those last things just so that people get my impression of her since that may have been skewed from earlier in the thread

FFXV character design is a bit disappointing to me, everyone is either over the top extravagant or really plain and boring. No happy medium.

Maybe you should read a little more? Those are definitely common words, especially proclivities. I see verisimilitude written far more often than I hear it spoken, but proclivities is fairly common to hear in normal conversation.

No, now it's impossible to believe she's a real mechanic. Obviously Cindy's original outfit was designed to say some very important things about her character. Namely that she takes her work so seriously that she can't be bothered to conform to conventional notions of modesty. She is an early riser who is loath to waste time dressing herself in elaborate outfits that fully cover her body. Cindy starts working at the crack of dawn!

She looks like a goth-pop school girl with anime hair. She's cute as a button[?] and she looks realistic enough (er, or like a heavily photoshopped model) but real hair just doesn't look like that and it's sort of throwing me off her look. I kinda think the hair is some part of why the designs might be throwing people off the looks of the realism in the game — as imaginative as they are, these cuts are basically impossible to achieve.
Not to picking on Cidney, but it drives me nuts how little she or any girl is wearing and then just about any guy is dressed IN LAYERED FULL BODY TRENCH CAPE, ARM ARMOUR, STEEL BOOT, FANCY COLLAR AND BLADE.
I actually think that's the more annoying aspect of the "sexy clothes" aspect is that women are showing off, and male characters usually could not be packing on more clothes if they tried.
The problem here is I always think he's an NPC. Now that's bad "important[ish] character" designing.
Also...that condom outfit.

I don't think she's overly important, but I would expect her to have more than a single quest.

They are fairly common as far as so-called big words go. Unlike Googly's hyperbolic parody, they weren't too flowery for the point Laiza was trying to make.
