new Super Mario Galaxy Famitsu scans

AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

Too bad you cannot play imports with PAL Wii's unless you mod them (which I will not do)... :(.

I hope it gets released in PAL land before Christmas... having to hear glowing comments from all the people with U.S. Wii's about the greatness called SMG will make me sad... :(.

Seriously, Jungle Beat was such an amazing game I'm not sure why I'm still surprised Mario Galaxy is following suit. :lol

I was real happy when I found out they were working on Mario.

AWESOME.

It's like Nintendo wasn't really going to try with the games this gen to give 3rd parties a chance, then they saw the (lack of) effort from third parties and the whining about the prowess of the Wii and said "**** it. Lets show them how it's done."

BAM!

And we have Galaxy, Brawl, and Corruption.

For the first time ever, I'll have a backlog.

Galaxy should be out in either AU or EU before the years out, so we're fine with that. However our friend Brawl won't be.

You must be the clone of David "European users do not mind waiting" Reeves, no other way you could justify waiting even a single day beyond November 12, 2007 to get this game!

:P.

However beautiful the scenes in the scans look, nothing put such a big smile on my face as this scene.

(Sorry all of you 56K'ers out there.)

Looks AMAZING!!! :D

I love this pic:

And, I've just remembered, the musical notes were missing in the E3 demo videos I saw, but they're shown here. I wonder what they're for?

SMG is going to be awesome!!

This planet looks like a Hub planet... Hmmm...

Also the musical notes in the last years E3 demo were just used to make something appear like an extra life.

It's really your own fault for buying a PAL system. You brought this upon yourself, Pana. :P

what is with that weird, ethereal sheen that is on everything? Was Mario and all the planets covered in clear Ghostbusters slime or something?

regardless, this looks like it has the potential to be the best Mario since 64.

That's a beautiful effect. It brings out the space theme and it's a great shading style.

I'd say the new hot chick is going to be Mario's guide through space.

I seriously hope she's one of many women that appears each time you beat Bowser, just to say "The Princess is in another Galaxy". My inner child would freak out with joy every time.

King Kai/Kao Sama in SMG confirmed!

I don't think I've ever seen an apple look better in a video game.

Also, those tiny planets are making me want to play Tetrisphere! C'mon, big N, bring it to the VC!

I just hope that the game will as long as Mario 64, at least.
The thing is with 40 levels there obviously aren't going to be as big and explorable as levels in Super Mario 64 since there is 120 stars still.(In Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine the stars are separated between 12 and 8 levels and of course the hub areas.) Miyamoto has said there are 6 greater areas (aka the hub, in SM64 it was the castle which was split up into 4 greater areas, the first floor, the basement, the second, and the third floor) So maybe those will be just as big as areas like the castle or Delfino Island.

40 Galaxies seems quite nice, that is a lot of levels.

With SMS they went with much bigger levels than SM64, but the adherence to the same island theme limited the variety provided.

With SMG, they followed the NSMB formula, that is tons of smaller levels instead of few larger ones. considering SM64 had about 15 different levels, we have more than double the amount of levels here, so we might find some levels to be shorter (but maybe still taking quite a bit to fully complete ;)) than the levels you find in SM64 with other levels being about the same size if not a tiny bit larger than SM64 levels.
What I like in SMG is the variety between the levels shown so far and also the variety in each level.

I would like to have quite a bit of BIG planets between those 40 galaxies (it is easier for me to control Mario while he moves and jumps onto a flat-ish surface than when he does on top of a sphere [at least I think from watching the videos]).

Wow, that is a lot of levels. I must admit, the more I see of this game, the more excited I become. This could become one of the best platformers ever made!

I saw the interview but I don't remember that part. Maybe it was another interview. There were at least 2-3 at this E3. If the game will be shorter, then I hope that the diversity in environments and wide areas will fill that point. The problem with Super Mairo Sunshine is that the choice of a tropical island was bad from the start, because, more or less, the environments were all similar.
The only part that excited me a lot was the Noki's bay. The rest was not a disappoinment, but there were too many connections between the worlds artistically. It seemed a little bit all the same. The last world (with the giant palm) was great, but not enough developed. I mean: the undergrond was great, but there was really almost nothing to do. Clearly, the game was a little bit "rushed", because of the Gamecube that needed games.
Partly I'm happy for Wii's success because Nintendo can take all the time they want to make great games worth to play; at least more then Mario Sunshine, even if it wasn't bad at all.

It doesn't mean the game will be shorter at all dude. It just means levels will be smaller. The game could be longer for all we know.

And the Island environment has nothing to do with small stages and Super Mario Sunshine has the largest worlds out of all the 3D Mario Platformers to date...

Never said that SMS's worlds were small. I said that if Super Mario Galaxy will be shorter in time (hypothesis), then (thesis) it should show a lot of different places to explore.
Sunshine, I confirm, was great, but simply too similar between its parts. The theme was "tropics & co." and you can change what you want that the entire game will always seems a tropical island. This precondition was simply not a nice idea.
Super Mario Galaxy instead, seems to bring not only wide and open worlds to explore (garanted overall by the ability to fly) but also some nice and different levels. In that sense, it seems more like SM64, but with another "dimension"due to the space.

The space has been a doubled great idea from the beginning, because:

1) Space is very large usually (obviously) and permits to create wide different places with vast planets, a lot of asteroids and so on.

2) Space is more "empty" then standard worlds. That's why Galaxy's graphics looks so gorgeous: because the amount of textures, effects and co. the graphics processor has to generate is smaller then a Metroid 3, for example, and this "trick" gives us the impressions that the game looks "almost next-gen". The relative small amount of things gnerated on the TV is enchanced to the limits of the hardware. The result is spectacular. But keep in mind that this is a factor and maybe even not decisive. The Tokyo team made a great job and this is surely more important then the "empty" space-trick.

oh rosetta!

She'll be a summery girl...and she'll have hair. She'll have summery friends that'll always be outside. She'll play Tennis and wear dresses and have bare feet! And in the autumn, i'll ditch her! 'Cos she's my summer girl!

I can't wait.

By the way, does someone know what's the use of the "ghost costume" we've seen in the trailer ?

I'd like to point out the fact that it seems that all of the larger sized planets in the game have a bit of an atmosphere like this. I think it's really amazing that they even thought about that.

EAD Tokyo is my favorite developer now. I must acquire this game immediately.

It would be interesting to know exactly which guys forms the team Tokyo. Not the names & co. of course (lol), but the provenience: were they all from Nintendo itself or from other studios like Intelligent Systems, for example ? (mmm, this is a very difficult question).

Technically speaking, Intelligent Systems is a first party developer for Nintendo.

By the way:
