Which direction will you guys head to when going off the plateau? I think I will head south, going to the lake first. Maybe I can encounter Zora clan there.
Sounds good to me.

It was built with Wii U in mind though.

The textures seem much better as does the draw distance. You gotta' remember, we've seen very, very little Wii U footage since E3. It's entirely possible the game has been changed / improved in a lot of ways since then.
My guess is outside of resolution and minor framerate differences, the final builds of both are going to look the same.
Sounds good to me.
The biggest question of the game. Man, I have no idea. I think I'll just pick the closest spot to wherever I am when it's time to leave. Just let the adventure take its course.
I can't decide if I want to meet the Zora or the Gerudo first.
Whichever is closer I guess.
You can't limit me with silly concepts like directions! I'll go wherever I please lol
Gonna see how far I can get on the *loooooooong* path to "Skull Lake"
That's the beauty of Breath of the Wild. Everyone can have own experience regarding the game! The discussion is going to be fun.
Can't even tell the difference between Wii U version and Switch.

I dont imagine the Wii U version looks and runs much better than the December Game Award build.
I think Liam Robertson says that the E3 build is pretty indicative of how it performs
Assuming both a visual and performance upgrade will happen when they've likely been focusing on Switch seems a bit weird.Yes, but it's possible the Wii U build has improved since the E3 demo. I mean, the lighting and color scheme in the opening shrine is completely different in the recent Switch build, so it's possible other things have been tweaked in both versions as well.
But yeah, it's also possible the Switch will be a decent upgrade.

Switch has around 3x the RAM and it having to be 900p for a locked (mostly) 30fps should be indicative that the Wii U version likely won't be without its struggles
Heck, I'm hoping you're right and the Switch version is a big upgrade, but it being a Wii U port doesn't instill me with a ton of confidence. I think the technical improvements will mainly be down to a resolution increase and a slightly more stable framerate.
Hard to know if any of these upgrades will be ported back to WiiU but from a few pages earlier:
I saw a comparison of this game's map compared to Skyrim and it is about 9x the size of Skyrim according to that comparison. How accurate is that?
And if it is accurate, that kinda worries me. From what I've seen they haven't really shown anything that warrants a gargantuan map like that. Not that It'll be a huge deal unless it's just a slog to get around the map which I doubt.
It's not too accurate, i think. fast travel seems pretty good, being able to warp to activated shrines whenever you want.I saw a comparison of this game's map compared to Skyrim and it is about 9x the size of Skyrim according to that comparison. How accurate is that?

Not at all likely. It's more like 1.5-2x larger going by the best estimates that have been done. So that's still pretty goddamn big and much bigger than Skyrim, but not 9x.
I posted about it on the second page.
I wonder if the handheld mode is closer to Wii U in terms of draw distance and texture quality which is why it runs as well as it does there.
There should be enough power for a higher IQ boost from handheld to console, but I guess if they're using the extra power for this stuff then it's fine.
I do imagine they'll buff out the frame dips which seem only present in the Docked mode by launch. Seems like it's pretty solid outside of rare occasions.

If this game was built fro mthe ground up on Switch it would look better than it does right now. At the end of the day, its just a port, and there is only so much you can do with that. ESPECIALLY if you are trying to keep parity between the 2 as best as possible.
You couldn't possibly know that, and all the likely credible information we have suggests you're wrong. Even the most conservative estimates derived from that information put it in range of being more capable than what this Wii-U port at launch is exhibiting.
What do you base this giant assumption on? Seems pretty premature.
And you know that how exactly?
id contest that. Its most certainly pushing the WiiU to the utmost, but it is a wiiU at the core on either platform
That's like saying twilight princess was the most the Wii could ever bring to the table.
Let's call it an uneducated guess.
I think that the switch will not have any title as expensive and complex as Zelda BoTW.

Lol what. Right off the bat the whole thing assumes they have Link's height accurately

Maybe in Handheld mode.Wiiu version defense force please reassure me that the two versions are roughly on par.
900p with an improved draw distance and a much more stable frame rate is enough for me although I'd like to see confirmation of better textures considering Switch apparently has more memory.
Did it look more or less stable than the Wii U gameplay at the game awardsFrom my hands on, it was definitely not stable at 900p.

I'm really curious what would happen if I were to go to Hyrule Castle. Would I automatically spoil the last boss?

I'm gonna go check out that island in the bottom right corner of the map. Then maybe I'll try to go clockwise from there?
Man I hope finding/marking completed Shrines isn't complicated given that there's bloody 120 of them.
I was either going towards Hyrule Castle or the mountain with the cloudy top...but there was another place that caught my interest, another set of mountains always obscured in clouds between Death Mountain and the twin peaks that they point out in this Gamexplain video. It's one of the least talked about places on the map but it looks like it's hiding something interesting, so I may head in that direction first.
I would never have predicted this post. Can't even tell the difference between Wii U version and Switch.
