Next-gen FIFA unveiled tomorrow @ #XboxReveal

Why do people think that a game being shown at a particular hardware companies conference must mean exclusivity? Have you guys never watched an E3 before? Publishers and hardware companies (including EA) routinely team up for press conferences and the games almost always end up being multiplat.

MS doesn't need to lock up either of those games as exclusives. They just need to create a strong perception that new Xbox is the best place to play the new versions of the games you love.

If they show off new Live features, video sharing, smartglass, and illumiroom features within popular games like FIFA, CoD, Forza/PGR, etc. they'll create buzz among casuals and lock them up for another generation. That word of mouth is worth a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft has had a hand in helping developers extend their games with features Only on Xbox.

Low and behold Call Of Duty ended up being the largest franchise wasn't it? That probably helped Microsoft a lot in selling Gold memberships and it was also perceived to be better on the 360. Just look at software sales for Grand Theft Auto and how Sony floundered that away from the PS2 to the PS3. I expect Microsoft to continue aligning themselves with high profile developers, whether it be with dlc or timed exclusive deals. It does work.

I would still like to see Microsoft take a more leadership role and come out strong with new 1st party ip's.

Here's a little thought. FIFA and COD sell millions of copies, but how many of those people buying those games will actually tune in tomorrow to watch the reveal? Hell how many of these actually watch the trailers online to see the next FIFA? From my experience all of my friends at college had FIFA 13 not because they read about it online but because it was FIFA fucking 13!!!!!! Simple as.

So unless there's some exclusivity deal behind FIFA here, I doubt this changes anything.

:| So much for expecting new things out of it. Oh well, at least we will get to see the console I guess.

It's a reveal for the console. So, yeah you are gonna see the console be revealed. E3 is less than a month away, so new games will be shown there. Were you really expecting them to shower us with new IPs at a one hour reveal?

Yeah they do but the UEFA is just a continental confederation of FIFA. The FIFA governs world football, UEFA European football. The UEFA licensed the CL rights to Konami, that's why the competition isnt included in FIFA.

But as far as advertisement is concerned that is irrelevant. The UEFA CL final is the most watched football event after the WC and EC, so an ad during the final would totally make sense.

Not a chance in hell, fifa is huge on ps3 ea share holders would be up in arms if they fucked about with those sales.

FIFA is huge on the PS3 and will be available on the PS3, I'd agree that EA shareholders would be pissed if they game didn't show up on the PS3, but that's not the case.

Although big games they will only be timed exclusives, if that. What this is showing is once again Micros focus on paying for timed exclusives and not investing in new ips. Deja vu all over again and although ppl are making this into apositive it is a negative imo. I didnt want to watch Xbox reveal for lame COD, a new fifa that i know is coming to ps4 and probably Destiny.

It makes sense because Sony will be getting PES, I don't think anyone is arguing that at all in this thread.

so we will see cod and fifa.... AGAIN! Why buy a new console then? I don't like non exclusive titles in a presentation either. Probably some kinect shit and a Taylor Swift performance and it will be one big dissapointment.

okay I am not 100% serious but it would be fun for the lulz here on GAF.

FIFA is one of the keys to gaining more marketshare in Europe for MS. The game won't be exclusive but they're going to try and get brand association with the series.

That would probably carry more weight if it wasn't for the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops is the best selling PS3 game, worldwide.

I really don't think any exclusive DLC on both sides did crap for console sales. It's a waste of time and money. And any MS 3rd party exclusive this time around will likely be taken with a huge grain of salt considering just about all of them ended up on the PS3 at some point.

Exclusive? Timed exclusives?!

Are you people losing your fucking minds?

Bingo. This is no different than the "XBOX 360" at the end of commercials for big titles.

With less features than last gen once again!

Isnt that the truth.... I hate how they dumb down the features only to trickle them out over the next few years. I love FIFA, and its my favortie sports game... hands down. I just hope they do it justice and pack it full.

You know im talking about it as a ps4 release. There is no chance in hell ea brings anything exclusive like UT or release on nextbox, it would be like ms not getting the next cod not going to happen and makes no sense as a business move.

Of course they are going to be on Nextgen consoles. Millions upon millions of people play these games, just because it doesn't excite you doesn't mean that a shit ton of other people won't want to buy a new console.

It will be hard, its pretty locked in with sony they run fifa ads with sony across europe and ms isnt really a factor in mainland europe.

Yeah I don't think thats happening any time soon, especially since FIFA is most popular in Europe.

the 360 had FIFA 07 as a next gen "exclusive" and it did jack all.

Well this is definitely big news in terms of getting more people to watch. But sports games and COD singleplayer, are both so damn boring.
