Hoenn, in retrospect, was a pretty good region before you hit that massive expanse of water. If it were never there, people's memories of it would be better, sort of like how the Triforce hunt ruined Wind Waker for a lot of people.

Yeah the water sections just annoyed me. I really enjoyed Mossdeep and Sooto though and the plot around that point is pretty interesting. But I just wanted out of the water at that point.

I semi agree. I say semi because I think the games are better than "good", but I agree that they won't be truly impressive until they make "that" leap.

I don't want to discredit their innovations, but I can't help but feel they have a rightly deserved "if it aint' broke don't fix it" mentality.
It'd be nice to be blown away by a Pokemon game again, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

It's not my favourite region, but I liked Hoenn well enough. The focus on water and use of stuff like Dive gave it a unique identity.

Yeah, but Hoenn was pretty weak as far as female gym leaders go (sans Roxanne). The one downfall of Generation III.

I always wondered why Poison isn't more useful. I get that Toxic Poison is a death sentence, but regular poison is just like Burn without the stat decrease. Poison should halve your Sp Atk.
