Run Away is a great ability for playthroughs like that, but you do need levels toward the end so you don't end up being OHKOed by everything before you can use Super Fang. After all, a 'playthrough' consist of actually being able to finish the game.

I've never used gimp before so I really wouldn't know, but if it's anything like photoshop you can draw straight lines holding the shift key.

Who are you going against? A team stacked with Dark, Psychic, and Flying types should be able to breeze through the E4.

You should be able to eek out a victory with those three. Remember your type match-ups and with a little luck and a lot of Full Restores you're set.
