Eh, I don't tend to lump entire Generations of designs together. They've pretty much all got their share of ones I like and others I don't.
The only one I was mostly negative about off the bat was an odd numbered one, Gen 5, and even that had plenty that I warmed up to.

I loved the new evolutions in Gen 4 for the most part, part of why I love that gen so much in fact.
Rhyperior is great, one of the better evolutions (compared to Lickilicky, Tangrowth, Probopass, Froslass and Ambipom, which are my own personal bottom-tier.)
Cross-generational Gen 4 evolutions I loved or really liked:

Aside from most of the Gen 3 Pokemon being hideous, worthless, or padded by being cloned for double battles, I also didn't like how it didn't have many callbacks to earlier gens. Gen 4 was awesome because we got a great deal of fanservice, as well as many evolution lines actually becoming viable. Electivire is a force to be reckoned with.

I'd say i generally liked most of what was in gen 2 and 4 pokemon-wise, except for lickitung evolution...ugh so bad. But honestly after gen 4/5 i can honestly say I'd not even be the least bit sad if they did nothing (evolution, pre-evo wise) with the first 493 ever again.

I think I would consider Froslass to be the worst design in all of Pokemon.
Tangrowth isn't that bad, but it's not too good. It's the best one of my bottom-tiers, though. He's like the Captain Falcon of Gen 4 cross-gen designs.

Gen II and V are definitely the worst designs. With gen II taking the edge. Some BUTT ugly Bug-types.
