Now imagine if Greenburg saw those.

I'd be more worried about the lack of native 1440p output on the PS5, or was this confirmed? I expect only 1080 and 4k. Speaking as someone that used a PS4pro on a 1440p display and switched it to a 4k one, the difference is very noticeable.

Correct no they haven't confirmed. but PS will scale games to 4k instead. I am using 32" monitor.

Then why not just mention ' Xbox Series'?

:messenger_tears_of_joy:

Shows that most of the marketing departments don't think that "Xbox Series" is a good descriptor.

I don't mind the X|S branding, but they should've used a different sub name, rather than just Xbox or Xbox Series. Something similar to Sega branding of old could have worked great, Xbox Saturn X|S or something, but obviously something that wasn't previously used. But, if MS's approach goes the way I think it will with hardware, I can see the need to just brand on "Xbox".

Agreed, XSX's GPU L1 cache having to feed 40% more CU's per array while having 20% less bandwidth is something serious to consider. The situation is similar for the L2 cache. PS5 has clearly a stronger cache subsystem.

Many games this generation figured out a way to do huge fields of grass, and the "trick" was in using the caches more effectively. You did not see that technique used early in the PS4 generation, and I think it was Horizon Zero Dawn that was one of the first games to use this.

Expect this technique to be used even more the next generation. The faster you render all the vegetation in a scene, the more time you have to render all the other stuff.

The caches are larger, so more detail can be held in localized memory, and the more objects. This also saves on power, as going to memory is very power expensive.

Hogwarts Legacy screenshots, this game feels like current gen on ultra and sometimes at lower, it's pretty rough at some points. 60fps sometimes, and even as low as 20fps in some parts. Looks like very early build that they rushed it out. It's a multiplat so far, running on PS5 dev-kit.

I did not know about this, very interesting. Thanks for your input.

I have a question: Does anyone else think the S could potentially have a more efficient GPU flow than the X? Ali Salehi stated that because of the split RAM and not high enough clockspeed of 1.825GHz, it would be difficult to access all 52 CU's concurrently and that a good compromise would be to do about 20 at a time on the X. With only 20 CU's on the S and just a slightly lower clockspeed of 1.565GHz, is it possible the S can access all ITS CU's at all times in comparison, or do we still have the lower bandwidth to deal with?

Wasn't the UE5 demo 1440 native?

PS4pro can output via HDMI 1080 or 4k. Not 1440p. Doesn't matter what the internal resolution of the game is. If the pro is set to 4K output, it scales 1440p -> 4K. If your display is only 1440p compatible, the display rescales the 4k signal to 1440p and it looks blurry as a result.

If the PS4pro could output a native 1440p signal, it would be sharper on a 1440p display.

PS4 Pro downsampling 4K down to 1440p does not look necessarily blurry as heck, that is how anti aliasing works... it depends on how good the scaler you are relying on is sure.

If a console can output 1440p native it can do the scaling itself and thus free you of worrying about having a monitor scaler good enough for the job or not.

Just not true I have my PS4 Pro on an LG 27GL850 1440p display and its not blurry at all.

In fact it looks really nice outputting at 4k and the monitor downscales it to 1440 and looks good.

Demon's Souls install is 66 GB. Miles Morales is 50 GB. Miles Morales plus Spider-Man PS5 is 105 GB.

Source: bottom of each store page. Pages for Sackboy and Destruction AllStars are also up, but no sizes listed there.

EDIT: looks like games might be a bit larger than last gen as a general rule, but there is no huge jump. Spider-Man went from 45 GB to 55 GB, probably they increased texture resolution but cut out all the duplicates.
Spider-Man with all DLC and patches is 69 GB on my PS4. The PS5 remaster of Spider-Man is how big exactly? Because that includes all DLC.

The Dolby support is for the 4K Blu-ray movies. It is games where Sony are doing their own thing.

Ok that makes alot more sense now since the console can play UHD movies. I looked on my Pro and that logo doesn't even appear on it.

Sonys version of Dolby Atmos is the Tempest Engine combined with their own sound technology. Sony also owns Wise so they could be using tech from them.
