I will answer the first for now.

If a ps3 remake at 80 euros is what next generation is about, then I say fuck next generation.
DS was good back at the day, but for today's standards not so hot.
I can understand the excitement and memories of people, but running in a corridor to hit one opponent is not what I expect from next gen to hype me.

You have to remember, I had told you many months before that this would make launch. I knew because I have a few friends at sony who are crazy about their memories of this game, so they had asked around. because of them also I know that memory-excitement feeling about DS.
Personally I am not into souls-type games, but no big deal. I can understand.
I am not buying the game though, to answer to that part too. I still have it on my ps3, which is working and connected, and never felt the desire to replay it.


I have to say though, that with how things came, its a pity that this will be the poster child for ps5's launch.
I am willing to bet that in a few months it will release to ps4 too.
And you very much know that if this was releasing day-date on ps4, hype about it probably would be lower.
This tells much about playstation fans "need" to brag "exclusives"

As confirmation of features missing. machine learning, variable rate shading etc, these are things that will play a role as we gradually roll into next gen games.
Also about how the ps5 clocks work. Leadbetter asked Cerny in person if there is a low limit for the clocks, and cerny declined to answer. now what does that make you think?

Finally, I write about performance stuff ONLY when I read hilarious things about comparing xbox to ps5.
My posts are always reasonable and very well supported. AND POLITE.
Some people do understand, while some others don't.
I already know that I'll be using my ps5 for those first party games that I do care about, so the performance differences are not my main concern.
I have said many times that my personal interest is the behavior and the noise ps5 will make. my ps4s are a bad contrast to my xboxes in these matters.

Memory bandwidth feeds the caches, and the speeds all teh way to the cU are also important.

Your missing how all the CU are being fed work, the cache speeds and cache sizes and how wide or fast they are.

L2 XSX is 5 MB feeds 4 shader arrays and 4 x L1, each L1 feeds 14 CU

L2 Ps5 is unknown and feeds 4 shader arrays and 4 x L1, each L1 feeds 10 CU

With 20 % faster clocks you need to wait, they could be closer, they me not be,....?????

Agreed, XSX's GPU L1 cache having to feed 40% more CU's per array while having 20% less bandwidth is something serious to consider. The situation is similar for the L2 cache. PS5 has clearly a stronger cache subsystem.

IMO it is not "the best looking game so far". I think COD campaign, A/C, D2:Beyond Light, Spiderman and even Watch Dogs will look better overall, while doing many more things at the same time. Let alone CyberPunk.

The white label doesn't seem to be in sections, you would have to remove an entire panel just from the bottom. More and more I think you'll remove one of the white plates.

I expect this thing to be virtually invisible for months on shelves. I know they say they'll have more PS5s than PS4s, but I don't see that making much difference.

PS4 BC is just too important to be ignored, it's much easier to keep people in your ecosystem if they can bring their catalog to the new console. What you said is probably what they did with PS Now, streaming PS1-PS3 games instead of BC.

Still there are discrepancies among cpu and gpu:

XSX gpu is either 16.7% (12:10.28) faster or the PS5 GPU is 14.3% (10.28:12) slower .. not sure where those 18% come from.

Small correction, XSX GPU isn't 16.7% faster, in fact every part of the XSX GPU is around 20% slower than PS5's. XSX having 18% more (max theoratical) vector ALU throughput is tied to number of CUs not speed.

Frankly, the PS5 being sold out left and right doesn't surprise me. The PS4 has sold about 100 millilon units and the PS5 begins with 10 million. That means only 1 out of 10 PS gamers are getting theirs day one. It's going to be a slaughter and expect many scumbags on E-Bay making a quick buck by selling their pre-ordered PS5s for 1000-2000 euros/dollars. Some are even proudly admitting they're resorting to this tactic.

I remember playing the games based on the first two books back on the ps1 so tentatively excited for this as well. And it definitely looks nice in some scenes but a lot of frame drops in others. Hopefully it’s an early build and gets cleaned up by release

I would like to know hard numbers behind this "preorders sold out in minutes / hours worldwide" thing.
Did Sony sell 1000 units, 10K, 100K, 1Mio, 10Mio worldwide until now? That would be more interesting then the number of minutes in which an unknown number of devices were sold.

No, I mean ... it's not a port, it's not a cheap remaster, it's a full-on remake built from the ground up. It's basically a new game which simply immitates a lot of the original's game design. With his logic, Final Fantasy VII Remake should be sold at 30 bucks or something because it's a remake of a PSX game. It doesn't work like that on any level.

As for Shadow of the Colossus, I'm not entirely sure why they sold it at a lower price. Perhaps there was less work to be done on the game world? Not sure. But I sure as hell do not expect the game to be sold at a budget price.

FF7:R is actually great to bring up. That’s a completely different game. It takes the general story beats and designs of the original game and takes them in a completely different direction with a completely different style of game.

In comparison Demons souls seems like a ton less effort, being seemingly a 1:1 recreation, just with all new graphics. It’s like Demons souls had half the work, only graphics and not game design. So maybe costing less would make sense
