Personally I thought they outthought themselves and were trying to be clever. Something like "aha! AP is clearly our best player and EVERYONE expects him to get the ball so we'll give it to Gerhart and they'll never see it coming!" which is stupid because the reason everyone expects him to get the ball is he's a beast on the field but nonetheless that's the only "logic" I can think of behind that gift of a playcall.

Even if they made the 4th down. That does not mean the result would have been any different.

Like I have said before. Lions won that game. Usually these big comback involve flue pick 6's or Special steam plays. But we won playing straight up. No turnovers or SP gimmick plays.

That's why I see this as a big win for lions not a choke job on viking. Lions just played/coached better.

I know they're trying to de-tard the defense but they should rest Tramon.

Those Bionic Commando shoulder braces always make me nervous.

Hell, rest him until after the bye...

he leaves football for two glorious weeks every year to call baseball. Actions, not words.

LOL. We all see our home teams this way. If they win, it's because they pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and overcame all obstacles on their way to glory. If your team loses, it's not that the other team beat you, it's that we made mistakes and gave the game away when we were clearly had it in our hands.

It's like we forget the other team has professional athletes too.

There's a few of us roaming around but not many. Steelers fan are more dominant around here. There's a fair share of Eagles fans, but Steelers definitely. Most are good people which is why I don't have much of an issue with the Steelers as a franchise.

Eagles fans, however....
I think I have been in your neck of the woods to get lunch or Starbucks on occasion. Harrisburg and Hershey (I kind of lump the two together) are not bad in the summer when the weather is nice and it has a Popeyes so it can be classified as civilized.

Nice to hear that they are God fearing people in PA's capitol and are mostly Steelers fans. It is always entertaining when you see a Giants fan in Philly, I doubt you get a similar welcome in Harrisburg.

That's crazy. I actually like listening to him calling baseball games. It's soothing white noise.

Not sure if this was posted, but the Texans have released Steve Slaton.

He's been awful ever since he got hurt. Typically Rick Smith wouldn't cut earlier him b/c he didn't want to look dumb by cutting his own early round draft pick

All GMs do this so I guess it's wrong to make fun of Smith for it

I completely agree. I don't think the Vikings are a great team BUT for ANY team to come back from 20 points down on the road is extremely difficult. At the very least you're going to have the home crowd screaming at you the whole way which can rattle you a lot (and I thought did in the first half a bit). The Lions not only came back in the second half, they kind of dominated and they didn't really play particularly consistently well I thought.

I think once the Lions really gel and get a complete game effort in all phases (and it WILL happen at some point) we're going to be a force to be reckoned with. We're winning games on the road with sloppy play that in previous years that would absolutely KILL us.

I will say though that while we're still making the occasional stupid penalty (and I don't actually mean the Backus false starts which I do think were crowd noise related) like Gosder's personal foul in week 1 we DO at least seem a bit more disciplined on the whole, a bit less likely to self destruct with penalties (and again, Backus's false starts while not excusable were more due to the crowd noise).

Great OP again Bucket

We played well in the comeback, but lets be serious. Total choke job by the Queens. They were in the drivers seat and let off the gas. If they has kept feeding AP, Detroit would have been done. Our Lions took advantage of bad clock management and playcalling by Minnesota to win the game. A win is a win, but we were totally gifted that.

Born and raised in Buffalo and it seemed like that Pats totally handed us the win last week.

Granted, I loved every second of it, but minus those sloppy throws by Brady (and an absurd penalty or two) we didn't have a chance.

Tempted to pick the Broncos over the Packers because it's about that time of year when we have a few HERP A DERP losses. I'd prefer we do it against some AFC opponents this time around. Although my head is telling me that it'll likely happen @Minnesota or something dumb.

You will all watch the coronation of King Freeman on Monday night. The man, the myth, the legend will introduce himself to the world in his first prime time game. Men will want to be him, women will want to be with him, and Gruden will want both.

Unless you live in Tampa Bay then you won't be watching anything because the game will be blacked out!

It appears as if Tampa Bay’s streak of home games without a sellout will end at 10 (regular-season games).

The team said Tuesday that approximately 2,000 tickets remain for the Monday night game. If all of those are sold by Friday evening, the game will not be blacked out on local television.

Freeman will not be denied in your homes!

I Dont think it was gifted. Gifted is when a ball bounce of someone heads and intro a hand of a defense for pick six, gifted is when you keep having stupid before or after snap penalties, gifted is when someone scores at hail mary or weird special teams or even some stupid turnovers.

None of that happened in that comeback. Yes, we out coached them, just like we got out coached and played in the first half.

Again, we did to them what they did to us in the first half. Which was out coached and out played.

EDIT: We stacked to stop the run in 2nd half. If they have kept running in that brink wall that same people would have said that "They were too conservative".

Reason why the Ravens will win the Superbowl that has nothing to do with football- my life is crumbling around me and I NEED it more than any of you. So to my fellow Ravens GAF, you're welcome.

Did you think Detroit Chocked in the first half? Or do you think they were simply out played by the vikes. Because that is exactly what happend in the 2nd half.

Neither team relied on turnovers, penalties or gimmicky plays to win.

Just like detroit which got outplayed and coached in the first half. Minnesota got out coached and played in 2nd. There is nothing more than that.

Right. I wonder which Steeler team will show up. The one that got creamed by Balt and looked like sheeeite vs the Colts, or the team that bounced back from that Raven loss and shutdown Seattle.

Personally, Tomlin has his work cut out for him this week. Matt Schaub ain't no Kerry Collins.... And there ain't nobody that is as bad as Curtis Painter.

Hahahah...is this sarcasm?

You won't get it next week either because both the Giants and Eagles play at 1. You might get it on CBS tho because it's @ Buffalo.

CBS and FOX follow the away team for their broadcast.

Examples:

Texans @ Giants: CBS
Giants @ Texans: FOX
Colts @ Texans: CBS
Eagles @ Giants: FOX

I remember reading a previous post about this. Hang in there bud. And God speed to your Ravens, up until they get demolished by the Packers in the Super Bowl.

By the way, only found out he was going to call the Pack Bears game at the last minute. As soon as I heard his sultry voice I knew that that we'd win. Buck is unstoppable.

Also, sorry Washington/St Louis... Gus Johnson has been relocated to the Minnesota/Kansas City game!

Gus Johnson special guest referee in the Suck For Luck sweepstakes!!!

Pshhh, I say that because Detroit was forced to suffer through Shitna for 2 years. And why not site Romo? He is just going to get reinjured if he plays Detroit. Sacrifice Shitna so your season isn't a total wash again like last year

I'll go so far as to say that we did out-coach the Vikings in the second half, but I think that has more to do with Leslie going full-derp than the Schwartz making some manner of godly halftime adjustments. I mostly agree with Goldlion in that even with the Lions pulling together and playing really well in the second half, it would have been incredibly easy for the Vikings to hold on to that lead. I don't care if Detroit stacks up 11 to stop the run, you do not walk into a half with a twenty point lead and only hand it to the best running back in football five times. Even if they didn't score any more from it than they did, it would have eaten up the clock faster and forced us to change our game plans.

The result of the game is a combination of the Lions performing a massive gut-check and the Vikings crumbling, but I walked away from that game more worried about how we fell so far behind in the first place than I was impressed by the comeback.

Just reading some wrap-ups of the Lions v. Vikings, and Detroit used five of its eight (soon to be nine) linemen on the 4-and-1 to stop the run. Suh, Williams, Hill, Fluellen and Vanden Bosch. I love having this much depth.

The Steelers have no chance to win this year so I will take most of my pleasure from the failures of the other teams, and the Packers failing will be only second to the Pats. I can't wait until that day when this board will finally be cconi free as all of the Packer fans will flee to the MLB or Republican threads.

Joe Buck/Gus Johnson booth plz.
How dare you besmirch the good name of Joe Buck by adding that pretender in the same sentence. As far as i know Gus' record with the Packers isn't a glorious 8–0(that's a conservative estimate) like it has been with Joe and Troyover the past two seasons. Can't mess with the formula!

Winner of the AFC West vs NFC West All-Star team. 1 more playoff wild card spot.
Let's get it done Congress.

Lets just add promotion and relegation like soccer leagues, NFC West last place finisher has to swap out with the best team in the SEC.
