I'm ignoring the guy above you who clearly knows as much about football as I do about assembling a B-52 from paper mache. Testaverde? Get the fuck out of here.

You? You have hope.

However, I think the fact that he holds so many records with basically one very good receiver should tell you how great the guy was. There have been plenty of QBs around for more than a decade. None have his pedigree, records or success. Again, he's shit this year, but he was amazing for a 40 year old last year. His career with Green Bay is legendary.

Hate who he is now, fine. But to deny his success over his career? Ignoring reality. Scroll down to "records and milestones."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_career_achievements_by_Brett_Favre#Records_and_milestones

You don't get that by being okay for a long time. Ask Todd Collins. He's one of the best to ever slang.

He doesn't belong in the same group as Montana, Marino, Manning, and co. is what I'm saying. He had more weapons than Marino dreamed of. 95% of those stats are all-time. Season stats are more impressive because that's just what matters in the NFL. He was a stud in the 90s and had a few great seasons since but he is still not in that top tier of qb imo. He is just not what you think of when you think ideal quarterback and rightfully so.

Also from the link of milestones you posted,
(2nd) Consecutive seasons with a TD pass: 19 (Vinny Testaverde, 21) :lol

I know that's about as meaningless as stats get (and I say about because of the next line of my post on Favres list of 'records') but I found it hilarious still.

Completions in a game played on a Friday: 30
Hey, that long list looks impressive though! (I know there are quite a few impressive stats psheesh)

Spags is a great coach who will always have a place in New York football lore. Glad to see he's turning things around in the heartland with his cast of veterans, young guns, and some ex-Giants.

As for Charlie Whitehurst, do any Seahawks (or even Charger) fans have a scouting report on him?

While it seems better that the Giants don't have to face Hasselbeck I always get nervous being the first team to play a rookie QB, before anyone has a a lot of film on him. Hopefully the Giants d-line can pick up where the Raiders left off and keep him on his back.

Decent arm, semi mobile, locks on to his first read an awful lot.

Probably has a decent chance of not dying, unlike Hasslebeck, and he might complete a pass of more than 15 yards! I also see him throwing a couple of really dumb INTs due to pressure.

Needs to be put on display.
In all seriousness, I don't know which analyst should have less clout: an ex-Raider exec or an ex-Browns scout.

I guess the beingfuckedup took care of the latter...

Alright so it's a Win for the Giants then :o?

Well, Lombardi and Green do/did draft analysis.

ESPN knows to keep Millen away from that. He's actually good on color commentary.

I don't think Seattle would win with Peyton Manning playing QB for them this weekend, the offensive line is in such terrible shape right now.

Whats with Seattle and injuries to the Oline? Hasn't this happened the last 2-3 years in a row now?

I had the weirdest time tonight. One of the hottest girls in a group of friends was talking to me, and it was going great. Then I realize she is a huge sports nerd which has me mini-orgasming. Then I find out she is a huge Browns fan. Who the fuck is a Browns fan? Who is Brian Sipe? And how can Belicheat be a bad coach just cause the browns sucked when he had them?

Man, she was pretty nice but goddamn was I struggling to keep up. Just my smattering of knowledge of pre-90's football kept me afloat in her sea of Cleveland Browns opinions. Later (now), Im just sitting here reading the wiki article about the team cause I don't want to disappoint.

How could this happen?

Favre is probably going to keep playing just to be a douche and take the record away from Vinny.

PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson(notes) is wearing a new helmet, made by Schutt, that is designed to prevent concussions.

Jackson suffered his second concussion in as many seasons when he took a vicious hit from Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson(notes) on Oct. 17. Robinson was fined $50,000 for delivering the blow, and Jackson missed the Eagles’ loss at Tennessee on Oct. 24.

Jackson remains optimistic about returning Sunday against Indianapolis, and has been a full participant in practice the last two days. But a final determination about his status has not yet been made.

Jackson said after Thursday’s practice that he has worn helmets made by Schutt since he was “a little kid.”

“Never had a problem,” he said.

But he was recently given a newer model helmet, which according to the Schutt website has additional cushioning that will help protect players from injury.

Asked how it feels, he said, “I don’t know, man. I haven’t played a game yet. It feels better, a little bit.”

The NFL has a contract with Riddell, but players are permitted to wear helmets made by other companies if they obscure the logo.

Does Ridell not have a helmet with extra padding? If not the NFL should buy out the contract and one with Schutt for the extra padding helmets.

Jackson should be out for a few more games. This shit happened with Westbrook and we tried to bring him back...got hit by a soft blow and was never capable of coming back.

We can't afford for Jackson to become a pussy or get ktfo and plan early retirement.

I lived through and watched football pre-90s and even I don't want to remember it!

It was a strange and different world back then. In the 80s the Bungles and Browns were the dominant teams in the AFC North. The Steelers were pretty horrible for me to watch as a kid (though back then I was stupid enough to think that with a little more practice that guys like Bubby Brister and Mark Malone could be good!).

If you to get in that girl's pants just tell her that the two things you hate most in this world are Art Modell and John Elway. That pretty much sums up the Cleveland experience.

P.S. Don't speak to her of your undying love of Ben Roethlisberger. She won't get it.

Seems to be the consensus. Think he went out after Pollard leaped onto his back as he headed OOB.

I never saw that play and still can't find it online. Any links?

BTW, thanks to Snrub for my new avatar! <3

Also Jim Brown and Otto Graham. That alone should get a BJ in the back seat of the car :p

Just nod your head and say, "Yeah, my favorite Browns years were 96-98."

There are a couple of helmets with outer soft shells that are coming out. Unfortunately, they look oversized, so players don't want to wear em.

Deion Sanders is pissed that he's number 34 on the list. And I think he has a great point.

IRVING, Texas -- A 1-6 start hasn't drained the optimism from receiver Roy Williams, who is confident that the Dallas Cowboys can recover and run the table the rest of the season.

"We can go nine in a row, if you ask me," Williams said Thursday. "People can call me stupid or whatever, but this football team has the core of players, it has the supporting cast of players to win nine in row. We just got to get it started just for other players to be like, 'All right, we got it now.'"

The 1970 Cincinnati Bengals are the only team in NFL history to recover from a 1-6 start to make the playoffs. Williams believes the Cowboys can become the second, although he acknowledges that the Cowboys probably need to win the rest of their games to earn a playoff berth.

And Williams' dreams don't stop at just making the playoffs. He's still talking about the Cowboys playing in the Super Bowl in their home stadium.

"It would be a great storybook ending," Williams said. "It would be awesome. I don't know if they'd put us in the Hall of Fame for that if this [team] was going to go on and win the Super Bowl, but it's a tough feat to cross. But if there is any team in the league that can do it, it's the Dallas Cowboys."

Williams expressed similar optimism in the middle of losing seasons during his tenure with the Detroit Lions. He admits now, however, that he didn't really believe it at the time.

But Williams insists that his confidence in the Cowboys hasn't waned despite a schedule that includes six remaining games against teams with winning records, beginning with Sunday's road game against the NFC North-leading Green Bay Packers.

"I've just been a believer, man," Williams said. "I've just been a believer in this football team. I don't know if everybody's believing, but I think once we win one, two, three in a row, then it's on. This is the team that we're supposed to be."

Tight end Jason Witten, a team captain, believes it's in the Cowboys' best interests to keep a short-term view in mind.

"That's the ultimate goal," Witten said when told Williams believes the Cowboys can go undefeated the rest of the season. "But, for us, we've been so caught up in just trying to get a win. It's gotten away from us to where you get back to, 'Let's win this one. Then we'll get to the next one.' If you're thinking anything bigger than that, it's kind of hard to focus."

It is stupid to get upset over your position on that list. I don't think you can rank players like that. Just say that he is one of the greatest players ever and be done with it.

Giant and Falcon fans, who would you trust more in an elimination pick?

I am leaning towards the Falcons but I think the Giants are a better team.

What say you?

Matt Ryan has only lost 1 game at home. Mike Smith has only lost 3. New Orleans smoked Tampa a couple of weeks ago.

Looks like Dunta Robinson is back this week too.

Is this for that suicide pool? Nothing against the Bucs players or coaches, but I really don't see the Bucs winning this week.
Yes. And I don't share your confidence. If the game is close then the Bucs could definitely win it. Freeballin is clutch.

I think the jury is still out on Tampa, their wins have been against sub-500 teams.
They are without a doubt much improved, but I'm not sold yet.

This game will prove if they're for real or just frauds. I think they pull it off, but just barely. But I think the Saints will come back and win the division.

I agree with him. He should be way higher. I wonder if he got knocked down because he acts like such a fool on NFLN.
