stop whining about Tabris and Doc Emerick insufficiently lathering the Shorks, nobody cares

This is what matters. Naked Kesler closing out the Phoenix Bettmans in style.

LIKE A BOSS

I don't remember the last time Kesler scored in the SO before tonight's game. It's been too long.

Really strange how the Canucks haven't looked impressive in weeks and yet are still 7-0-3 in their last ten. 4 of those wins have been in the SO and one in OT. Finding ways to win while at times being dominated. Gracias a Lu.

Exactly. There is no Cinderella in hockey.
If TBay somehow wins that game 7, Vancouver would have gotten the cup.

Boston and Tampa both ended the 2011 regular season with 103 points. TB was only a goal away from the SCF. I don't think you can automatically say they would have lost to Vancouver even if I agree that the Canucks matched up against them better than they did against the Bruins.

If we were talking about the 6-8 seeds who all finished 10 pts out of the 4th seed I would think it was a better example, those teams didn't make it out of the first round and probably wouldn't have advanced any further than the Conference Finals.

An inordinate amount of games over the last few years between the Rangers and B's have been 1 goal games.

Im calling a big win (by at least 2 goals) for the home team tomorrow. Bruins got their shit together a little bit last game and this is their last home game before a 6 game roadie. Rangers, on the other hand, are in the midst of a tough stretch of games including a double header this past weekend.

It would be pretty insane if you could claim you fucked the great ones daughter, he must be pretty embarrassed though.

Rumour going out that Canucks are interested in Carter. A deal for that would definitely involve moving Ballard to Columbus and possibly another roster player to clear space, but his cap hit is pretty reasonable, its just his contract that's terrifying.

It'd be an interesting trade to say the least, getting Carter WOULD stack us offensively, and if Ballard's part of it, it'd be giving Columbus a shitty contract for their even shittier contract, one which the Canucks could afford to eat if they really had to.

It would really depend on how much Columbus hates Carter and how much other teams are scared off by his contract.

lol Kypreos

Just to give you an idea how full of shit he is, he also said Chicago was interested in trading Patrick Kane for Ryan Miller straight up. Think about it realistically. Why would Columbus trade a 60-80pt 1st line center for Keith Ballard+spare parts? Columbus may be stupid, but they aren't that stupid.

Oh, I am more than well aware that Kypreos is likely very full of shit. That was pretty much my first thought when I heard it:

"Is this guy some kind of idiot?"

Apparently, the Canucks might have more caproom than everyone though as Gillis said the capgeek numbers are way off. Canucks might not need a Ballard salary dump to make room for a potential Carter trade.

I guess it depends on if Columbus is planning on blowing itself up and starting a rebuild next season. I they are, a deal around Schneider and picks could potentially work, especially if they don't want to keep Carter's contract, which has to be a pain for any sort of rebuild.

It's more likely than not a farfetched rumour, but it COULD potentially be something interesting. If Columbus does want to move Carter, I can't see a lot of teams that would want him AND be able to take on his contract. There's only a handful of teams that could bury something like that if they really had to.

They'd have to deal more than Schneider for it to work.

Doesn't matter. Those 5-8 teams just don't win. They ALWAYS have a harder, larger hill to climb. And if this season is any indication, they were overachieving big time, whereas the Bruins belonged where they were.

Bruins or Jeremy Lin?

Oh wait I can't watch either tonight. Thanks Dolan, you cunt.

Kinda happy that the Leafs do play a bit later tonight. Going to the Raptors game against Lin and the Knicks then might be back in time to at least catch the third period of the game.

I'll even throw Sekera in

In a nutshell, "right team" for Nash is whichever one he decides is right. No Movement Clause. One guy driving bus here, one guy only: Nash.

Bobbymac on Rick Nash.

Basically he's available, only to the one team he chooses to go to.

Kypreos doesn't throw junk out there.

Nash had his chance to leave but elected to stay. His contract is a huge problem for any team that wants to be good. 7.8/8 years... I thought long contracts were supposed to lower the cap hit.

Hearing the Rangers name being thrown around in Nash talks is weird.
Pros - Exactly the kind of finisher this team needs
Cons - Holy shit @ that contract. Would fuck us up in a few years when Step, Mac Truck,MDZ, ect need new contracts in the coming years.

Maybe Rangers trade for him, use him for playoffs, and if they're able to go all the way - trade him at the draft!

He was more speculating than actual reporting. He's pretty spot on regarding trade information but his analysis and speculation sucks. Just like Dreger.

Nash - Richards - Gaborik

Would there be a more expensive line in the NHL? No idea if Richards/Gaborik actually play together but still.

I don't think Nash will be moved. I expect Burke (and many other GMs) to inquire, but his contract is an issue (as Wendel mentioned) and I fully expect Howson to ask for way too much in return.

On the plus side, if Chicago actually does lose tonight, that should be enough to get rid of at least an assistant coach. Mike Kitchen preferrably.

Now we'll start to pretend to be interested.

A Vanek for Kane trade, straight up, wouldn't be an unfair proposition. They're similar players, statistically. I actually like Vanek though... so I'd be apprehensive to send him out.

If a deal was done, though, and I was GM, I'd have to throw Sekera in just to sweeten it ;)

I would love Nash on the Leafs, as he's a great player, but the contract is awful. He would make the Grabovski line better than the Kessel one. I'm not sure if I see Burke trading for that contract. He has acquired bad contracts before, but they were never long term. Lombardi + Komisarek = 8 million cap hit, and they are massively overpaid. All of that cap space for one player until 2018? The contract + NMC is going to get a team a good player for cheap. RIP Columbus.

Nash - Richards - Gaborik

They don't. Richards plays with Callahan and a revolving door of LW, and Gaborik plays with Stepan and Anisimov. If it was the rumored deal of Dubinsky, Kreider and a 1st, (which I am insanely torn on), our top 6 would be:

Anisimov - Stepan - Gaborik
Nash - Richards - Callahan

Rather slats pull a straight jack move and send Anisimov. Then dump Wolski somewhere.

Nash for Schneider, Ballard, Raymond, and a 2nd/1st round pick?

I could see it. They need D, they need G desperately and the rest offensive depth to make up for Nash while they rebuild.

I would be willing to pay that heavy price for Sedin + Sedin + Nash with still keeping Hodgson.

No one wants Keith Ballard

Can someone explain why Rinaldo got two games for leaving his feet to make a hit against Detroit while Kronwall also left his feet to hit Briere in the same game and got away with no punishment?

He will but in the end this all falls on Rick Nash. He has the NMC so even if Howson does find a deal if Nash doesn't like that team it's done. If he is open to being moved I'm sure he'll give a list or something of teams that he wouldn't mind playing for and then Howson would work off that.

Kronwall's hit was a beauty. Clean as can be. Feet barely left the ice, and if they did they did so after contact was made.

Seriously, there are many, many other Kronwall hits that are more questionable. If everyone hit like Kronwall did on Briere, there wouldn't be concussions galore in the league.

No thanks to Nash. Yuck. I don't want the Leafs to give up quality assets to get a $7.8 million underachieving "superstar" for the next six years. Especially if the Leafs have to give up a plethora of first rounders (Kadri, Schenn, 2012 first rounder). No... let's develop our own homegrown talent.
