NieR: Automata |OT| "I wouldn't expect too much from this game if I were you."

Hmm, this might be a weird(wrong) place to ask, but does anyone have any good wallpaper art from the game? I'm so excited and avoiding spoilers but nothing is out there to temper my hype yet

I've been wondering this too. I thought there'd be a clean 1920x res of the japanese cover/banner out there but no luck

Check the Artworks Gallery in the OP - I did what I could to find the highest res versions I can find, so all it will take to make most of them a wallpaper is some cropping.

Anyone know if Amazon is having supply issues for this (like Ni-Oh)? There's no "release day guarantee" as far as I can tell.

Question! Location spoiler!

Where is Emil's house? It's not where he brings you after the Lunar Tear quest, is it?

It's deep underground as he says! I don't have the map on me right now. But there's a sewer pipe in the city ruins that you can leap into :not walk, like the flooded city entrance: that has an elevator that'll take you to the caves leading to his shack

Is it just me or is the English dub of this game really well done? I'm impressed at how good it sounds.

This game got me hyped. I usually hate these types of games but, this one is hyping me up so bad.

I'm not surprised. For whatever reason, Taro's games have had excellent dubs if I judge off of D3 and Nier.

I thought the dub was very good as well. Eve and 9S in particular were my favorites.

The splash image from the game.

Thanks everyone!

I didn't play the Japanese version of Nier or D3 but I do have a little theory that Taro's games SEEM to use less "nyahh nyahh uggu" speech than the average non FF JRPG and so it's easier to translate and then turn into colloquial English and direct the dub properly.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I think my only issue is (no story spoilers)
the overall openworld world map isn't so big. Maybe FFXV just spoiled me.

Hmm, lemme see if I can find it.

Also if anybody has more exact directions, that'd be most appreciated.

I don't regret having bought this game twice one fucking bit

Gonna dive into the NA release with as much fervor as the HK

Although truth be told, this is one of SE's best titles yet, even more so it's the best Yoko Taro title yet (I like Nier but the gameplay was clunky).

I may go back to old Nier, but in youtube format.

(I actually own the game but never played lol)

It's really hard for me to get into any kind of game if the actual game isn't up to snuff, to be honest.

Like, the philosophical (?) implications of the story in Automata are actually really interesting to me unlike say, something like Metal Gear Solid, which always just kinda seemed convoluted and based on someone opening a newspaper and looking for buzzwords having vaguely to do with current events in order to cobble together a script.

(that series really only reaches cool action movie I'd see over a Michael Bay film-tier, if I was to be frank... so it's on par with Tetsuo Araki's (Death Note, Attack on Titan) work as opposed to something I'd watch to actually think critically about various issues)

Even the points MGS 5 was trying to make about language or whatever felt kind blah, whereas even though I'm not completely sold on all the actual storytelling here (some scenes feel a bit 2edgy4 me), just the ideas behind everything are actually really interesting the more I'm exposed to the tidbits of story you experience here and there.

Like, there was this one quest where you have to escort a large group of
theme park robots trying to have a peace parade
...

In terms of gameplay, it's one of the worst quests I've experienced so far next to Speed Star in terms of what you have to do, but the NPC asking me in the end if I think that they're being stupid kinda punched me in the balls for whatever reason.

That's Taro's modus operandi. He's more than willing to make players uncomfortable to make a point.

Would someone be kind enough to tell which items are safe to sell? I haven't been able to play much and only just beat the 2nd boss. I do have a massive amount of items I picked but I see some are needed to upgrade the pod.

Is there a way to tell which items are for just selling?

Ending of all routes/document spoiler and just questions/wondering.

So according to the Machine Research Report, Jackass eventually caught on to everything that happened by the end of the game? Also since when did she become an Information Analysis Officer?? =0

Maybe, I think it had release day guarantee on the page last week, but I could be misremembering. Placed my order on Monday and it says the 21st so I hope it's just an error and that date gets changed to release day.

My Black Box Edition shipped from SE! Here's hoping I get it by release. It says 2-3 day shipping, but since I live in Canada I doubt I'll get it before the weekend. :(

And that's ending B. This game is so fantastic.

Quick question, I've done nearly all of the side quests so far, are the new ones that come up worth it? I think I remember someone saying that they're overall shorter

I personally don't do all side quests in most games I play, but I'm going for them all.

There's a lot of them with really cool stories/twists/reveals of small bits of world building and lore etc.

If you've been doing them up till now, I say it's worth it.

Okay cool I'll watch out for them. Only ones I haven't completed are the Speed Star, information on the old world, and the one with the machine who was deep in thought(I think?)

Also when I was playing as 2B I saw some side quest icons in the basement of the factory but I didn't have access to it. Are those exclusive for when I have chapter select or something?
