Nintendo needs to milk the hell out of HD remasters on Switch

Last time I heard, the motion controls on both Joy-Con were a step above what you can find in the Wii Remote, which was already very accurate imo.

They'd have to be a lot better than the Gyro aiming in Nintendo Land, because that was 100% a wrist killer.

I'd rather then milk new games that I haven't played yet.

Or better yet milk more 3rd party support because they're clearly missing that.

Naw, Nintendo already went Remaster crazy:

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
Star Fox 64 3D
Fire Emblem Gaiden Remaster

Fire Emblem is a full remake to the point where it's practically a new game.

This one nobody gets to complain about. The fanbase campaigned heavily for that port, and all Nintendo did was give them what they wanted.

Give me Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

I don't see the point of those, honestly, since Path of Radiance is so ugly in all respects that it wouldn't look much better and Radiant Dawn lacks support conversations and would be shunned by newer fans. Wait for the Echoes versions.

I'm just glad it'd be really hard to do a quick boring remaster of Skyward Sword for a console without wiimotes like they did for Twilight Princess. Ensures we won't see that game rear its head any time soon.

Joy-Cons dude.

What about tokyo mirage sessions? It's a great game on a dead console.

I would like to see this game in Switch.

The only remaster I want to see from Nintendo are the Xenoblade games. I want to play a crisp version of 1 on the go and maybe having X portable would make me come around to it.

Just give me the following:

Bayonetta 1/2 (or at least 2)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
Xenoblade Chronicles X

And we're golden. Add in a Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 HD and we're even sweeter. But primarily those three and I am so. far. IN.

I agree. I want a bunch of HD remasters and a robust Virtual Console. I'd like Switch to be the ultimate Nintendo device. I'm trying to get rid of clutter in my life and having one piece of hardware to play all my Nintendo games on, both in portable form and on my TV, would be great.

Just the thought of F-Zero GX HD on the Switch brings a tear to my eyes, it would actually make it the best console ever made for me right there and then.

I also like the Metroid Trilogy HD idea, that game will never get old and it's not like they're ever gonna give Metroid the budget again to make another great entry.

Personally I'd like to see Okami HD on the Switch as well, with the touchscreen it might become the best version of Okami yet. Someone call Capcom to get on this asap.

Yes. Yes yes yes. Go freaking nuts with them. The novelty of having awesome remasters that people probably even missed would be just incredible.

This'd make the system that much easier for me to skip. I own all of these games, having them look slightly prettier isn't going to be a selling point for me.

Granted, if they added an absolute ton of features or had the games sliced in price I might consider them, but I'd still vastly prefer new entries for these series.

I wouldn't entirely mind it, but I have to say...

I think it's kinda funny how people were bemoaning how the Switch would be nothing but a port machine at launch with all the rumors regarding Mario Kart 8, Splatoon and Smash 4 at the time...and now we have people saying they should go crazy with ports and remasters, lol.

Some people are super excited about buying games they already played, because they know exactly how good they are

can't relate, personally

Some of the GameCube/Wii era games would be cool. Metroid Prime is a given. Should lean more heavily on GameCube releases since not many people ever owned the GameCube.

Same reason to have plenty of Wii U ports to fill the gaps between releases, next to nobody owned a Wii U.

If the heavily rumoured GC VC is true, Nintendo may be hesitant remastering the likes of F-Zero GX, Paper Mario TTYD, etc.

If Wii remasters happen, I really want a Western release of a remastered Project Zero/Fatal Frame IV. Galaxies 1 and 2 are the no brainers though.

Also Fatal Frame 2 Wii would be nice as well, though i'd say go all out and do a fatal frame trilogy for it.

Uh, the joycons are basically perfect for a remaster of Skyward Sword.

With 13 million WiiUs sold they should bring as much of that catalogue as possible to the Switch. Of course no need to port the garbage ones ;)

And I'd love to get Metroid Trilogy HD.

Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2...

As long as the remake are handled by other companies, it's just bonus games on the system so I don't see why it would be bad.

How about it gets limited to Nintendo motion controls, then? VR has surpassed anything the Wii could do by light years, and the idea that the Joycons are going to be as satisfying to use in that respect as the Vive or Oculus motion controllers is ridiculous.

Do it state of the art or don't bother doing it. And the Joycons are not state of the art in that respect.
Are you sure? Because it looks like you're missing a couple of sensors there.

Btw, people complained about "waggle", but that's not all the Wii did. Implying that it was just that is a perfect example of silly, annoying internet shitposting.

Either way, JoyCons have nothing to do with that and HD Rumble is likely a lot better than whatever the other two (or at least oculus) have for feedback.

Have we heard anything about the claimed tracking accuracy of the Joy-Cons in comparison to WM+?
There was a post on reddit about an indie dev working on Switch stating that it's more like the vive wand than wiimote+ or ps move, but we don't know if it's true.

Back on topic: I'd be interested in all the hd remasters in the op, but for Xenoblade HD i hope they make an enhanced collection with 1+X. Both 1080p with enhanced textures, shadows and lighting.

People these days can't tell the difference between a remake and a remaster. Only 2 of those games are remastered.

Maybe... I wouldn't mind a lot of the Wii U games to become part of the Switch library, like Xenoblade X. Splatoon is already getting an update and release so don't need an HD of that, but a few titles would be great.

I'd be slightly more interested in a 3DS port of games to the system to play on the go - but the sounds of a 3DS successor makes that more unlikely...

Honestly, I'd just prefer for Sakurai to get his head out of the mud and just make the next Smash a proper successor to Melee gameplay wise instead of doing a cheap port and keeping the series and its fanbases divided forever. Give Smash its Mario Odyssey, I say (and this is someone who likes Smash 4).

Maybe it's the Melee fanbase who has their heads in the mud if they can't see that Sakurai is perfectly happy with the direction he is taking the series (accessible fighting game for everyone).

They have VC to port old games over. With 3DS going nowhere and mobile development popping up, I don't want too many resources devoted to remastering old games. I could care less if others haven't experienced them. That's their problem, not mine.

Let's get a new Metroid on this thing and make a decent Starfox game while keeping Miyamoto far away from it.

I'd definitely love it if Nintendo started producing a ton of HD remasters. Not so much the classic games, but definitely N64 onward. It's a shame we didn't see more of this on the 3DS because the 64 remakes on there all look amazing.

Some people..
I, for One, would just want Nintendo to stay away from remaster and keep pumping new games...
I might be selfish, but i've already played them, so from my pov, a remaster would be the same soup...
I want new games or new ip...
We already get annual franchise milking, so asking for remaster too, is a bit of an overkill..
I want devs to amaze me with glorious new games, not devs to put frills on old (but good) game that most of us have already experiencied in the not so distant past even...

Well apparently, Nintendo's NERD studio (responsible for NES mini emulation) got it to work for Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, and Smash Bros Melee.

This is all according to Eurogamer's Tom Philips regarding a GCN VC on Switch.
You shouldn't make assumptions based on rumors. It just leads to wild speculation and often to disappointment.

It's not like Nintendo's big names would be working on those remasters. That's what port houses exist for. It's a win-win for all parties.

And Nintendo isn't really known for "annual franchise milking", is it.
