You don't need the "Only on Playstation" logo when you have no competition.

I almost spilled my coffee.

Ok, someone. Please god help me.

I start up the game. Doing the settings thing, PS4 spits disc out. Put Disc back in. Get into menu. Go to options. Oh my god everything is in japanese. Restart again. Still Japanese.

Oh my god. I know some japanese, but none of this fucking says 日本語 as far as I fucking know. I have no fucking idea what to do. My system language is set to english even.

FUCKING THANK GOD FIXED IT. HAD TO DELETE SAVE DATA. IT'S ALL GOOD.

Game looks fantastic but I hate super difficult games. Is it really that hard?
I'm not that great at many games and don't pride myself of being a skillful player lol. I've beaten all Souls games, Ninja Gaiden & DMC games at my own pace. The beta got me hooked like no other game because the combat is so damn deep, satisfying/fun to play, and you get rewarded as much time as you put in. I think the game is challenging but the good kind of challenging where you are rewarded if you are observant, patient, and learn from your mistakes. It is incredibly satisfying to play once you have the mechanics down.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not a fan of the souls games or even Bloodborn but this game looks to be scratching that itch for me, I need something different to play. I know I'll die a lot but I'm willing to learn and be patient.

Can anyone with a Classic PS4 and Nioh let me know how it looks at 60 fps versus 30? Is it worth loosing the 1080p for 60 fps?

try uninstalling it and delete the save in case it saved some weird settings?

If the last chance demo is anything like the final game, they both work at what they are supposed to do and are good experiences.

1080p is good as a res and the 30fps is solid with no framepacing. 60fps is also solid, 720p is masked by the darker nature of the visuals

Can you change this mid save game or only at the start?

Anytime you go to the menu and switch the mode it will reflect in game. Only time it doesnt show is in cut-scenes where movie mode is automatically applied

As much as I'd love to do all of my gaming on the PC, I just don't see this coming over. Maybe there would have been a chance if it hadn't reviewed so well, but now that every outlet is raving about it Sony will definitely make it a permanent feather in their cap.

There's a reason why Demon's Souls is still a PS3 exclusive.

Oh thank god it's fixed. I still am scared my PS4 will explode though with hot weird it's sounding.

Yeah, I decided to go with that. The save was even in Japanese as Nioh Game Settings or something like that.

Deleting the save and restarting let the initial settings runthrough come up again. This time it was English again as it was the first time before the disc popped out and somehow fucked everything.

During the beta I really preferred the 60fps. And according to digital foundry, it's super stable this time too.
That said, if you really can't handle 720p anymore (I'm used to it thanks to my wiiu lel), I don't think many people would blame you. That's why there's a mode.

edit:

Which PS4 do you have? I and many other people had some issue in the past with discs ejecting on their own, it can be easily fixed on the ones with capacitive eject/power buttons (unlike the revisions afterwards)

I think you might enjoy it and hopefully it'll scratch that itch for you. You already seem to know what you're in for and willing to learn/be patient. You'll do just fine in Nioh. :)

Just got a tracking number from Best Buy, their site said it would be delivered today, I guess we'll see if that's true. Hype levels are off the charts!

Also I plan to play in action mode for sure on OG PS4. Those delicious frames.

Love the title since its also the primary piece of advice for this game I've seen in previews and reviews.

So damn close to biting on this.

Which means I'm probably biting on this.

60fps is golden. But even fights against the weakest enemies look more involved. Co-op seems more developed and better thought through as well.

Edit: Bit on this.

Wow, at the title change. Gotta say it is for the best, hopefully OP listens on Nier since he/she is doing that one as well and has some more weird ideas that no one will understand.

I went ahead and preordered. I am out of town until Thursday so I will be way behind. Looking forward to hearing the impressions of the second boss because it sounds like that one is the first wall of the game.

getting itchy trigger finger on adding the Digital Deluxe to my cart before the game is released on PSN. are most of the goodies just cosmetic or will the stats help me out?

i might just wait on the season pass though.

ffuuuuuuuu

OP needs to look at OTs like these and either up the quality or pass it on to someone else.

The fact that mcz117chief picked up both Nioh & Nier OTs makes me look forward to Nier's OT even more muahaha. Putting in that werk!

Beat both of today's Twilight mission, hell yeah. Among them the infamous "worst boss ever I'm gonna sell this game it's not my fault her stuff is undodgeable" second level. Game is soooo good man. Getting a feeling for the flux (changing stance along with regenerating Ki) is one of the single best things I'v ever done and tried to master in a video game. My muscle memory is still not quite there yet but I'm getting there and my moves are looking increasingly more stylish and effective. Remember when you guys finally understood Metal Gear Rising's parry? That's essentially how this is.

Also, it might be just me but I heavily recommend going light on armor. I'm playing mostly high/mid stance spear with A level agility. No need for defense when you are too elusive to get hit. A level agility drains Ki very slowly which gives you so much more freedom in fights, you people gotta try it. I used to just equip the shit with the highest numbers and the game just got so much easier when I realized I could rely on my skills over my equipment. Not sure how I missed that.

In understood that reference :D

Does anybody have a link to noob who opened an OT and filled it with a useless one-liner along the lines of "this is the OT, discuss"? One of the funniest threads I've seen on GAF. Don't remember which game it was sadly.
