This game is fun as shit. The story and world design are obviously a huge step down from Souls, but I think placing it in the "real world" was a smart way to make up for it and story/atmosphere obviously isn't the real point like it is in Souls anyway. Was breezing through until I found Shrek in that house, then died trying to get a rematch.

Fuck this game.

Not just you it is absolutely much easier for the first few areas. Others have said it ramps up after that though. I haven't gotten far enough to confirm that yet.

Sorry I meant they just gave them all to everyone. Including the twilight mission rewards. Not a big deal but a little dissapointing.

First area and all its missions are super easy. I stopped leveling up and am holding 17 lvs worth of souls going into the next region. Hopefully it gets harder

I think only the Conquerer is free though, which is the Alpha-stage boss mask. The other two rewards weren't put on PSN the same way and weren't part of the Conquerer download. I don't think? I have them through legit means though playing the three trials.
 
Quick question guys, I selected Katana and Spear as my two preferred weapons but I'm thinking of switching Katana to Dual Katanas.

1) Is this a good combo?

and 2) how much will I be punished for not using the weapon I selected at the start?
 
Well this is annoying, I didn't receive Nioh Armor DLC, even tho I'm supposed to, I got Sanada's Armor, all beta/alpha helmets, but not this one, and worst thing is, it says it's downloaded and activated, yet I don't have it. WTF :x

Eh Katana + Dual Katana is a bit redundant for my tastes. Much better to have a secondary weapon that really compliments your primary by way of providing something it doesnt ie a spear for greater reach or an axe for heavy single blows.
 
Question: Does the Dodge have invincibility frames or no? Seems like I can get clipped by a swinging spear while dodging. Or perhaps you're not invincible for the whole of the Dodge?

I've only tried arcade right now. Need to try movie to see if I can tell the difference. I don't have a 4K tv so not sure if it will be noticeable.

It does but its a very very narrow window. Significantly smaller window that what you would expect in a souls game for example. So in order to utilize the I frames you really have to practice the just in time dodge.
 
Just beat the boat boss with no elixirs left on my third try. My heart was racing at the end there. I think I'm finally getting why so many people love these challenging games!

I thought that might be the case. Have to get used to how it works here. Hell, I still occasionally press circle to dodge. Need to unlearn some things. Thanks!
 
Anyone else playing on a sub-account? I am running into an issue while playing on a sub-account, it won't let me get online!

Just beat the first boss but i would really hate to start over on my main account just to get the online features. I can't summon anyone, and or get online.
 
Beat the ship boss, I'm very much on board with this game.
Chose Axes and Dual Katanas as the mains under the idea they'd cover each others weaknesses but I just ain't digging the dual, axes will always serve me well though.
Might just go for cookie cutter Sword as the backup.
 
I tried playing at 30 fps and couldn't do it I need that 60fps goodness I'm really glad there's different options for what people prefer

While I'm sure its selling much better than expected it also seems to have been terribly undershipped with many big outlets getting one or two copies and others getting none at all. It's a shame if it had been properly stocked I have no doubt it could have sold substantially more copies but what can you do.

Not the whole dodge, and it also depends on which stance your roll in.
Niohs hitboxes can be pretty awful, so expect some random bullshit from time to time.

As per my question before, do we get penalised for switching weapons from the ones we chose at the start much?

Greatswords are about the only thing that could pull me away from the dual sword life.

Giant hammers have the same moveset as axes but appear to hit a bit harder at the cost of speed and Ki usage. That could just be the loot I've found though.

No there is no penalty for using other weapons. Basically your choices in the beginning give you a bonus point to the primary stat for the weapons you chose. Thats the only effect as far as I can tell. So feel free to switch around to whatever weapons you want.

Its different for everyone I think but if you listen to what the amrita corpse nearby syas they eliminate one of the three gesture types. All the walls will have an amrita corpse nearby to do this and since you get two guesses it should guarantee you will be successful since its only by type not individual gesture as long as you pay attention.
