No JP voice track in Xenoblade Chronicles 3D

If it's anything like XBC's dub then that's not really the worst thing that can happen to the Western release.
Some people are going to get mad, even if the dub is incredible well done. Honestly, I don't mind purists but I do not like when they start bashing games with good localization and voice acting...

That's to be expected, given the size of a 3DS cart. While you do end up missing some fun performances from Norio Wakamoto and Jouji Nakata, you do get some nice British accents in exchange. You can't go wrong with either voice track, really.

One of my genuine fears is that Treehouse or even 8-4 will handle the XCX dub

yes, even though it's a game about an American spaceship crashlanding on an alien planet, I still want British VA

Hey, it's set in the future - who's to say we Brits didn't recolonise the place between now and the start of XCX. And I'm still holding out for the discovery of Neo Basildon halfway through the game.

Riki English voice went totally the opposite direction of the original Japanese version, so it cannot be perfect.

you are operating under the assumption that the original Japanese version is perfect

maybe the dub is better

it happens sometimes

I'm outraged. Unlike some of you in this thread I've seen over three animes so I know that Japanese voice acting is ALWAYS better than the pleb English "voice acting" today. Anyone who thinks otherwise clearly knows nothing about games, anime or Japanese culture and should probably stop gaming.

slightly amateur? what? anyone with working ears knows Xenoblade has a fantastic dub that puts a lot of games' voice work to shame.

I wouldn't call it petty necessarily. It can degrade the experience alot for some purists who prefer to play it in its original intended language but in this case since it has a decent dub it's not that bad but you can't claim good dubs are the norm with these type of games since more often than not they are bad, that's why some people would prefer these games to have dual audio as much as possible to be on the safe side.

"EDGY" "petty"

Pretty mean.

I thought they were passing up the game entirely which IS pretty petty to me. But Ansatz clarified he played the Wii version already and that it's just his preference for the 3DS version and that's fine by me.

Basically this for me. There's also people who pass on perfectly good games entirely JUST because the English release is dub only.

I guess that'll teach you to not make snap judgements about posts then?

Here's how you could have worded it:
"Don't let the lack of JPN dub be the reason to play this fantastic game!"

Please let us turn off the inane battle chatter. Please. For the love of Iwata.

Nintendo just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Otaku culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw over an Otaku, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the Otaku, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Xenoblade for either 3DS or Wii U, nor will they purchase any of Nintendo's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Nintendo has alienated an entire market with this move.

Nintendo, publicly apologize and give Xenoblade for 3DS a free dub DLC or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Thought this was about Xenoblade X, and was happy since what I heard of the JP dub was horrendous.

Am gonna miss the British VA. I doubt they can use them again since it'd be odd to have Brits in "New LA"

Thank you.

We've come full circle.

lol I love this

Lets face it, without the British VA the sequel is a game that will have double the content yet half the heart of its predecessor.
Whatever villains it has will not compare to the ramblings of Metal Face.

Well, it would be nice to get the JP track via DLC or something. Don't see why not. Let me choose for myself. =)

English (British) Voice cast, is worth it

Sharla... did... did you see what I did?

The only time I've enjoyed English voices over Japanese is with Bayonetta, despite numerous assurances that the English vocal tracks were good.

I'm not trying to be obstinate or anything, it's just that the vast majority of english voice tracks annoy the heck out of me, had to play Persona 4 Golden muted as well.

Why would I want to play my games with an inferior language like English?

Good, the JPN voices were garbage. Dunban in particular is so bad in Japanese and doesn't fit his character at all.

I now understand how mind-boggled some of the fans of the English dub feel about this thread's detractors

He's one of the highlights of the Japanese track. wut

Does it offer the ability to mute voices during battles because I switched over to Japanese just to never hear the bunch of jokers line ever again.

lol I love this

This never gets old
I live to serve.
