Are you thinking of The Last Story?
Yea, I guess I am. My bad. In that case it sounds like I might be better off getting the Wii one.

Nintendo just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Otaku culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw over an Otaku, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the Otaku, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Xenoblade for either 3DS or Wii U, nor will they purchase any of Nintendo's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Nintendo has alienated an entire market with this move.
Nintendo, publicly apologize and give Xenoblade for 3DS a free dub DLC or you can kiss your business goodbye.
This never gets old.Nintendo just shot themselves in the foot.

??? This sentence don't make sense... what original and what redone?the dub for the original was so atrocious that I was forced to use JP voices, but it sounds like they've redone it
What is this madnessThere are times when the English dub is superior to the original Japanese (Persona 4), but with Xenoblade Chronicles is exactly the opposite, the Japanese original voices are the better ones (by far)

One of my genuine fears is that Treehouse or even 8-4 will handle the XCX dub
yes, even though it's a game about an American spaceship crashlanding on an alien planet, I still want British VA
Fuck that. USA! USA!

The English dub is amazing. Can't believe people hate it
A lot of people in here who aren't really feeling it.
Does the 3DS port add anything, though? There's one omission that smarts a little, with the Japanese voice track that accompanied the Wii version entirely absent. In its place is the fully localised, fully voiced English dialogue, complete with the slightly amateurish, totally charming voice work that Nintendo has lent its RPGs in recent history. It's the sole compromise that seems to have been made with this port.
Amateurish is the last thing I'd call the voice acting in that game. I actually thought it (along with the soundtrack) were the game's two biggest strengths. Also, I don't really understand the idea of playing the game with foreign language voiceovers. They may even be god-awful, but you'd never know unless you spoke the language yourself.
Riki's dub voice doesn't match him like at all.you are operating under the assumption that the original Japanese version is perfect
maybe the dub is better

it just so happens Xenoblade and FFXII have my favorite game dubs.I never knew there was hate for it until this thread. It was a great dub with loads of character and imo it's up there with the FFXII dub.
But the Xenoblade British dub was AWFUL. Monolith Soft seems to have a bad track record of bad VO, though, with Baten Kaitos before it, so I'm not exactly hopeful that American voice acting would be significantly better.Truth.
British VAs are more pleasant to the ears, and tend to give consistently better performances than American VAs.
Also, British accents seem appropriate in Fantasy/Sci-fi settings, after JP of course.

I'm not going to quote every disagreeing post, but you can't "lol nope" an opinion
I wouldn't call it petty necessarily. It can degrade the experience alot for some purists who prefer to play it in its original intended language

Did even the North American release of Xenoblade on Wii have the Japanese voice track?
"Purists" play a game with voice and text in the original language so that they can make their own determinations of the initial intended meaning. Putting on a voicetrack you don't understand is just an affectation.
I liked the English dub in general except for Riki. I'll also miss Norio Wakamoto.
I actually had no idea the Wii release included the JP track. That actually makes the game much more enticing to me as I'm studying Japanese. Do we know if the Wii U game will be dual audio?
I now understand how mind-boggled some of the fans of the English dub feel about this thread's detractors
He's one of the highlights of the Japanese track. wut
