The game looks...not as "better" as I thought it would be, really.

I expected a remake, not a resolution bump.

The visuals are much more than a resolution bump. It looks really good.

do you guys think this is worth importing or wait and see if someone will actually bring it stateside?

Good question. Is there really a big enough market for it on the 360 to bring it stateside? I mean, as much of a dismissal as Wii titles get from 360 and PS3 players, how many 360 players would even be interested?

don't think you 360 players have to worry, to my knowledge there is no region free release of the 360 version

I'm more interested in the PS3 version

Personally I've never played the original so I immediately pre-ordered the PS3 version. I can't wait any longer and the uncertainty of a publisher bringing this stateside worries me given the general disinterest.

The PS3 version is censored, though.

Sadly yes. I can't afford to buy a Japanese 360 though.

The censoring didn't stop at the blood; there's a couple of deaths in the game that are ruined thanks to it, particularly Holly Summers.

wait, who?

I've never played it on the Wii

Oh.

Well, the gist of it is that there's a couple of deaths in the game that are meant to be quite brutal in their execution. Because of the censoring, though, they're rendered in a rather goofy way that drains those moments of all of their dramatic tension.

If it gets a Western release I can't imagine the PS3 version staying censored.

No doubt about it, but that requires someone to pick it up in the first place :-/

A better comparison:

Yeah, the Wii shot is grabbed horribly (the game looks much better) and the PS360 one has the wrong aspect ratio, but I didn't make the pic.

I can actually tell what the tattoo on death metal's back is..before it was too much of a blur for me to make out all the details

hmm well this is difficult then

either import it and get a censored release or wait and possibly not get it at all

reason being is I have a friend who has preordered it via Amazon Japan (he has a friend that lives in Japan or something) and offered to get a second copy for me if I wanted it

apparently it'd be about $50 and comes with some sorta artbook so pretty tempting

I think it's going to come down to how much extra content there ends up being and what they would price it at. I can't imagine they'd be able to get away with charging $60 for a port of a 2-year-old game, but this gen has been nothing if not full of unpleasant surprises.

The aspect ratio is off but the pics a bit clearer.

I noticed that on the translated achievement list, there's one for making a save on every toilet in the game. :lol :lol :lol

Sweet, Nakai is the Japanese voice for Travis. Ronora Zoro, Date Masamune, Mugen, now Travis Touchdown ... Nakai is always playing awesome roles.

WHOA WAIT! Does this game have a English text option? I might import it if so.

Is there any confirmation of dual audio in the 360 version or at least english subtitles?

thanks

Demonstrations of the game had English VA enabled, so that's a good sign for dual audio. Not so certain is the presence of dual subs, which could go either way.

So there's no Western release for this, correct? Meaning that if I want to pick up the game, I would have to import it from somewhere like playasia?

The only thing we know for sure is that Ubi Soft will not be publishing it in the west.

Right, that's what it says on the wiki. Any word whether some other publisher picked it up in the West?

I played the hell out of the first game as well.

Overall, I prefer NMH 2 over the original. I will say that the original game does a better job of fleshing out some of the bosses, the selection of clothing is better, there's weapon upgrades and a better ending. Also, searching for dumpsters for cash and t-shirts was strangely addictive and being able to unlock concept art was a decent reward for replaying the game a second time.

The sequel just has better pacing (but a few levels can drag on too long), better music, a far more convenient mission structure and overworld map system, and way better mini games. Plus, the new finisher moves and the tiger transformation are pretty cool.

Using the analogue sticks to finish them off and throwing them is probably the only thing that irks me about this, I would so buy this for PS3 if it wasn't uncensored.

That new footage looks A LOT better than previous clips. It would appear that the nasty tearing is gone and the framerate appears to be locked at this point. Of course, they haven't shown how it performs in the Santa Destroy bits, so that could still be a disaster. :lol

The Santa Destroy bits were the worst part of the game by quite a lot anyway, so it's not like those parts being any worse are going to hurt the pacing even more.

After playing NMH2 with a standard controller....

It boggles my mind why anyone would want to play this, morbid curiosity aside.

Already pre-ordered for my Japanese 360. It will only be dispatched together with Ketsui, however, plus the usual mail times, I will only be playing it in the mid-May.

They enjoy pushing analog sticks for the kills.

Because it doesn't actually make a significant difference?
