So says kyodo, yonhap, etc.

North Korea has fired what appears to be a ballistic missile, Japanese and South Korean sources say, less than a month after the country's second long-range missile test. Only few details were immediately available. (more)

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/25/nor...rojectile-off-its-east-coast-report-says.html

North Korea has fired an unidentified projectile into the sea off its east coast, Yonhap news agency reported on Saturday citing South Korea's military.

This is breaking news. Please check back for updates.

I wonder if they intentionally launched now because of our looming Hurricane Harvey crisis.

Watching CNN, and apparently, the U.S. and South Korea (or Japan?) are conducting joint military exercises and this might be North Korea essentially running off at the mouth again.

EDIT: South Korea. Not Japan.

As of yesterday the US was flying two "cobra ball" ballistic missile detectors around Japan so I guess it was expected.

CNBC source now says it was several short range projectiles, only flew a couple hundred miles. Maybe a mod should change the title since it sounds fairly mundane as far as NK behavior.
