You are the one having to justify running SLI and I assume owning a 680 ^^
I'm not bitter, what do I have to be bitter about. I have no rationalisation to do to avoid buyer's remorse.
Also I game on a crt monitor at 85 hz with vsync off, I'm well familiar with input lag and I lower my settings in games until I get that framerate. My ancient GPU may be dated now but it still has 60 percent of the performance of a gtx 680, so not that ancient (and twice the performance/dollar).
If you can't tell an extra16 ms input lag when why don't you lock your framerate at 30 fps to begin with. This is what I'm talking about when I say chump, trumpetting about pc gaming in every topic while apparently being unable to appreciate the benifits you trumpet about , or noticing when they aren't there.
Explaining how prices were jacked up due to a lack of competition makes me bitter now or gives me some kind of agenda?
I think you are a chump and I'm going to leave it at that, not worth getting banned over putting someone in their place.
As I said in my first post, I didn't expect people to respond reasonably to uncomfortable truths, they never do, you are living proof in this case.
I'm not justifying a single thing, you on the other hand are desperately trying to justify why you won't be running SLI and why everyone running SLI are 'chumps', which in my world is some kind of bitter attack or something else bothering you. The fact that you deny being bitter yet keep coming back to the thread, trying to shit on everyone that actually can afford this stuff and you're slowly getting more and more immature about it.
The fact that you compare 16ms of input lag with locking at 30FPS makes my head hurt, where are you getting this from? Are you just pulling random statements from thin air? It's obvious beyond anything you have never seen an SLI setup in action and the fact that your whizzing little head comes off when someone mentions a single frame of input lag per GPU in SLI. I could sit you down on 4 random computers, one of them running an SLI setup and offer you one million dollars to find the computer running SLI by purely playing a game and you wouldn't notice in a billion years.
The prices would be jacked up no matter what, the 8800 Ultra price was jacked up and you know why? Because they are NOT aimed at the common man. They are limited edition ( so to speak ) enthusiast cards aimed at people who would gladly pay $900 for the performance no matter how competitive the market is - These cards will be sold. This is not a damn mainstream card that people who are tight need to worry about, it's not even in their stratosphere. It's like Ford Mondeo owners starting to bitch over the price of the Ford GT. It's not aimed at them, don't worry about, drive your Mondeo and shut up.
The fact that you constantly return to the thread, to re-establish your point over and over again as why everyone are chumps and have to quote the 2-3 people with the same narrowminded train of thought as you, just to say "OMG UR RIGHT!" is pathetic - Why are you here if you genuinely have nothing to add? You keep thinking you're holding the magic stick of truth and everything you say is just the burning bush in the desert, the epitome we need to worship and follow.
The card is not aimed at you, it's not a mainstream card, people spend big bucks on hobbies and there's PLENTY of cards available for people who are looking to spend less or get a better price / performance ratio. Buy those and stop pestering everyone who can afford this stuff.
