Unless there's going to be stories that show a pattern of Neville refusing to job and just being generally unprofessional then I'm going to refrain from thinking he walked just because he has a fragile ego. Dude was in 205 Live hell and dudes in that little pocket might as well not exist if they're not in the title picture. Maybe he was promised a return to the main roster and they reneged. Maybe he was told there was a program until the mornimg of and they said they changed their minds. Maybe he just hates Enzo. Who knows, hopefully we'll find out soon enough.

And yeah Hollywood actors "refuse to job" all the time, often for the same exact reason their carnie brethren do.

Completely forgot about the YL Cup.

Should be a good watch tonight?

Yup, it was a pretty enjoyable show - the young lion cup matches were all good bouts, but match of the night was Nagata vs Daisuke Kanehira from HEAT UP. Fun TenKoji match as well.

Looks like the next show's gonna have Kojima vs Yuma Aoyagi and Nakanishi vs Dinosaur Takuma!

I love that they've taken a shine to Dinosaur for these small shows. Such a random and seemingly out of place presence in NJPW. A welcome out of place presence!

Pre-Show Match
giancarlo123x vs sf2fanatic

The #1 contender for the GWF World Championship called out giancarlo123x for a tune up match. The front office might be questioning things going forward if sf2fanatic loses this match.

Fatal Four Way
NeoGAF Vince McMahon Sunnybuns vs BronsonLee vs imBask vs klonere

Sunny Mac is back! After making his dramatic return from the Punkverse, NeoGAF Vince McMahon Sunnybuns is setting foot in a GWF ring for the first time since GWF1. Standing in his way are WrassleGAF staples imBask, klonere, and BronsonLee.

Triple Threat Match
OwensIsNow vs Mahonay vs Excelsiorlef

Three GWF superstars are going to have the opportunity to grab the brass ring and receive their first win in GWF competition!

Singles Match
Recall vs Heroman

GWF's unofficial hoss champion squares off against one half of the New Japan Express as Heroman looks to make a singles career push.

Singles Match
Ithil vs SomewhatGroovy

One of the last undefeated wrestlers in GWF, SomewhatGroovy, takes on Ithil, a man who has a pretty impressive win/loss record in GWF himself. This match could have a ripple effect in the title picture in the future given the winning percentage among the participants.

Hardcore Match
Biggest-Geek-Ever vs Zach

To the shock of everyone, Zach had lust in his eyes when he tried to take the glory for himself at GWF8 by breaking up his own partner's pin attempt. The end result was that the Huggers of Destruction imploded upon losing the GWF Tag Team Championships, and now are gunning for each other. The rulebook is being thrown out the window for this hardcore match.

GWF World Championship Singles Match
BewareTheBatsie vs Professor Beef [C]

At GWF7, Professor Beef shocked the world and took the GWF Championship off of the previously undefeated Beefy. Following his win, Professor Beef offered a championship opportunity to one of GWF's greatest merchandise sellers - BewareTheBatsie. Will #SnitchLyfe triumph again or will the champ GIVE UP in his first title defense?

BONUS NOTE: The winner of BewareTheBatsie vs Professor Beef will defend the GWF Championship against sf2fanatic at GWF 10

God damn, this man flu has left me legit shook for two days now.

Since sleep was out of the question, I hit up a random combo of matches on the network that I'd never seen before.
Big Match John vs Big Dave at Summerslam 08 and War Games with the Dangerous Alliance vs the Sting Squadron.

War games left me so confused trying to grasp the rules even with like three slideshow panels of explanation, I never did quite figure out if the match could end before all the participants were in (because I'm pretty sure Steamboat was tapping at one point).
It will never stop being weird to me watching Austin as a non brawler with some ever so slightly flippy dippy stuff going on.
I also finally got to see where that one Dangerous Alliance entrance gif came from.

BronsonLee should be banned from the competition for getting banned here, make this a Triple Threat

you know they say that all men are created equal, but you look at me and you look at Sunny and you can see that statement is not true. See, normally if you go one on one with another wrestler, you got a 50/50 chance of winning. But I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal! So you got a 25%, AT BEST, at beat me. Then you add klonere to the mix, your chances of winning drastic go down. See the 3 way, at GWF, you got a 33 1/3 chance of winning, but I, I got a 66 and 2/3 chance of winning, because klonere KNOWS he can't beat me and he's not even gonna try!

So Sunny, you take your 33 1/3 chance, minus my 25% chance and you got an 8 1/3 chance of winning at GWF. But then you take my 75% chance of winning, if we was to go one on one, and then add 66 2/3 per cents, I got 141 2/3 chance of winning at GWF. See Sunny, the numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for you at GWF.

Yeah, their "refuse to job" = not getting the job. You do what the folks in charge say you do.

I agree that there's got to be more to it with Neville, because that's incredibly unprofessional and baby-tier to walk out of your job. You fuck over the writers, the other talent, everyone involved in any sort of angle. Yes, wrasslin' adapts - and when people walk out or get injured, the business adapts, but it's akin to not showing up for your shift at work. It does fuck others, too.

Pollock did an immaculate job on review a smackdown explaining why it makes all the sense in the world for Neville, and other cruiserweights, to seek work outside of the urine soaked hell hole known as WWE.

it's a golden age for independant wrestling. ibushi and zsj saw the writing on the wall during the cwc, everyone else was a wwe mark and look where they are now.

I agree with Sunny that walking out the day of a show is childish, even if the wrestler's reasoning is justified. Stone Cold still maintains that jobbing to Brock was a bad call but also says that walking out was a terrible decision

LOL if I worked for the WWE I wouldn't put too much concern behind workplace decorum. There's no doubt in my mind the place is riddled with unprofessionalism so a dude walking out is par for the course.

I'm not gonna shed a tear for a company that has no oversight for JBL while decrying a guy no showing before he quits.

The highest paid, cushiest contract in the WWE is held by a man who walked out of multiple companies, once with an actual, physical belt.

austin's just trying not to stir the pot. he was right to walk out, everyone knows he was right to walk out when presented with such bullshit creative besides vkm.

Also for a company that A. has repeatedly busted unions B. fought regulation early on in their history and C. views their workers as contractors

This isn't a case of a forgotten wrestler who hasn't wrestled in ages (Hi Ascension! It was nice seeing you on SD this week!) just walking out, with no impact. Neville was the figurehead of 205 Live for quite some time. It's a big deal.

So I'm sure there's much more to it. Neville was treated great, from a booking perspective.

Austin pretty regularly calls WWE out though, don't see why for this one thing he would lie to save face.

There are certain people who believe conspiracy theories that WWE has far more power than they actually do, so it explains their narrative.

That's not PG, we prefer pee pee soaked heck hole.

I think it's worth people going to the E to check it off their wrasslin' bucket list and see if it actually goes well for them, but also that they should be ready to bail out sharpish if it appears they're just gonna flounder around with no direction.

On that note, sometimes I wonder why Hero returned.

Austin walked out, and by time he came back, he had literally one month of wrestling left in him.

Yeah, I'm sure he has no regrets at all and him calling it a mistake to leave is a huge act.

I don't think he wants to go out there on his podcast, where he speaks to young talent regularly, and glorify walking out on the company

it's not really saving face, it's more him just being the bigger man and trying to handle the whole situation with class. no matter how right he was it would be kinda weird if he came out and said "SON I WALKED OUT THAT SUM BITCH AND GAH DANG I'D DO IT AGAIN. NOT DIGGIN THE CREATIVE VINCE. GONNA GO HUNT SOME DAMN BUCK NOW"

Really was a shame Austin walked out and had so little left when he came back.

Who?

Oh Lesnar

Yeah, as well as the lawsuit that Seph mentioned.

Title was vacated due to Lesnar being unable to defend it because of "problems with a working visa." Lesnar refused to turn over the championship belt, and later was recognized by the Inoki Genome Federation as their first champion, using the same belt.

That belt then ended up being on the line during a Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle "All the Belts" match in TNA because Angle won it in IGF. The Nakamura beat Angle to finally get it back, 2 years later.

Wrestling.

Im loving all the commentary on the TYB/WWE and firings, plus how Neville is wrong for walking out

Flip flopping on how evil WWE is wonderful to watch

They're not 100% evil or 100% great. Every situation is different. Even WrassleGAF is different. We have some posters thinking WWE is bad for engaging in philanthropy and PR at the same time. It's a net positive.
