Oculus special press event thread | Step into the Rift | June 11th 10am PDT

Maybe the end of VR...

that hyperbole is crazier than today's press event.

it's like, i'd still be laughing at anyone who thought that hdtvs would fail, in 2003, because they didn't have a lot of meaningful support, in 2003, and were expensive, in 2003
cuz technology, technology never changes

Maybe the end of VR...

Where did all the money go? They couldn't develop a VR exclusive controller?

Don't know why people ask for this, I in no way want to play with some Wii controllers and wave my hands around. I just want to sit in my couch with the rift on my face and a controller in my hands and be immersed, not running around my apartment with weird controllers in my hands looking like a fool.

10 million dollar Ouya fund.

This entire conference is a fucking disaster.

This press conference must be so awkward for everyone involved.

So much promise from a device and yet they don't have anything to show for it.

Missed like 20 minutes because the computer I was watching on has automatic updates enabled.

I did catch Harmonix on that list of devs though, cool!

I guess this is why Valve went with their own VR solution, they got wind of Occulus's complete MS integration and noped out of that partnership.

I'm still interested in Occulus if they are not using some type of app store and it is an open platform.

I suspect the focus on third person camera games instead of first person games is because FPV... causes motion sickness, while third person games is more manageable, your brain interprets it as you are the camera.

Harmonix is listed I believe for this "Music VR" experience they have, used it at PAX East.

Had different virtual worlds you select and songs, listen to the song as you are on rails going through this world.

I think the implication is that Oculus Rift is delivery is underwhelming compared to what Vive is. Kind of tend to agree with that. What was that Xbox One virtual cinema. So many things wrong with that I don't know where to start.

Exactly what's wrong with it?

Live in a place without a large TV? Use Oculus.

Live in a place with limited space and no room for a large setup?(Dorm or small bedroom) Use Oculus.

Want to play Xbox but someone else is hogging the TV? Use Oculus.

Traveling and want to just be able to lay in bed and play some games like at home? Use Oculus.

Just don't want to invest in a TV setup but want a living room experience? Use Oculus.

There is a huge application for being able to make anywhere a living room for gaming.

I love minigames.

Actually I wish Konami would revive Hyper Sports and Combat School.

Reading the comments on the Twitch stream is basically killing my faith in humanity. Vermin.

They explicitly stated they will be talking about 3D input methods later in the conference.

That hockey one could be a ton of fun. I'm actually really interested in what people have come up with for launch.

On a side note, this VR home stuff is pretty cool.
