The very symbol represents genocide. People endorsing it are either willfully ignorant of that fact or happy to associate themselves with it. Nazisim is a threat by its very existence and should be extinguished.
Are you sure you're against Nazism? Because you want to exterminate other people for their ideas. Kinda like what the Nazis did, no?

The time for debate with Nazis ended with the Final Solution.

If we're talking about actual Nazis. I give no fucks about debating with them.
Once again, you're spouting beliefs that are very Nazi like.
You don't believe all humans have a right to free speech? You believe some people are less than human and should be "extinguished" rather than debate them.

Instead, WHY DON'T YOU DEBATE THEIR BELIEFS INSTEAD OF VIOLENTLY ASSERTING YOURSELF OVER THEM?
Nah, fuck that.

Proteus is using a specific example here "they are actively displaying the swastika on their sleeve and endorsing Nazisim in a public forum".

In that instance, to hell with debate, they deserve to be boxed in the head.

Legit Neo-Nazis are the lowest of the low and if someone wants to batter the shite out them? Good.

Feelings over facts.

Why are you so scared to debate them? The fact you want to violently assault someone for wearing a symbol, is ironically, Nazi like yourself.

Free speech is free speech. It is not a crime to be born with a brain and have your own opinions. Murdering people over this is exactly no different from hating on the people you don't like.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Thats precisely it. I dont think any civilized person today would ever think of liking and supporting a Nazi, let alone be one. But the insistence on labeling a person as a nazi / racist just as easy as one changes underwear is one of the principal motives of this awful political drama we have today, wich seems to be 'destroying' human interaction even on the most basic levels and thats crazy.
Yeah, that's the key distinction that MUST be made and yet is not made by so many people.

A "Nazi" isn't "someone who watches Jordan Peterson videos" or "someone who think Rey is a Mary Sue" or even "someone who supports Gamergate".

I mean, do we even have Nazi's in modern times? I thought the appropriate term was "Neo-Nazi".

They can easily be identified and usually are eager to identify themselves anyway.

The people in ResetEra seem to be more interested in the idea of "secret Nazis" who are sending secret messages and "dogwhistles" to each other.

So if you think that lady deserved to be fired from ArenaNet or if you think FarCry 5 was fine and didn't need any big political messages then maybe you're a secret Nazi there, bud.

I'm not scared to debate them. Would it help if I beat them in a debate and THEN clocked them for being a total scumbag?

The "debate" on Nazis was had and decided 70 odd years ago. I'm not going to fucking debate an actual swastika wearing Nazi who genuinely believes that Hitler had it right, are you kidding me?

Mate, even if it's not a Neo-Nazi but just a regular loudmouth racist, fuck them.

If I am walking down the street with my wife and some kindly gentleman shouts "go back to your own country you **** bitch" then I sure as shit ain't gonna say "well excuse me kind sir, let's debate". I am going to attempt to hurt said gentleman until I have sufficiently calmed down. Debate? NO.

If people still have far-right views, then no, the debate did not end 70 years ago.

The debate wont ever end because free speech doesn't end. There will always be people with opposing views.

Trying to silence them or violently remove them is only going to create more of them, don't you think? Because you want to demonize certain ideas instead of literally the whole spectrum that exists.

If we start saying "Nazis need to be eliminated from society", then why not religion? Why not Democrats? Why not Republicans? You put a limit on speech, you're going to end up with a dictatorship.

Dude, I'm just saying if someone is openly promoting the actual views of the actual 1940s era Nazis then I have no problem AT ALL with them getting punched in the face.

I think their views so obviously abhorrent that they fully know this shit is wrong on some level and are just looking to cause harm.

There's no debate. Their ideas should be demonized because their ideas are vile.

If people are swayed by Neo-Nazi views then maybe a good slap would do them some good.

I do not believe it is a slippery slope. Religion, Democrats, Republicans all have their faults but there is quite a gulf between those groups and legit Nazism.

I think almost that the "debate me" attitude from some of the more extreme elements of the far-Right is a tactic to legitimize their shitty views.

Let's just agree to disagree. I would gladly listen to a Democrat or a Republican on their views and beliefs and I am OK with religion so long as we aren't talking extremists.

However, if someone is of the sincere belief that the Nazis had the right idea in the 1930s and 40s then I'm not going to debate with that person at all.
You may not agree and that's fine. Everyone draws their line somewhere eventually, I think.

Everything you just said, is what a Nazi would say about you.
They think your ideas are vile. They think there is no debate. They think your beliefs deserve a good slap.

You're not drawing a line, you are refusing to debate people on why they're no wrong and advocating systemic violence/genocide of people you don't like.
It looks hypocritical.

Because free speech is universal and is meant to protect everyone from being put in categories of being "sub-human".

Just having horrible views shouldn't mean people deserve to be killed for it. If society operated like this, there would only be one human left standing.

What are you on about? I'm advocating the genocide of Nazis now?

One of the main acts of the Nazi regime in Germany, when not invading other European nations, was the extermination of large numbers of people based on ideological reasons. It was unacceptable then, and I am glad that they were stopped, and it's unacceptable now.

Their ideas are literally "let's exterminate groups of people we oppose". You are arguing that if someone says "no this is unacceptable" then they are acting like a Nazi too because they want to genocide the Nazis.

Look, if someone comes to my house with a knife and says "I've been ordered to kill you" then I'm not just going to say "well let's debate this". I want that person to be stopped, permanently.

You can look at it from a perspective of self-preservation or self-defense if you like.

When one side literally has a worldview that says "we need to exterminate a bunch of people" then that's a case for self-defense in my opinion. More so when that exact same thinking resulted in the death of literally millions of people on the last occasion when they had the power and opportunity.

Simple question then. Did the Allies do the right thing in WW2 by stopping the Nazis and removing their power and driving them into essentially non-existence? If not then what should they have done?

There is no space in modern society for Nazism and the erasure of, and resistance to, Nazi ideology is equivalent to self-defense to be perfectly honest.
Look at what happened the last time they were in charge and had a bit of power. You'd open the door to that once more or you'd just say we can't ever let them get their foot in the door again.

Are we actually doing whataboutisms about ACTUAL Nazis? It's fair to question and debate people applying the term NAZI to people endorsing, even vaguely, something they disagree with. But actual fucking Nazi's? One's that self identify with the goals and methods of the Third Reich?

REALLY?

REALLY?

I do not believe in murdering people just for existing.
If someone has detestable views, let them have it. They could be 10 feet in a bunker underground thinking of the most horrible and depraved things, but why should anyone care what they think down there?

Opinions and thoughts are not violence. Acting on them is. The best course of action is to always debate people or change their minds more peacefully.

Free speech is not a weapon. Having detestable views still doesn't mean words are going to kill someone.
Only people can kill people. A hate symbol isn't going to kill anyone.

And if the Nazis won, what do you think they would have said of the allies? That it would be ok to punch people expressing pro-democracy views in their timeline?

Free speech is not biased between good guys and bad guys.

Hang on. I said I wouldn't care if they got a slap or a punch in the mouth when they expressed their views.
(To be clear we are talking about legit Nazis here not "people I disagree with")

I never said anything about murdering anyone. I don't agree with capital punishment at all.

Is it illegal to be a Nazi?
The law is already set up to punish people who do commit mass murder. So why are you taking things into your own hands?

It's vigilantism (except, you're still beating someone up for just having an opinion).
I’m not arguing against it being illegal to punch a nazi. I support the act of punching one.

Then the next time you see someone running around attacking muslims (or any other perceived "threats") on the news, they'll use the same argument you are using: that not all free speech is equal.

=======================

Now, moving on from "Nazis", here is Resetera getting triggered by a Ghost.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/wh...st-scream-read-op.65064/page-73#post-15697077

So here it is, a thread where women spend all day discussing virtual polygons/pixels, as if they're somehow real people and need to conform to some sort of standard.

A ghost is suppose to be a spirit. In other words, invisible things. Why does a ghost have boobs? How about, why can you can even look at a ghost to begin with?

This is what Feminists are complaining about. They feel "oppressed" by the image above. Oh no, an invisible spirit has breasts, this is clearly preventing women around the world from overachieving!

Yawn.

Comparing an Abrahamic religion with adherents that range from good to bad to advocates of a German political party responsible for mass atrocities and attempted genocide during WW2 :goog_unsure:

They are not women who discuss this they are feminists. Male or female does not matter. They only follow their feminist agenda and nothing else. Their gender does not even matter in this context

Era in a nutshell: A Far Cry cover leaks. A poster says it fits the forum (because of colour scheme). Within minutes the first "community" members want to ban him because they are so sure he was attacking the game for having female black antagonists. What a toxic place.

ERA is making enemies with everyone.

Once again, why does the industry want to listen to SJW's? It's impossible to be their friends. They will call you racist at every corner. What is so appealing about a demographic who only exists to scream and yell?

Sony is throwing Japan under the bus to suck these guys off. Where is the logic coming from these companies to bow down to the SJW?

You know what I honestly believe, at this point?

GAF took a good step forward by separating Off-Topic from Politics, but I really truly think that at some point we're just going to have to have to make this place politically-neutral.

Maybe launch an entirely seperate forum solely for political discussions, but leave GAF as a "gaming and goof-off" forum and make militant and unnecessary political statements, regardless of their leanings, moddable.

This place needs to have some community standards again, too. It's not very welcoming and it doesn't look like much of a community when you have so many "default avatars" and gibberish usernames. How are people supposed to form a "community" and remember the users they interact with if they're all default avatars and names that are just random strings of numbers and letters? Have some pride in your online persona, people.

We're not in such a bad place right now, really, after the redesign. GAF looks orders of magnitude better than ERA does right now, with an actual cohesive skin over it rather than ERA's awful only-uses-2/3rds-of-the-screen, candy colored site with a MASSIVE "hey, wanna pay us money?" banner at the bottom of every page.

"We're standing up against hate and intolerance!"
"We hate that you don't hate the right people enough! We won't tolerate that!"

There's plenty of legit reasons to write Boogie off as a person, that said.
There's a few in that thread which are like when is the TGA/Geoff being banned, and honestly looks like some people are giving up and not caring because their games are being shown there.

Boogie threads are always fun - https://www.resetera.com/threads/bo...th-sides-in-regards-to-white-supremacy.85492/

There’s even people there saying Cory Barlog should fuck off because he doesn’t hate Boogie.
Don't worry, thread closed :p

I like that guy post 133: "If promoting the awards show is the most important thing Geoff, why stop at boogie? Invite all jackasses over, why not David Duke? He has a a pretty big following if that the only criteria you need to meet. "
Boogie=David Duke now! oh lord!

EDIT: thread reopened, cause it's not giving him a platform but shitting on him and Geoff so that's fine.

After a brief discussion among the site staff, we're reopening this thread. In review, this thread is not providing a platform for Boogie, his views, or his content, and discussion may continue.
More like Nicoles shitlist of people she doesn't want to see on the site didn't fit this thread. You can clearly tell she's behind any of these discussion bans and it's painfully obvious to see that. There's no "voting" or what not being done to reopen or allow specific topics. She's clearly gotten in shit from the other admins on the closing of the thread, and she had to reopen it.

Sad to see Geoff and Barlog getting all these insults thrown at them and that’s fine for the moderations.

It’s one thing to suggest that they shouldn’t associate with certain people, but all I see are insults telling them to eat shit and fuck off etc.

Man, to think that maybe an hour ago they were praising Geoff for pulling off this years VGA and tagging him in their posts with ass kissing shit like "You're incredible Geoff, great work, we love you!", that was just an hour ago....now it's all like "Yeah, burn the VGA's down, it's the worst show on earth, we hate Geoff!".....and in the end they'll all tune in to watch the show because they're all a bunch of hypocrites.

You know, I don't actually think ResetERA even wants to be a forum so much as the creators saw an opportunity to exploit a political movement of the moment and hijack the community in an attempt to monetize them. Look at the stark difference in the two redesigns. GAF looks modern and streamlined. ERA is somehow functionally and aesthetically inferior to is previous version except now there's a giant "Subscribe to our paid service" banner across the bottom of every single page. It's like GAF's goal was to improve the forum experience while ERA's goal was to make absolutely sure every user knows they can now spend money.

That might be a reason that moderation is so overbearing and politically motivated over there - to keep advertisers happy and to desperately maintain the population by force.

I mean this is probably what it was about. Real shit, I'm gonna ask the people who they bought their theme from what their main focus was and see if I can get a response.

Boogie is now an ally of the Nazis. How long before Reset tries to punch him too?

This is a problem. When people start labeling everyone they disagree with a Nazi the term itself loses all meaning. It's not just a disingenuous accusation, it's also dangerous. It's essentially "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". At some point people are going to start tuning this shit out and if there is a real problem it may get ignored.
